Chapter 1Fang One

*There are poisons that blind you and poisons that open your eyes...*

I sat at the edge of the large bed in the spacious chamber, located in a lonesome tower, underneath this room were dozens of empty others. A cold shiver ran down my spine at the realization that it would be just the two of us living in this tall tower, a frightening nightmare.

My palms were soaked in sweat, as countless possibilities wandered across my mind, all pointing toward why it had to be me.

As I arranged my thoughts, my ears picked up on the sound of the chamber door creaking open, followed immediately by a set of calculated footsteps. My heart skipped a beat as the door was slammed shut and the footsteps got closer.

I straightened my back and placed my hands on both laps, fighting back the tears that had long since welled up in my eyes. At this point, even the slightest provocation could cause my resolve to shatter.

From the corner of my eye, I noticed him tower over me, casting his shadow against my long flowing white dress, which was a size too large.

No one really cared for the details when it came to me anyways.

He crouched down slowly till he was on one knee, his height matching my sitting posture, and my chest tightened as he reached out to touch my face.

I flinched when his cold fingers touched my left ear, a slight chuckle escaped his lips. He went on to caress my cheek and then worked his way to my jaw.

It was then and there that my self-control vanished and hot streams of tears fell from the wells of my eyes, raining on the back of his palm.

Just why did it have to be me?!

"Tears?" I heard him mutter in disbelief, I had no intention of answering, but was scared to say something to anger him as well. So, I took a deep breath and did what I was good for.

"Please forgive me, I'll never cry again in front of you, just give me another chance." I pleaded with him, staring down at my bare feet which had blisters from wearing shoes a size too small.

"Tch." He hissed under his breath, maybe already sick and tired of me. I clenched my eyes, prepared for the worst, after all, rumors weren't rumors for nothing.

Or were they?

I found myself questioning that logic when his hands found their way to my chin and brought my face to meet his. I instinctively flickered my eyelids open, only to close them back again, when he unceremoniously crashed his lips onto mine!

I tried to run away from it, but he used his other hand to keep my head in place. I tried to scream, but he slid his tongue into my mouth, deepening the kiss.

The more his lips ravaged mine, the harder it became to breathe, and without much of a choice, I bit hard on his lips, causing him to pull away.

I ran my palm across my swollen lips, taking steady breaths, letting the realization kick in that I had just kissed the devil himself!

"I like it when they bite too." He said in a seductive tone than used his bright pink tongue to lick the blood off his lower lip.

His eyes darted from my lips which he had been openly staring at to the large bed behind us. A wicked smirk planted itself on his face, and before I could react he had both his hands on my shoulders and pinned my body down to the bed.

"You asked for another chance right?" He asked, lowering his face to mine till we were merely inches apart.

The dimly lit room was illuminated by a lonely scented candle that hung on the chandelier above us. And though the room wasn't bright, his crimson red eyes were incredibly hard not to notice.

How could a human's eye be the same as the color of blood?

As I parted my lips to speak, he brought his face to the side of my neck and kissed it passionately. A cold shiver ran down my spine, as I wriggled my toes, caging the feeling that enveloped me.

This was wrong! How did the situation become like this? Did it really have to be me in this tower?

I could feel his hot breath on my neck which caused my hairs to stand up, he muttered something under his breath as he trailed his kisses up and down my neck.

"Tell me, princess, what is it you want me to do?" He whispered into my ears, his hands had already moved from my shoulders to both my sides, keeping me in place.

I froze at his strange question, he was asking ME what I wanted, knowing fully well about me, this had to be a cruel joke!

"Please...just let me go," I begged with a whimper, unsure if the words ever left my mouth.

I believe they did because he brought his head back up and stared warmly at me, drinking into my features.

Just like his, my skin was very pale, I didn't have a full-figured body, I was taller than most women around me, and had long arms. I found it a hassle to keep my hair and had it cut to shoulder-tip length. Everything about how I looked was at best average, save for my eyes.

That was slightly abnormal.

He gasped once his eyes stared at mine, and I reflexively shut my eyelids tight, feeling embarrassed by it.

All my childhood, it wasn't uncommon for the other children to distance themselves from me because of my strange condition. Being labeled a monster was something I just had to put up with, no matter how badly it hurt.

And just like everyone else, he too would come to hate the l fact that my right eye was blue, but my left eye was brown.

"You're trembling." He stated, holding onto both my arms, I chewed on my lower lip, nervous because he had noticed the abnormality in me. Heavens knows what this cruel man would do to me out of rage.

*Kiss*

I felt his lips on my left eye, then felt them on my right eye, "they're beautiful, just like the rest of you." He whispered, resting his forehead against mine as he spoke.

"Won't you show them to me again?" His soft voice asked in a pleading tone, helpless, I lifted my eyelids and stared fully at his face, drinking in his features correctly.

He had long brown lashes that kissed his crimson red eyes, he had a cute little mole underneath his right eye, and very gentle features, which fuelled the elegant demeanor on his face. I could tell he had long legs and a slim waist, his silky brown hair was packed into a messy bun which highlighted his well-cleft chin.

"We're finally seeing eye to eye on something." I heard him say and cocked a brow, surely the cruel king did not just try to make a joke.

A rather obvious one at that.

My lips quivered as I fought against the urge to laugh at his humor, his gaze softened and before I knew it, he was lowering his lips to meet mine. Only this time, before he crashed them on mine he said something completely mortifying.

"Be with me forever...my Daphne." He declared then pressed his lips on mine, seizing them in another passionate exchange.

Only this time my body wasn't frozen in fear, but in complete shock! Simply because he had moaned the name, Daphne.

But my name was Heather!

Venomous Empress Reborn

# scumtorturing # rebirth She was a daughter of the general’s family and a gentle woman. She fell for Prince Ding and offered to be his wife. After supporting him for six years, she became his empress. After risking being a hostage in a foreign country, she returned five years later to find that she no longer had a place in his imperial harem. Lying in his arms, the new consort said with a sneer, “Sis, now that the country is stable, it’s time for you to die.” Her daughter died a tragic death and her son was removed as crown prince. The Shen family had been loyal, but they ended up being slaughtered. Shen Miao never thought that their marriage and mutual support all this while would end up being just an act Prince Ding put on! Prince Ding said, “On account that you’ve been with me for twenty years, I’ll allow you to die with your entire body intact. Now you may thank me and hang yourself to death.” Before she hung herself, Shen Miao made a resentful oath, “When I perish, I will haunt you day and night!” She was reborn as her fourteen year old self when the tragedies had yet to occur and her family was still intact. She was still the delicate and elegant daughter of a general’s family. Her relatives were evil, her cousin sisters were vicious and ruthless, and her aunties were eyeing her possessions. She had to protect her family, take revenge, and get back what belonged to her. In this life, she would be the last one standing! However, the Xie family’s young marquis, an unruly youth, pushed her up against the wall and said arrogantly, “Remember, the world belongs to you, and you belong to me!” The thirteen cities of You State… belong to you. The city of Dingyuan in Mobei… belongs to you. Yuzhou by the Yangtze River, the East Sea of Dingxi, the Green Lake of Lin’an, and Luoyang City… they all belong to you. If they all belong to me, what will you take, Xie Jingxing? Hmm… you. At first, he said impassively, “There has always been a clear distinction between the Shen and Xie family. For the Shen family’s daughter to suddenly show us goodwill, she must have ill intentions!” Then, he said calmly, “We're all on the same boat. Shen Miao, behave yourself. Who would have the audacity to force you into a marriage while I’m around?” After that, he said proudly, “Overthrowing an empire isn’t that hard. My dear, how shall we divide this great piece of land?” Finally, he waved his hand domineeringly. “Sweetheart, dividing them is too much work. Forget it! They’re all yours, and you are mine!” Shen Miao yelled, “Get out!” A domineering empress who was reborn and a young delinquent marquis. Both leads are righteous and they dote on each other.
