I shift my gaze away, "I mean I get that we haven't been all that close…. Lately."

My voice is shaky, and I attempt to hide my interest, even though he knows that Kol had practically disassociated himself from me for the past week.

"I… at least want to tell him happy birthday… before.."

Ash's gaze cuts me off and I lose all the confidence I had gathered in the short time. my heart beating erratically as i get worked up.

Ash continues to shift his weight from one foot to the other, still unsure how to proceed with what he wants to say.

'PLEASE.... PLEASE just tell me.' I want to say but the words are stuck in my throat.

I want to scream.

I want to beg.

Anything than this awkward silence, as he chews on his bottom lip.

"Please. Ash?" I managed to squeak out but there is no confidence in my plea.

'I need to know!'

'Do you really?' my thoughts answer back.

"Cass. You really don't want to see him… right now." He finishes, and I swear there is a pained look deep in his eyes. His remark shocks me.

my face falls and the sting of fresh tears burn my eyes. threatening to fall once again.

Ash sees the disappointed look on my face and envelops me in a hug. "Cass," his pet nick name only the brothers call me.

my eyes sting as traitor tears follow the familiar path down my cheeks falling on my lap below. I sink further into my thoughts as he continues, attempting to retreat from his words.

"Lately and he has been pussy whipped since he first laid eyes on her. Or so I've been told." At that point, I didn't think my face could have fallen any further than it had. "in all my travels with the supernatural world, I would even say that he's acting like he had found his mate."

At that single word my world collapsed.

'Mate.'

'A witch having a mate was unheard of. Wolves and other supernatural creatures sure, but a witch?'

Ash's chatter fades to the back on my mind, that one word echoing on repeat.

I felt like someone had kicked my puppy and the time that we had grown closer to each other had been for nothing.

Lost in my thoughts and a new round of pain spilling into my heart, I unknowingly found myself in front of the familiar cedar door of His room.

'how did i end up here of all places?'

I can't even remember when I started moving but my feet had guided me towards the door that had always been a safe haven when his father wasn't around.

But now.. with the sound of giggling and heavy panting and lusty moans escaping from the crack in the door…

It was only a source of pain.

My breathing erratic and my heart pounding as if it were trying to explode from my chest cavity, I couldn't look away as the scene that played out in front of my eyes.

"Cassandra?" He seems to be perplexed by something. "You weren't even invited to my party."

traitor tears fall harder from my eyes. "LEAVE and Never come back!"

I scramble to my feet as fast as I could not wanting to be in this proximity of him ever again.

I barely notice the torrent of tears that threatened to spill from his eyes as I sprint as fast as my heart will allow.

Taking the steps that lead to the twin's room two at a time in my hurry. Further and further from the boy and man that I had started to love.

'Love?' I can't help but question, but I knew that from the moment that my eyes were swallowed by his smoldering crimson eyes that I had fell for my friend.

'Who was no longer my friend?'

"Cassandra!" Ash's voice rang out into the night sounding sad to see me go.
