Cassandra/ Kol POV

All Cassandra wanted to do was crawl back into bed, hoping to not stub her toes in the process or trip and fall, her face slamming into the hard wood floors of her mother's cabin, and let sleep overwhelm her; for the latest premonition had filled her full of dread, and a sense of impending doom.

Today of all days. At first the vision was just her surrounded in a maddening darkness.

Hearing the droplets fall into oblivion. But last night. The vision fresh in her mind kept replaying!

'Those eyes.' She ponders. 'Why do they seem so foreign, but so familiar?'

Cassandra Blake stares at her eggs and bacon, like it would somehow have all the answers. Pushing the food around on her plate but not touching a single morsel.

Cassandra's mother had been fluttering around the medium sized kitchen, dirty dishes piled sky high, the smell of burnt eggs and bacon permeating the room.

"Oh Cassandra!" A pale shadow of her mother says in shock of seeing her daughter before noon.

The woman standing before her had dark blonde hair that was visibly thinning in small patches around her head, the violet shine was present but dull and dreary. Dark circles under her eyes revealed how many sleepless nights this woman endured in this life.

"I couldn't sleep. Again," Cassandra mumbles sleepily. Her mother saunters over and takes her sickly daughter's face in her hands, peering deep into Cassandra's violet sleepy gaze.

"Your birthday's tomorrow?" she questions, but Cassandra can't tell if it's to her or to someone else, catching her absent mind,

"Well of course it's your birthday! Not every day a witch turns 17, I just hope your brother makes it back in time with your present." Cassandra's ears perk up, and completely forgetting that Ms. Blake completely forgot the biggest and most important time in young Cassandra's life.

Or so she thought.

.......

Alone on the large boulder that was dear and precious to him, that was at the top of a rocky shore overlooking several tide pools, Kol wallowed in his misery. Kol's chest felt tight and constricting, yet his chest felt hollow like a piece had been ripped away from him, like a piece was missing.

After he voiced his rejection to the burning hot sunrise the Waring emotions in Kol feuding, his inner voice telling him, 'he's the weak one and that he was a coward; that he should have embraced Cassandra's differences and he should have accepted her.'

His Mate.

For whom she was, but alas, he's as thick headed and stubborn as they come.

He wasn't even aware of the girls around him eyeing his muscular body like the piece of meat he wanted others to see him as. Only the few, such as Cassandra, had ever gotten to really get past his macho bravado. To tear away the layers of muscles and fake charm, to see the young boy who last his mother to a maddening disease at a young age.

The young man that refused to harm another unless he was provoked to the point it was the only option and to see the quizzical look that danced in his ember colored gaze when exploring the spell books, he found around the library at his home, or when he would stumble upon old Grimoires that had been lost to time.

As Kol wallowed and watched the flame dancing across his hands a pretty, curvy brunette twists her bouncy locks around her fingers, she wore a navy blue and white striped one-piece bathing suit, which seemed to be a size too small, by the way it hugged her curves a little too much as the fabric cut into her flesh, her belly slightly protruding just noticeable. The tops of her breasts trying to break free of the confines of the sad excuse for clothing.

"Kol. Kol over here," she bounces up and down trying to get his attention.

Kol seems to be oblivious to her pleas. Frustration seeps out of the curvy brunette, who then saunters over to a distracted Kol, swinging her hips in a seductive way, pure determination displayed upon her features. She encircles her arms around Kol's back, and he spins on his heel and comes face to face with a familiar pair of emerald eyes.

The first time Kol had seen these particular eyes were at his 17th birthday; where he was at his weakest and had been avoiding Cassandra the entire night.

"Good morning, baby!" she kisses him on the cheek. "I've been looking all over for you!" she squeals so loud just for the other girls to overhear. Making sure to send her gaze telling them he is hers.

Without notice, Melody crashes her lips upon an unsuspecting Kol, making the on lookers swoon and green from jealousy. Kol's eyes only focused on a pair of violet eyes.

That grew colder by the second.
