2 Hardwork or Luck?

The sounds of large wings flapping fills the forest as our MC stares at what is now his prey. His mythological zoan Devil fruit has turned the tides in this battle and now he is pretty sure he won't be done in by the ape.

'From what I remember from other anime, Tengu are like angels in Asian cultures. They are both famous and feared too, so this fruit should be pretty high up the Devil fruit ladder.'

BANG!!!

He swiftly dodges another shot. It's pretty easy now. He didn't even need time to get accustomed to flying. It came to him as natural as eating. His sense of sight and hearing has improved tremendously. So has his reaction time. Using his skills from the military to predict the trajectory of the bullet and then dodging the beast's bullet at the last moment quickly becomes practice for him.

'Now I have a host of abilities to make use of. Which should I test first'. He ponders as he dodges another shot.

BANG!!!

"You're one impatient monkey" He says to the humanzilla, who suddenly seems insulted at the animal it was called.

"OOOH OOOH AHH OOOH OOH." He watches the beast wildly motion at him. It is most like pissed that it failed to hit its target. The beast reaches into a satchel wrapped on its waist and pulls out another revolver to shoot the MC with.

'Interesting, the ape evolved to double wielding due to frustration at failing to end me. What innovation! Such an interesting creature.'

BANG!! BANG!!!!

He dodges the ape continuously till it finishes its bullets and starts to reload both guns.

"I will admit, from what I'm seeing now and what I remember from the show, you humandrills are truly impressive. Truly great learning ability. I want you on my crew." He gives the animal a cruel smile as he knows it'll never submit willingly. So he will force it to submit using one of his new abilities.

"You can be my sniper if you don't die. CawCawCawCawCaw." He laughs and prepares to attack.

'FEATHER RAIN' He flaps his black wings which span about fifteen plus feet at the ape. Feathers like arrows swiftly launch from his wings at the ape. He smiles as he watches for the result of steel like feathers launched at high speed. He does this while looking into the eyes of the humandrill as horror dawns on its face.

BANG!!!! BANG!!! BANG!!! BA-BOOOM!!!!

The area in front of him erupts with rock, trees, and dust.

"Achhooo." Our MC waves his wings once more to use another skill his devil fruit provides: limited aerokinesis. A turbulent breeze is created that sweeps the dust away. This allows him to marvel at the destruction he has created.

A thirty meter area within the forest has now been decimated. At the center lays the injured humandrill that is now too shocked and scared to even cry out or move.

'Devil fruits are truly incredible. From the peak human (for my former world) physique I had to becoming a true monster. It's no wonder the weak of this world fear and crave devil fruits.'

He glides towards the catatonic humandrill and lands softly on the ground. Our MC will now ensure the beast's loyalty to him.

But first he must make sure the area around him is safe to do so. He closes his eyes to slip deeper into hyper focus. Tengus are mythological bird-human creatures. His basic five senses are boosted by the devil fruit to match that of a Tengu youngling.

Tengus are also mythological creatures known for their martial arts. Because of that, he gained an extraordinary sense of balance, a powerful physique, talent for martial arts, accelerated healing, flexible muscles, and a kind of sixth sense. As he slips deeper into hyper focus our MC feels his six senses bleed into each other.

'In my basic human form, after eating the fruit, I am able to see the sand on the beach six miles away. I can hear the living forest. A panther is stalking it's prey about a hundred meters away. My sense of smell, touch and taste have improved as well.

Now however… This is different.' He takes a moment to marvel at the illusionary dome spanning ten miles around him. 'This must be Observation Haki!' Within the dome, he can observe both large and small activities.

For instance, he can see/feel/hear/know/smell a herd of mountain goat like creatures roaming around on the hill. He can also focus more to see/feel/hear/know/smell an insect colony crawling beneath him.

'Observation haki truly feels like you are right there yourself. No wonder Enel thought he was god.' He is ecstatic that he has haki at the beginning of the journey.

"CawCAWCaw. Jayson Bradley your hard work has truly paid off. CawCAWCaw." Jayson, the MC, is proud of himself. His hard work in his previous life did not fail him in this one.

'Having observation haki is brilliant, however, it's a very taxing skill.' Jayson can feel the beads of sweat drip from his forehead. He proceeds to shut off the ability. He is content with his findings.

"Good, there is no human in a ten mile radius. It seems most of the people in the village are dead or gone."

Jayson shakes his head before placing his hands upon the beast's head. He slowly prepares to use two magical skills the Tengu devil fruit bestows for the first time. These are secret skills he must not let anybody in this world know of.

Tengu in myths have magical abilities that enabled them to do many things. They can control the weather, control a mystical flame, control wind, teleport, shapeshift, and heal the wounded. Now, Jayson possesses those same magical abilities.

Those abilities made them both friend and foe to ancient peoples. But those were not their most terrifying magical ability. Their scariest abilities were telepathy and possession! A Tengu can freely manipulate the mind of most people.

'I can use this ability to gather my crew. Though, I must avoid using this ability on people with powerful haki. They will sense my intrusion into their mind, break out of it, and snitch on me. I will then be hunted by the entire world, especially by Kaido since I'm a zoan.' That train of thought sends a shiver down Jayson's spine.

'I will create a plan to catch my crew before they get strong later. Now I must focus.' Jayson proceeds to gather the mystical energy within him in his mind. Once he has a decent amount of energy that costs about seventy five percent of his stamina, he casts his skills.

'Telepathy! Possession!'
