Mark's expression was drastically changing.It was going through a phase transition from worry,anticipation and finally became restlessness.
Akio,on the other hand,kept on staring at Gu Ren who stood on the terrace and seemed like an angel of death,waiting to reap the soul of his next victim.He noticed that Gu Ren had very red,blood-shot eyes and his legs kept wobbling from side to side.Wang Xiu remained silent so as to not soar Gu Ren's anger.
"He is drunk!"Akio yelled.However,the crowd was too busy to listen.
One of the policemen heard him.He went to his senior and tried talking to him.He entered in one of the police vans,which stood there in large numbers.
"Sir,I think the boy up there might be drunk.Should we look into it?"He asked,earnestly.
His boss immediately picked up his phone and called up someone. "Yes sir."He said,picking up a notepad and jotting down some notes. "Ok Sir.Thank you for your time."After saying this,he hung up the phone.
"These are the only things I have been asked to look into."He said,handing the officer his notepad.The officer took a look at the note.He was astonished at what he saw.The note said:
"No need to pay attention to the case.Only make sure that the girl doesn't die."
He could not believe his eyes.The entire system of law enforcement shattered right before him.All oaths taken,all duties upheld,everything fell short in front of mere influence.He could do nothing but obey.However,there was one thing he could still do.
He declared, "I,officer Li Wei am willfully resigning from the department of Chengdu Police."He took out his cap and placed it respectfully on the seat next to his senior.The silver emblem on the black cap shone beautifully as the sun rays struck upon it.
"You need to find someone else for the cap.Maybe I was not meant for it."He muttered as he closed the van's door gently and ran off to the scene now like a responsible citizen not bound by influence.He straight up went to Akio.
"How can you be so sure that the boy up there is drunk?"He inquired.
"It is because he does things like these when he is drunk."Akio replied.
"I think we do not have enough time.We can stop him if we try.Someone needs to go to the terrace and persuade him.Can you do it?"He asked to Akio.
"If he goes up there,she will surely die.There is only one person who can stop him.It is Zhang Wei from the sports department.He can do the job."Mark suggested.
"Ok.I will go and get him,while you keep an eye on him.Notify me on this if anything goes wrong."He said,handing him a walkie-talkie.
He rushed over to the sports department,where the entire crowd was concentrated.He skimmed through the people,asking them whether they knew Zhang Wei's whereabouts.He went over to the field area,where he found someone sleeping.
"What a time to sleep!"He thought to himself.
He sat down upon the dewy grass and went close to Zhang's ear. "Excuse me,are you Zhang by any chance?"He yelled into it.
Zhang Wei woke up in shock.He was astonished to see a police officer standing in front of him. "I did not commit any crime."He mumbled in a half sleepy state.
"I am not here to arrest you."He said,giving a hand to Zhang. "You need to come with me.I'll explain everything on the way."
Zhang realised the seriousness of the situation.He got up immediately and were running towards the campus.Suddenly,they heard a loud THUD proceeded by the blaring screams of the crowd.They reached the place but were too late.
