3 Chapter 3

Dimple had not received any texts from Rishab for quite a while. She dismissed him much like any of the random things that happen in one's life. It was a quiet Saturday afternoon and she had just finished her mundane household chores. Leaning on her comfy armchair and reading a book was her favourite pastime in the weekend. Suddenly, she heard a knock on the door.

Peering through the eyehole on the door Dimple was shocked. Rishab was standing at her door with a bouquet of peonies in his hand.

She hurried to the mirror by her bed, fixed her hair and rushed to open the door.

"Hi", Rishab exclaimed."I bet you weren't expecting me to show up like this unannounced".

"Well, truth be told I wasn't but come on in and have a seat, I will get you some coffee".

"No, actually there is no time for that, I have to be at a fundraiser in an hour and it takes 20 mins to get there so we don't have much time".

"Oh, but it won't take me much time to make a cup of coffee and you will still be ahead of your schedule".

"AAhh No you failed to understand -- I was thinking that maybe you could accompany me to the event as my date in which case you wouldn't have enough time to get ready", Rishap gasped as

he realized how his sudden request must sound to her.

Dimple stared at him, flabbergasted. She was annoyed at how he could just barge in on her perfect Saturday afternoon and make such inane demands; she didn't know what to say.

"But this is very unexpected and I have supper to make", she said, peeved at his outrageous proposal.

"We will have dinner at the ball and I will drop you home right after so don't worry", said Rishab as beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

Dimple could believe that he was still sticking to his demands and making excuses.

"Okay, I will get ready, wait here."

Rishab couldn't believe his ears, her words sounded like music to him; she had conceded.
