Don't hurt her(chapter 4)

Mr Louis chatted with his son for almost thirty minutes,Jennie was in the kitchen washing utensil."Morning Jennie" greeted the house keeper,"morning Maria" she replied." Why are you still in the kitchen washing utensils leave it the servants will do it" she said."Don't worry your father and brother have left already so you won't be in trouble" she added."Thanks Maria but am okay don't worry about me" Jennie replied,"but you don't look good,you look tired and pale let me help you " she said worriedly."It's fine I can manage thanks for your concern" she said and continued washing the utensils.

Maria silently watched as she did the work which other servants are paid to do,she had been working for them for twenty years so she had witnessed Jennie growing up.Jennie used to be a lively and happy but things suddenly changed and she hardly talked or laughed .She knew the reason for her change,she knew how Jennie was treated badly by her family,she always felt sorry for her but she couldn't do anything she was just an employee and not a family member.On many occasions she found her hidding in some corner of the mansion deep in thoughts with a sad face or crying her heart out she knew her life wasn't easy."You know I just pray that you will get married to a good man who will love and cherish you" Maria said in a sympathetic tone.Jennie laughed at her comment but said nothing,she wondered what kind of man will marry her.

" You're beautiful and kind, God will bless you with a good man" Maria added patting her back ,Jennie said nothing,if her family didn't love her what more of a stranger she didn't have her hopes for ever being loved by anyone." Thanks Maria" she said looking grateful.Though it wasn't helpful it felt good when someone told you,you deserved better and to be loved.Maria chuckled and left to supervise the servants.Jennie was done cleaning the utensils she dried them and placed them back where they were.She stood near the sink in deep thoughts.

" What are you doing here" Jacob asked.Jennie was startled ,"nothing I just finished cleaning the utensils" she replied."Prepare some porridge I want to take it to mother,I have something to say to her" he said nonchalantly."Okay" she said and began preparing the porridge,her brother stood there watching her with eagle's eyes, she felt uncomfortable but she didn't show it.The porridge was ready and she served it in a wooden bowl."Great work siz" he said,took the bowl and left .Jennie went back to her room.

Jacob went upstairs where his parents room was,he passed by his father's study room and knocked."Come in" he said, Jacob pushed the door open and entered,"Dad why are you working on weekend you should rest" he said worriedly."No son I have alot to take care of,maybe I'll rest once you have taken over the company,oooh I see you brought porridge to you dear father" he said jokingly." No dad it's not yours,I prepared it for mother she didn't eat breakfast so I know she is hungry, I even brought her medicine for her headache" he said worriedly."Thanks son, she is in our room probably asleep" he said feeling grateful."No need for thanks she is my mother,I'll be going and please don't overwork yourself remember you have a son call me if you need my help" he said and left,he went to her parents room and knocked.

There was no response so he opened the door,Mrs Louis was still on the bed asleep.He scrunched his eyebrows and went closer to the bed,"are you sleeping or pretending to be?" he asked in a scornful tone.She woke up and sat on the bed she stared at him with clear hatred in her eyes but that did bother him."What do you want?" he asked suppressing her urge to curse him."Nothing yesternight when you saw me you were so tired,you didn't even let me have a chat with my father I got worried you know and this morning I was told you have a headache,you could have tried to come downstairs and see your son, didn't you miss your son?" he said in a sarcastic tone."I drank alot of wine at the party,I was really tired and I got the headache because of drinking last night" she explained.

"Do you know why I'm here?" he asked in a serious tone."No you tell me" she replied with a murderous look on her face,of course she knew why he came.Jacob smirked"stop looking at me with that furry in your eyes am getting scared but then you can't do anything to me so you better know your place,I think you forgot about our deal what punishment should I give you" he asked in a mocking tone."What deal?" she asked feigning to be clueless."Playing dumb?, don't try to play with me woman,you thought I won't know what you did?you told dad to give Jennie the position of chief marketing officer,is that what we agreed on?" he asked angrily."Your father said her working at a lower position will turnish his name that's why he gave her the position,I couldn't do anything about it" she replied with the same anger in her voice.Jacob was suprised by her outburst but it also made him even more angry "who suggested that to him?" he asked her there was viciousness in his eyes.Mrs Louis got scared,she knew what this physco was capable of whe he had that look.

" You know I can get you kicked out of this house together with your daughter and both of you will go back to the slums where you belong so don't tempt me" he said in a threating tone."I'm sorry" she said looking apologetic.She won't never allow her daughter to suffer in the same way she did."I forgive you but your sins can't go unpunished your daughter will pay the price" he said with a smug look on his face.She became alert,she was worried for her daughter's safety.She quickly kneelt "please don't hurt her,don't hurt my daughter I promise to obey you please forgive me this once" she begged with tears in her eyes.She knew he meant what he said,he was capable of hurting her daughter." If you don't want your daughter to get hurt,don't let this repeat itself" he warned.Mrs Louis watched him leave with a smirk on his face,her heart was beating fast,she was scared.
