28 28.Intense Investigations
"Who killed Wang Xiu?" Mark questioned.
"I'll reach near the building and call you downstairs.We both can then go to the culprit himself."Saying this,he hung up the phone.
"Who could the culprit be?"Mark thought as he put on his sweatshirt and headed downstairs.Akio was waiting for him.
"How the hell did you reach so quick?"Mark questioned,shocked.
"Umm...I came by a taxi..."Akio replied.
They both proceeded towards the culprit,with Akio leading them.Akio reached the school compound and halted.
"We've reached the place!"He said,as he opened the creaking gate and entered the campus.
"Is this some kind of a joke?"Mark roared.
"No.You wait and watch."He said,as he proceeded towards the sports department field.Mark could see a silhouette of a person,facing the wall and smoking.The smoke from the ciggarette led to an outline formation around the shadow.
"Can I ask you something?"Akio asked,as he proceeded towards the person.They turned back.It was none other than Zhang Wei ,Gu Ren's best friend.
"This person?THIS PERSON?"Mark could not believe his eyes.It was simply impossible.How can Zhang be a killer,or at least a conspirator?Mark was lost in his thoughts,when suddenly Akio's question to Zhang brought him back.
"Why did you kill Wang Xiu?"Akio barked.
"I...did...not..kill..anyone."Zhang hesitantly replied.
"Why did you purposely mix drugs in Gu Ren's custom made flask?"Akio snarled,intensifying the scene.
"How would a sports department student know about drugs and all that?"
"A State Natural Science Award winner would definitely know."Akio remarked.
"How...did..you...know?"
"Perhaps,this is 2018 and internet is filled with information,especially about award winners.."Akio pointed out.
Zhang realised that Akio knew too much about him.He turned back to run away but Akio pulled him by his collar.Zhang freed himself from Akio's grip and stood back,adjusting his collar.
"Please tell us.You very well know that the entire police department will support you.Just tell us the reason.We just want Wang Xiu's death to be justified."Akio said,with tears gleaming in his eyes.
Zhang realised the fact.The entire police department,even the government,is run by his family.Even if he is caught,he has enough resources to prove himself innocent.He therefore decided to tell the truth.
"It is because I love Gu Ren."He placidly replied,bringing a drastic change in attitude.
"Then why did you kill Wang Xiu?"Akio questioned,with despair gradually shadowing his face.
"It is because Gu Ren loved her."He censured.
"Are you sure you love him? I mean can it be a brotherly love?"Mark questioned innocently.
"You don't know how my desires run wild when I see him.I have been trying my best to hold myself back but when I came to know that he molested Wang Xiu,it is since that day my blood boiled whenever I saw her."
"Why did you say Gu Ren loved his own sister?"Akio questioned.
"Who said that characterless person was his sister?"
"Mind your language."Mark fumed.
"First she was with their father and then she started pursuing Gu Ren."
"Wang Xiu did not pursue anyone."A voice bellowed.
Mark and Zhang turned back.Zhang froze at his sight.The placid attitude that he was showing a few seconds ago,turned into fear,ten times worse than last time.It was Gu Ren,sane and sober.He kept on glaring at Zhang,who felt his soul was being ripped apart from his body.He felt that Gu Ren's eyes were searching for speck of honesty,that was no where to be found.He realised there is no turning back now.He had lost his lover, even his friend forever.
What will become of Gu Ren's friendship?Will It make or break?
