1 Chu Yang

Yun City

"Boy, are you really planning to attend the sect entrance?" Mo Yang asked the Chu Yang.

That boy looked lean and wearing a bit tattered clothes, his face is tanned and worked up. He was no more than 12 years but looked like he is around 14 years old. His muscles were well structured.

Chu Yang nodded energetically. "I heard the students from the sect live freely and they don't have to do much except cultivating. They can eat how much ever they want." he spoke energetically.

The Blacksmith was stunned hearing this, so his intention was this all along. He don't know whether to laugh or cry at this. There would be thousands of kids trying their luck in the sect entrance test, some for sake of immortality, some for power and status, some for glory, well except this brat who is there for food. But, he is not going to ridicule him. He watched this kid for past seven years. He could consider himself as the closest person to that boy.

Chu Yang was living on roads then when he took him under his wings. He still remembered how bright his eyes were then. That brightness never left him. His innocence and purity attracted him. He asked his owner to arrange something for that boy. Initially reluctant but he agreed after much persuasion. From then on he started working there daily he gets up early in the morning and cleans the place before others wake up. Some times he will come to him and observe him as he forges. He learnt many things from him. He can forge almost all weapons himself, but no one is interested in is items though. They brought no value to it. But he was sure when he grows up he would make a top notch blacksmith in this town. He got a small cabin for himself and was fed one time a day and paid couple of silver coins a month.

Yan Mo "Did you tell owner about it."

Chu Yang was little scared hearing the name owner.

Chu Yang "Ha ha! He would be delighted that I am going."

Yan Mo just nodded his head. For owner Chu Yang was just a servant, he doesn't care much about him.

Yan Mo was only worried that the kid will face few difficulties, if comes back rejected. He liked that kid, but still he was sure that he will not be able to enter the sect. Everyone, who wanted to enter the sect, have been working on this for years. Kids from known families have started cultivating at the age of 5. They have many resources and experts guiding them. By the age of 15 most of them would have reached 5th Qi and few geniuses would have reached 6th Qi stage too.

But Chu Yang, from the age of 5 he started working for his survival, he does around three jobs a day. He works in black smith store, library and Pill garden. Forget resources , he would not have food to eat few days, when store was busy. But, he didn't want to stop him. He was hoping that someone will take pity on him and give opportunity for him to enter the sect even as a working disciple. Working disciples were the least ranked disciples in Battle Mountain Sect, the will serve other disciples on their daily activities. They, don't get many resources and all. But they are given an opportunity to cultivate. The work in the sect would probably be far less than what he is doing here. If his luck was good he may become a cultivator and then he will be able to take care of himself.

Yan Mo "Fine then, are you going to sect entrance test in these clothes."

Chu Yang smiled smirking "Of coarse not, I have new set of clothes. I will wear them."

Yan Mo know about that new set, well it was brought last year and it would have already been ragged in few places.

Yan Mo then took Chu Yang to cloth store and brought him a two pairs of new clothes.

Yan Mo "Where are you going now?"

Chu Yang " I have to go and meet Master Fen and Lady Yu, i have to tell them I am going." he spoke sincerely.

Master Fen is the in charge of the city library, where Chu Yang works. After Yan Mo, Master Fen is the person who cared for Chu Yang more, but he is not in any position to help him. Best he did was teach Chu Yang how to read and write and got him a paid job in the library.

Chu Yang went to the library to meet Master Fen then.

Master Fen " Boy, you finally came?"

Master Fen was delighted seeing the boy , he always had a favorable impression on this kid. He is hardworking and sincere.

Master Fen "Your Master Fen can't help you much in this matter. But, I wish you luck."

Master Fen "You are already familiar with all the books in this library. There are over hundred low mortal cultivation techniques and martial art techniques. You will need them, copy one you like."

Yun City is surrounded by mountains and forests, there were always few accidents involving beasts, even Chu Yang's mother and father were killed in such a crisis. So, city lord allowed access to low level cultivation techniques to all citizens through library.

By this amount of cultivators in Yun city increased by 30% giving them a better chance of survival.These cultivation techniques are the basic cultivation techniques that can allow a cultivator to reach 7th qi refining stage. That is more than enough many. This action led surrounding cities to go through similar changes. Because of this selfless and judgement, the city Lord Yun gained many merits.

Generally for one to borrow a cultivation technique they have to pay 20 silver coins. This is a huge amount for normal people but not unreachable level.

Chu Yang just chuckled hearing this " Master Fen, I already have a cultivation technique."

Master Fen was bit puzzled hearing this, he lent Chu Yang many books but never cultivation techniques, cultivation techniques manuals are not to leave the library without paying for them. Excluding the fact they are allowed to read in library.

Master Fen "You read them while in library?"

Chu Yang nodded his head excitedly. "Am I not awesome."

Master Few was impressed by this but he will not show it outside." You have been coming to library daily for 7 years, at least you did something smart by learning some thing."

Chu Yang felt a bit displeased being chided. He didn't reply back though. If he told Master Fen truth, Master Fen may be shocked to death. Chu Yang have photogenic memory. He is familiar with every book in this library and he can recount each and every one of them by word to word if he wanted. But, he decided not to reveal it.

Master Fen "Which one are you going to use?"

Chu Yang "Flame Heart Sutra."

Master Fen was not that surprised at this choice. It is one of the strongest techniques available in the library.

Flame Heart Sutra, Flame Body Technique, Monsoon Technique, Earth Tree technique, Drifting Moon technique, White stream technique, Snow Lion technique , Thunder Bird Technique, Water Fall Technique, Cutting Leaf technique these are the top ten techniques available in the library. These techniques are just below mid mortal level.

Master Fen "You, read the description right, even though is just a low mortal technique it is toughest technique, no one was able to practice that technique yet."

Master Fen "Flame Heart Sutra, Snow Lion Sutra, Water Fall Technique and Lightning Technique are toughest to learn and no one was able to practice those techniques till now."

Chu Yang "I just wanted to try it. I also studied Flame Body technique, so I will practice flame body if I failed to make a progress."

Master Fen "Good. About Martial techniques?"

Chu Yang "I got that covered too."

Master Fen "So, you need nothing from here then?"

Chu Yang just smiled but didn't say anything.

Master Fen understood the meaning though "You sneaky brat? I am not snatching your pay."

Saying that he threw a purse to Chu Yang "There are 3 silver coins and 200 copper coins. Your pay for this month is settled."
