141 Final Decision

"A year had gone by since I made my decision, why do I doubt myself now?" Mirly sighed while feeling a bit indecisive

The morning bell started to ring, several minutes later Ms. Pana, the homeroom teacher of their class went inside the room. The students who were chatting, leisurely reading, playing and teasing each other hurriedly went to their seats.

The usual round of greetings and attendance was called. Once finished, the teacher cleared her throat to get everyone's attention.

"Good morning everyone, before formally starting the class… I am saddened to announce that a week from now, Ms. Mirly will be transferring schools because of personal matters."

Whispers and mutterings started to erupt from the room growing louder by the minute, Reen, Mirly's best friend slowly turned her head and glared at her best friend's direction.

Mirly on the other hand, ducked her head to avoid the curious gaze and the intense from her friend. The teacher gave them a few minutes to absorb the news.

"Alright everyone, settle down. That's enough, let's carry on with our lesson."

They continued from their previous lesson which was on the mechanics and preparations needed for a British parliamentary debate which they will be performing for their next class.

The sudden announcement was momentarily forgotten, time passed quickly until it was already time for their lunch break. As soon as the teacher went out of the room, Mirly's classmates swarmed her and attacked her with questions.

"Mirly? Why do you suddenly need to leave? And it's just two months away before summer vacation." Donyx asked

Mirly knew this would happen that's why she didn't want them to know about her transferring. But Ms. Pana insisted that she at least tell her friends about it because it was too sudden and it would break their heart if she left without saying goodbye.

Mirly agreed to tell her friends but she asked Ms. Pana if she could tell them in her place instead as she did not have the courage to tell them herself. She eagerly agreed but to Mirly's dismay, she didn't know that what her teacher meant as "friends" were actually the whole class. Left without a choice, Mirly exhaled loudly and rapidly thought of an excuse to tell her classmates.

"Mirly? Can I speak with you for a moment?" Reen slightly shouted in a screeched like manner above the murmuring crowd.

"Hey! I was still tal-" Donyx started to protest but stopped himself after looking at Reen's's frightening glare. She was obliviously in a black mood [1].

The crowd grew into an awkward silence. Reen glared at Mirly, Mirly couldn't help but cringed at the intensity of those eyes, she looked down and nodded ever so slightly. The crowd slowly parted to make room for them as they left.

Reen led them to the back field of the school, a few steps ahead was the storage shed where the equipment for their physical education class and the sport's equipment were stowed.
