Chapter 1: Suicide?
Inside a small apartment that is dimly lit, rungs a very annoying ringtone, breaking the silence and tranquility of the narrow room.
The woman under the sheet frowned and mumbles incoherently until she can't take it anymore and smashed her fist unto the bedside table,
But to her dismay, the buzzing didn't stop and the phone continues to ring.
Ruyan was suddenly woken up from her sleep, which infuriated her greatly. In deep frustration, she reached out her hand to answer the phone. Then shouted angrily.
"Better say something important or I'll smash your dog head.''
The other side choked on his own words before he also roar angrily.
"Ruyan...Damn you!..you!....are you out of your mind? I'm your boss, you dare to threaten me?"
Ruyan tried to absorb the information from the other side before she ask doubtfully.
"Boss?... Whose boss are you talking about?" She tried to think hard and out of habit ran her dainty hands through her hair. Before scratching it hard
"Boss ???"
After realizing something, her body suddenly jerk awake and her eyes opened wide.then said fawningly.
"oh!...hehe! So, It's Boss Chen I was merely joking earlier to liven the mood up, anyway why are you so angry early in the morning?"
Boss Chen nearly exploded his top, he really wanted to give her a good scolding, But suddenly thinking of the matters at hand, he suppressed his boiling anger and diverted the topic quickly.
"Save your nonsense and visit the police station quickly."
"Police station? Why so sudden? Don't tell me you did something behind your Wife's back?" Ruyan inquired playfully.
Boss Chen only snorted, This young lady is Certainly trying to get back at him because he interrupted her sleep earlier. Trying to reason with her now would be a fool.
"I have a job for you." Without waiting for Ruyan to ask, he continued.
"The popular actress Si Chenming died, by committing suicide inside the hotel early this morning. "
Ruyan said "oh" but didn't retort so Boss Chen add with a mysterious tone.
"According to the news I receive, it's not just a simple suicide but….. A premeditated murder."
Ruyan narrowed her pretty eyes and ask doubtfully.
"Si Chenming?.....Who is she? Is she so popular that even you is gossiping about her death?"
Boss Chen merely rolled his eye and said exasperatedly,
"a paparazzo like you, didn't even know that famous actress? What's the use of keeping you?."
Ruyan gasped and then retorted,
"Hey hey! There is no need for you to judge my professionalism just because I'm not interested in that Sisi actress, and I'm a paparazzo, why would you want me to go to the police station?."
Boss Chen smirk a little and said righteously,
"Hehe! Do you think I am your boss for no reason? I hired you to work for me! of course! you have to follow my arrangements!." Then he added quickly.
"I will wait for your news before lunch!" then he directly hung up, blocking any complaints coming from her.
Ruyan rolled on her bed a few times while thinking about the consequences of disobeying her boss's order.
"Why do rich people always this unreasonable ughh, I wanted to become unreasonable too." Ruyan sighed, then stoop up to take a shower.
After a few minutes of bustling about in her small apartment, Ruyan directly hit the road.
After contemplating she decided to drop by the mall, to buy some coffee and gifts to brush up some favorable impressions.
At exactly 10: 30 in the morning, she arrive at the police station.
looking ahead, Ruyan momentarily gasp she never thought, that Sisi actress to be this popular. that even after death, she can still cause a large commotion.
Gaping at the packed parking lot, she clicked her tongue and look for another parking spot.
After getting out of her car, Ruyan directly took a beeline straight to the backdoor.
The police officer who is guarding the back door nearly jumps in fright.
He looked exasperatedly at this brazen woman, who intruded the police station without any qualms.
To convey his neglected presence, officer Li coughed intentionally to stop Ruyan from sneaking inside without permission.
Ruyan actually wanted to sneak in, to hear some details about the current case without being caught.
but due to some unforeseen factors, she was caught red-handed. She was really sure that all the police investigators would be very occupied today. Who would have thought that they even send someone to guard the back entrance.
Pretending to be stupid she, slapped her forehead and said.
"Aya! Officer Li, good morning I haven't seen you for a while, how is your mother?."
"Hehe, Miss Su you rarely visit the police station, of course, we will not cross paths."
Ruyan only laugh stiffly but didn't retort officer Li's words. Looking at the silent young lady in front of him, officer Li decided to ask straightforwardly,
"Miss Su, are you here to ask about the actress Si Chenming's case?..."
Ruyan never expected officer Li to be this straightforward, which caught her off guard. Why are you acting out of the book?
how about your dear mother? Aren't We supposed to be talking about your mother?
Left with no choice she had to use another strategy to get in. Acting like a distressed young lady. Her eyes suddenly turned red, while pointing her finger at officer Li and said accusingly.
"Uncle Li! how can you say that to me?."
un...uncle? the police officer nearly choked on his saliva, we are almost the same age. Who are you calling uncle? How can you say that with no shame?
Although Ruyan looks young and vibrant on the outside, she is actually already 23 years old and even turning 24 this year.
Wiping her nonexistent tears Ruyan continued,
"You're intentionally hurting my feelings to shoo me away, right? Who told you that I am here to ask, about that something SiSi...…." She paused for a moment then ask.
"who is that woman again?"
"Si Chenming "the police officer answered quickly.
"Yeah, Si Chenming it is! "Ruyan nodded her head obediently before adding
"Anyways, I am not here to ask about her, here have some coffee to moisten your throat….no need to show the way, thank you for your hard work." she then shoved the hot coffee unto police officer Li's hand,
But to her distress, officer Li attempted to return the cup of coffee to her hand, Ruyan's smile didn't falter she retracted her hand and ask.
"Officer Li, Why are you being so polite with me. we've known each other for some time now, if you refuse this little bit of kindness, you are really going to make me sad." although that is the word, that is coming from her mouth, there is not even a tinge of sadness that can be seen on her face.
Officer Li is already sweating buckets, he never would have thought this young lady to be this hard to deal with, so he pleaded,
"Miss Su, I beg you…..stop causing trouble, captain Qu is going to reprimand me."
"What are you afraid of?"Ruyan patted her chest,
" rest assured, I am here to visit Grandpa, not him." seizing the opportunity while officer li is still in a dazed.
Ruyan quickly placed the coffee on the table and patted officer Li's shoulders and said reassuringly.
"I swear I'll be really quick, and will leave after I deliver the gift. Okay?" then she dashed to the conference room like an arrow that even officer Li got no time to stop her.
After shaking officer Li off, Ruyan Smirk and boldly open the conference door,
Captain Qu is in the middle of assigning the subsequent task when someone suddenly brags in.
Looking at the culprit, CaptainQu wrinkled his brows, clearly displeased from the sudden intrusion,
Nonetheless he continued his speech, and after a few sentences of encouragement, he disperse the crowd.
Ruyan who is at the door, said hello, and like a kind Samaritan distributed coffee to everyone.
Some say thanks and some nod at her.
Although no one spoke, Ruyan could still feel the anxiety and gloom surrounding the whole Key case investigation unit.
Looking at the scene, Officer Li wiped his perspiration. He gave Ruyan a glance before shifting his face to Captain Qu.
Captain Qu only nodded at him, indicating that he can go back to work, then he walk straight to Ruyan. he greeted her stiffly just to be polite, yet his face implies otherwise.
"Little Ru, what are you doing here? It's so rare for you to visit. It's extremely unlikely of you."
But Ruyan who has a thick face didn't even blush and said shamelessly to Captain Qu.
"Uncle Qu, what are you saying? although I am very busy with work, and rarely have enough time to take a day off. how can I forget about you guys? You risk your life for the stability of the country after all."
She then bowed her head a little, and pass the last cup of coffee to Captain Qu.
Captain Qu stiffly received the coffee and said thank you. Ruyan quickly wave her hand shyly.
"No need to thank me, This is only a small token of appreciation,…. please don't despise it."
The other investigators who have yet to leave nearly burst into laughter.
Captain Qu's face twitch a little, this level of shamelessness is really one of a kind. You are clearly here with a hidden intention, yet you speak as if you're here out of kindness.
