48 CH 43: THE KING IN YELLOW (1)

"Tell me Fuli, how much did we already lose?"

In an office located in a small six-story building, two people were currently discussing. One old and one young.

It was another night.

The full moon hung upon the sky.

The office wasn't particular nor distinguishable in any meaningful way. An office like anyone. Some sofas disposed of in the room, a large bureau, wooden shelves close to the wall. In short, simple and normal.

Currently, the old man was standing while facing the seated young man. Their relationship was clearly that of a leader and subordinate.

Fuli, the old man, answered mildly, "We have already lost Wang and his group, The Eighth, to unknown assailants. From the trace, it seems that it was only one person who carried the massacre. Fifty-three bodies completely mutilated and Wang was clearly tortured before being killed."

Fuli may appear calm, but he was shuddering inside. Wang may have been an impetuous power-hungry young man, but he was without a doubt very skilled even among those at the second tier.

The eighth was also a powerful team and their sub-leaders were no slouch.

For such a team to be erased so simply without even giving them the capability to escape…

"The enemy must have a capability related to space or a nullifying type one. It's the only way to stop Wang from using his power and flee. What more they must be extremely powerful. At the very least a Saint or king rank."

Once one reached the first tier, they received a title depending on the level they stood. He didn't know what kind of title Wang met, but it wasn't funny.

The leader's expression darkened a little as he fought to keep his calm.

"Do you think that person is related to the Karino clan attack?"

"It isn't impossible. As you know, not long ago, the Karino officially declared enemies on the hunter website and decided to sue us. But we all know what it means."

No matter how powerful people became, it was hard to face a state. As such there was some unwritten rule in the hunter world.

When someone said that they would sue you on the hunter site. Then it was pretty much just saying 'I am going to fucking kill this guy and no one should interfere.'

The government generally turned a blind eye to any fighting occurring in such a situation, and the other hunters not related would generally stay away.

'Seems like we are really in a pinch. Still-'

"Are you sure only the brat of the Karino will attack?"

Fuli didn't nod but simply pondered, "He announced quite clearly that he would do the job alone. Since he is trying to use us to set an example, he wouldn't go back on his words as long as the situation doesn't turn too bad for him. It would destroy the reputation of the Karino family."

"So we must capture him in one go before he even thinks of calling for help. Then we will negotiate for a safe transfer to the other side."

They didn't even think of killing him. Doing so would be the end for them. They didn't forget that, even if the mysterious assailant wasn't related to Akira Karino, there was an incredibly powerful being behind him.

If she ever was to intervene, all of this would just be a joke and they would simply give up without any struggle.

After all, how could humans face a godly being, if only a half?

It was then,

*Rumble*

The air stilled as the earth shook.

Both Fuli and Kaji, his leader, expressed surprise as they looked out from the window.

They didn't know where they were, but this was sure as hell not in the city.

After all, they were currently seemingly floating in space.

-----[AKIRA POV] [FEW MINUTES AGO]

When I watched those animes, I always wondered why all the introductions of important characters had to happen with them standing on a high peak or the roof of a building.

I mean, wasn't it just a waste of time?

But, here and now, as I stood on the roof of the nearest building facing the one where the Black lotus had their nest with the full moon high in the sky and my hair in the wind,

I had to admit.

It was fucking badass.

{So, when are you going to begin?}

{Please Sis, don't break my flow. I was about to enter the zone.}

{Fufufu! If you say so. Anyway, hurry up. You should know that HE is the one with the less strident condition for summoning. Don't come crying If you miss your timing.}

"Sigh. Well, let's finish this fast. Shuka decided to bake some cookies for me and I want to eat them while they're still hot."

The Necronomicon wasn't just a book full of dark spells. It was a book that allowed the user to summon the godly being whose names were inscribed in the book and whose wavelength synchronized with him.

From what Chiyo told me, none of the witches aside from Satella, Pandora and Echidna could summon an outer god. Even then, I was the one with the highest synchronization either in all history.

I guess someone as sane as I was was a juicy piece of meat for those gods.

Welp.

I wanted to summon one.

I absolutely didn't need to do so. It was entirely overkill to summon one to deal with the black lotus, but I was curious.

Since I obtained this book, my hands itched. I wanted to summon one so much. But they all had stupid conditions attached to them.

There was only one I could currently summon without having to pay a particular price.

Only two conditions were necessary.

A night of full moon at midnight.

The blood and soul of the wicked.

Gathering my utmost concentration and discarding all useless thoughts, I began to circulate mana in my whole body.

Under me, a weird concentric circle I had to carefully draw for twenty whole minutes glowed.

{It's time.}

The wind picked up suddenly, my voice came out, in a more guttural way than usual.

*******

[Look up now, the really high place of the dark sky]

[The seething stars shine brilliantly in blasphemy announcing the engraving of fate to thy.]

[Listen to my voice, O the mockingly laughing person at the depth of all consciousness.]

[The seething stars shine brilliantly in blasphemy informing thy the time of destiny.]

[Answer to my call, O Lord of the Interstellar Spaces, he who must not be named, HASTUR THE KING IN YELLOW.]
