4 Hatred

Amira opened the door of her room and walked in, she leaned on the cold door and closed her eyes gently.

Along sigh erupted in the air as she gave a deep thought about the path that she was about to take.

She walked to her closet and began to check for a  beautiful dress. Amira was certain that competitors would be wearing fancy clothes.

She chose some of her favourite clothes and placed them carefully on the bed. Amira looked at the clothes as she contemplated which was the best among the four dresses that she had chosen.

"Let me start with the sky blue one."She picked up the clothes and walked into the bathroom to change.

Lady Serena walked into Amira's room to check on her after she had left the ground floor in a hurry. A deep frown settled on the old lady's face when she laid her eyes on the clothes that were on the bed.

"What is she up to?"She asked with a raised eyebrow.

When lady Serena was about to call her granddaughter, the bathroom door opened. Amira emerged dressed in a sky blue gown.

The clothes hugged her upper body then it was loose from the waist downwards.  Lady Serena blinked her eyes unaware of what was going on in her granddaughter's head.

Amira only wore this kind of clothes on special occasions which were rare since she doesn't like to be around many people.

"How do I look grandma?"She asked as a small smile crept on her lips, she turned around, posing in different styles.

Grandma's mind jolted back to the present when she heard her daughter's questions.

"You look beautiful like always."She said with a smile on her lips.

"Let me try out the green gown so that we can compare which is the best."Amira walked to the bed and grabbed the green dress.

"Hey, wait."The old lady was late because Amira was already gone by the time she wanted to ask her what the occasion was all about.

Amira changed into the green gown quickly and walked out of the bathroom.

"What about the green one?  Does it look better than the blue gown?"She asked as she fixed the diamond chain around her waist which was attached to the gown.

"Both of them look good on you dear."Amira's grandma complimented.

"You don't get what I mean grandma."A frustrated sigh escaped from Amira's lips. She wanted her grandmother to help her in choosing the best gown among the four.

"What I mean is...I need the best among all the gowns."She pointed her finger to the green gown she was wearing and the ones that were laying on the bed.

"I need to look, good grandma."She ran her slender fingers through her dark hair.

"Girls from royal families will be contesting and I know they will be wearing fancy clothes and priceless necklace."She waved her hands all over the place as she tried to explain.

A deep frown settled on the old lady's face since she didn't know which competition Amira was talking about.

"What are you talking about? Which competition?"She asked with a raised brow.

"Huh?"Amira looked at her grandma blankly, as if she was a strange creature from another planet. The girl had forgotten to mention to her grandma about the competition.

"It's not going to be easy,"Amira thought. She closed her eyes slightly and inhaled deeply before exhaling.

She walked to her grandmother and grabbed her hands gently.

"It's a competition to choose a bride for the crown prince."She paused and sucked in the tight air.

"I want to take part in the competition because it's the only way to get my father out of jail. To prove that he was not the one who tried to poison the king."She said with a sad voice.

"No, you're not going to take part in that competition."Lady Serena pulled her hand from her granddaughter's grip and looked away as she shook her head in denial.

Amira's heart sank when she heard her grandma's words. She was the only person who would support her in this decision that she had took.

Although Amira despised the royal family with all of her heart and soul. She had no choice but to take part in the competition so that she could try her luck.

Amira needed the power to get her father out of jail, to make people believe that her father was in jail by mistake. Amira wants to put the responsible person in jail.

"Your father asked me to keep you away from them. There's no way I am going to ignore my son's last wish before they lock him in that filthy room."

Lady Serena continued to shake her head in denial. There is no way she's going to allow her granddaughter to associate with people who jailed her son.

"They're going to do the same thing to you when they learn that you're commander Adonis's daughter."The old lady explained to Amira the reason behind his refusal.

Hot tears flowed from Amira's eyes. Those words were like sharp daggers that pierced her heart a million times. The only light that she had seen at the end of the tunnel was slipping away.

Amira's grandma turned around and headed to the door. The old lady didn't want to hear anything about the royal family because they were such a pain in her whole life.

They have caused damage in the old lady's life. It made her sick all over again. The mention of the king, queen, prince and other members of that cruel family made her heart bleed.

"Grandma."Lady Serena was about to walk out of the door when Amira grabbed her hand tightly and soft sobs escaped her lips.

"I know you don't want me to go any closer to the royal family."She bit down on her lips as she tried to block more sobs from escaping her lips.

"I hate them too. I hate them with all of my heart and soul."The old lady turned around when she heard her granddaughter's words.

'At least this conversation is going somewhere, we're on the same page.' Amira's grandma thought.

Amira wiped tears from her eyes and took in deep breaths.

"There's no other means to get my  father out of the jail, grandma. Don't you want your son to be free? Don't you miss your son?"Amira asked her grandma who looked at the wooden ground as if the answers were written on it.
