116 Scheme Reversal
"Reen, how could you be so cruel to your aunt!" Aunt Rose immediately defended Lilith, trying to seem like a hero trying to save the day by diffusing the awkward atmosphere.
Reen wanted to roll her eyes but refrained herself from doing so. The loblolly [1] woman finally took the bait. If she reacted much later she would have finish the praises she came up for Elena whom she was trying and sincerely placed into a pedestal [2]
The words said by Lilith may seem nice and defending Reen who out of nowhere brought her deceased mother in the conversation but in fact what she was saying is Reen being unfair towards her and is looking down on her by empathizing Elena was above board [3] and Lilith could never be on the same level as Elena thus Reen was reluctant to accept her as her step mother.
In addition, she was also hinting that it was not that they did not want to take her in but as they were in a financial constraint thus being unable to adopt her despite wanting too, portraying the image of their kindness and soft heartedness.
Seth's relatives who heard this had a guilty conscience as they were indirectly the cause of this by not helping the couple on their dire times.
This was truly a case of hitting two birds with one stone [4] She did not only chastened Reen for her brat like attitude but ignited guilt towards her in laws which she can use to gain their pity to aid their declining company.
When Seth saw his little wife being bullied like a great loving husband, he immediately defended her even without confirming the facts behind the argument.
"You ungrateful little rascal! What the hell are you doing to your mom!"
He shouted while his spit sprayed all over the place. Some of Reen's aunts furrowed their brows while wiping the spit from their face. Her uncles who were a bit farther away looked at the scene with interest and furrowed brows.
This play by the couple truly proved that the two were definitely devils in disguise [5].
As she was tired seeing this farce and the tiredness with dealing with these two blatherskites [6] Reen then made her move.
Reen being the direct recipient of his nauseating spit covered her face while sneakily wiping the saliva off her face.
Unlike Lilith and Seth's amateurish acting that only her relatives can be deceived, Reen who was frequently acting though not professional in her line of work was better.
"I *hiccup* I didn't mean it that way at all… it's just that hearing you *hiccup* you say I look beautiful I could not *hiccup* help but remember *hiccup* mother…" She said in a choked up voice filled with pity which gained some of her aunts and even some of her uncle's sympathy.
Who wouldn't take pity and have their heart soften with such a sorry state beauty in front of them. Seth and Lilith were dumbfounded.
"Why the hell is this little imp crying?! I was planning to use their reactions so she would immediately apologize while gaining a severe scolding from them as they comfort me." Lilith though as she looked at Seth, Seth had the same confuse and worried look on his eyes.
