1 Chapter 1: Violet

The night was very quiet. The beeping of the machine made Scarlet more awake. She leaned on the sofa and stared at the person lying on the hospital bed.

There, lays Violet, her only sister.

Her face that has always been full of vitality is now pale, with dry lips, and bags under her eyes. Her skin that her sister has always delicately taken care of are now full of wounds and scratches.

The woman in front of her is far different from the older sister she knew, the Violet who is always glowing brilliantly, her face that always has her appealing smile, slaying the runaway, with every step full of confidence.

Scarlet hasn't seen her for almost a month, and the last time they saw each other, Violet was still joking about the two of them taking a break from acting and modeling, and just travel from one place to another, without caring about anything.

Scarlet stood up and sat just beside the bed and held her somewhat cold hands.

"..What happened?" She can barely hear the words she uttered.

Her question is only met with silence.

This question has been bugging her for hours already. It was found out that Violet was drunk driving, which caused the car accident.

She knew Violet isn't the type of person who would drink mindlessly, especially if there aren't any occasions and she always has her assistant with her.

Did anything bad happen to her?

Did she have any problems with her work?

Scarlet has a lot of questions and she knew she can't do anything about it but wait for her sister to wake up.

It was 7 am by the time Scarlet woke up. The nurse was already checking Violet's condition.

"How is she?" She looked back and saw her Mom opening the door with a plastic bag in her hand.

"She.. hasn't woken up yet." She cleared her throat when she heard how raspy her voice is.

Anastasia stared at her and noticed how lifeless her daughter looked and sighed, "Eat your breakfast first and go home. I'll take care of your sister. You still have a shoot this afternoon, right?"

Scarlet glanced at her sister and nodded afterward. "Call me immediately if she wakes up. Caroline and Elise will be here, you can just ask Elise if you ever need anything." Caroline is Violet's Manager while Elise is the assistant.

She bid her goodbye and went back to her apartment. She looked at her phone when it vibrated it was a call from Talia, her manager.

"What is it?"

"Do you want to reschedule your shoot? I can ask the director, I'm sure we can move it by the day after tomorrow if you want to take care of your sister for now."

"Thank you, Talia, but I'll finish it today. It's just a small role anyway." She wants to finish it as soon as possible so she can stay at the hospital without her work disturbing her.

Scarlet was bidding her goodbye to the director and the staff after finishing her part in the shoot when she got a call from Elise.

"Violet woke up. The doctors are now checking her condition. She seems… to have forgotten what happened." Her gripped on the phoned tightened when she heard the last sentence.

She immediately went to her car with her assistant. She didn't know how fast she had driven the car but at this point, she doesn't care anymore. She immediately parked her car and went to her sister's ward.

When she opened the door, her eyes immediately caught the person sitting on the hospital bed. Violet was staring dazedly at her hands, and the doctor's words made her knees tremble.

"Your daughter is suffering from Post-traumatic Amnesia. This is caused by any trauma or injury to the head, but in Violet's case, it's the former. Based on the CT scan, her head is perfectly fine. She chose to forget those events and erase them from her memory, You have seen earlier how she has remembered every one of you, but she forgot the recent events. The extent of memory loss depends on the degree of the trauma, it might be temporary or permanent."

Traumatic experience?

What happened to her?

"Will she be able to recover?"

"Regarding her memory loss, it is up to her if she wants to recover it and if you keep on reminding her about those events. For now, it is more important to stabilize her mental health so it is best if you stay with her."

By the time the doctor finished the report, Scarlet felt as if all her strength left her body. She can barely stand but she still took the steps to come to Violet's side.

"V, how are you feeling?" She softly asked as she held Violet's hand. This made Violet raised her head and looked at her.

"…Why am I… Why am I here?" Violet stuttered; her throat was parched. Her mother immediately gave her a glass of water and assisted her in drinking it.

"How are you feeling?" Anastasia asked her daughter.

Violet looked at the people in the room, without any emotions, she asked once again, "Why am I here?"

"You were caught in an accident…"
