2 Rock Part 2

Rock started preparing the forge for use by his father. He knew his father would be suspicious if the normal routine were given up. Rock finished up with the preparations before the morning was even over.

His father awoke later and started bossing Rock around. Rock did everything that was told of him without any complaint. Soon the day drew to an end, and Rock's father went into his normal drunken stupor. But instead of doing nothing but waste the day away Rock acted.

Rock retrieved a sword from his father's bedside. It was a long sword with an intricate hilt; Rock had never held a weapon before outside of forging. There was something dangerous about it, something that called out to Rock. He massaged the blade; it was so dangerous, so deadly, so alluring.

When Rock returned from his father's room, his father was sitting in his usual chair overlooking the mountains. Rock took a deep breath; there weren't any memories of this place, there wasn't anything to attach Rock to it. He'd miss the mountains though; they were always nice to him.

Rock stabbed his father. He took his sword and thrust it through his father's chest. Rock thought he would make more of a noise when he died. It was just a gurgle of blood and then nothing. He wiped the blood off of his blade.

There was nothing, no emotion, no hurling, assholes like him died with no fanfare. Rock decided to search through the house to make sure that he hadn't left anything important behind. There was nothing in the house besides three books.

Rock's father had taught him to read in one of his more saner moments. The first book was called [{Weight Manual}] it was precisely the technique that his father was proficient in. The second one was a small red book called [{Secret Desires}], going through it Rock immediately blushed, it was fiction of a more erotic vibe.

Rock decided he would not touch books that were red and had flowery type. The last book was a tiny book called [{The Creation System}], Rock opened it up to a series of blank pages, in fact, the whole book was blank.

Rock couldn't figure out why his father had a blank book; maybe this was a journal that his father decided not to use? But that still couldn't explain the title. Whatever, it was a problem for another day.

Rock was about to put the book away when it vibrated. Rock was perplexed, why would a book vibrate. He investigated the book, looked at the cover, looked at the back, there was nothing wrong with it. He checked the blank pages in the book, but he found instead of being blank like before they were now filling with words and pictures.

Rock was perplexed when he saw a detailed picture of him painted by an experts hand on the side of the page. A thick block of words was covering the other side, and Rock was equally weirded out by them.

The book seemed like it was describing him. But why did it seem like it was insulting him too?

"Why does it say I'm such a loser! I think my intelligence is a lot higher than just above average."

Words appeared on the page beside his stats answering him soon enough.

[It's because you're a weak person. It took you four years of constant abuse to even get the courage to react against your father but even when you retaliated you did it in the most cowardly way. They say like father like son and they would be right.]

This book seemed to have a little bit of snark.

"Don't even compare me to him. I am nothing like my father."

Words started appearing from nowhere at a feverish pace. It took Rock quite a bit of time to even read what was appearing.

[If you're not like your father then why are you so lazy. So incompetent, a truly competent man would be working right now to improve and what are you doing?]

Rock didn't know how to reply. He had been a waste, even this magical book from the middle of nowhere told him he was a waste. Even in killing his father he was a waste.

"Well, how do you want me to improve. It's not like there's anything to learn here." Rock shouted at the book, he was planning on leaving this blacksmith soon and explore the actual world.

[Easily, you just can't get it through that thick skull of yours. If you were to think for a minute, you would realize that I am the solution to that problem. Turn to the next page.]

Rock turned to the next page just as the mysterious bookman suggested. The next page contained several words in a gold typeface as if they were more important then what was listed on the other page.

[Skill Tree]

[Quests]

[World Select]

"What are these things?" Rock said mystified by the exact purpose of what this book did. He knew that whatever existence created this book they were beyond the scope of any world he knew of.

[These are your ways out of this pitiful existence you call a life. Put your fingers on one, and you'll see.]

Rock followed the books commands and tapped skill trees. From inside the book came a bright light which coalesced into separate motes of light with different names on them.

"These are all specializations; you could become a grandmaster blacksmith with all of these. Does this book contain all the knowledge in the world?" With this Rock could be the greatest in the world, nobody could compare to all of this knowledge he had.

[Close but still wrong. This has all the knowledge that everyone in every world has regarding the subject of blacksmithing. However, it will not just give this knowledge to you for free. You'll notice your creation points you can spend these on increasing your stats, improving your skills, or getting some specializations.]

Rock was ecstatic; this would let him be someone in the world, he could slay monsters, conquer attractive women, and be the strongest in the world!

"Great. How do I gain these creation points?"

[By creating things.] Rock knew there would be a catch.
