2 When weapon is needed

During the process of growing up, Bai Ruoyan can proudly said that in his entire life of living in District 31 that he never met this other 'twin' of his. In fact, he found it funny that the age gap between them is four years. As if he believe the nonsense his mother is spouting. Oftentimes he always got confused with the way his mother speaks.

"Baby, come help here," Mama Kristina called for her child. Now that her child is 16, she couldn't help but marvel over her child's growth. This child of hers always ran around nowadays; too wild for her own good. One time, he went to infiltrate some school from other district. He saw a fight broke out and what do you think he did? He flipped out his phone and recorded the entire scene. After that he edit the video and upload it on Yoo-channel. To said it explode was an understatement. Until this day they cannot locate who upload that.

"What is it, Mama?" Bai Ruoyan asked as he walked closer towards Kristina Royal. Although two decades have passed since the birth of the eldest twin, Kristina still mantained her youthful look. She's a dhampir after all. His father, on the other, is from the high nobles of the elven race, an high elf. That makes him a fangborn and since he's now 16 years of age, his thirst for blood started to awaken during his puberty.

Kristina then took out a dagger. The dagger has an interesting shape. The blade is curved like snake and the hilt is embroided with gemstones. Fascinated, Bai Ruoyan walked closer to look at the dagger. The sun hit the blade causing it to gleam, the sharpness makes him amazed since the dagger looks dull from a distance.

"Here, this is keris," she stated. Bai Ruoyan touched the hilt and handled the keris with care. Looking at it from the side seems interesting enough and the thing that caught his attention the most is the gemstones.

"What stone is this, mama?" he asked with curiousity. The colour of the gemstone is unique, almost spectacular. The blue-green colour of the stone as well as the grey colour shows quality. He can see that the gem is polished, for the hue of the colour seems separated, showing a colour play. The gemstone though was not as transparent, mostly looked a bit opaque but for him, it's wonderful.

"Ahh, its Spectrolite. A variety of Labradorite stone. You cannot tell people that it's Labradorite, baby. Shamans like that stuff, even willing to pay with blood," she said, unfazed by the disgusted look her son gave her. After all, it seems he still cannot stomach drinking mammal's blood yet. It's no good. He needed those blood for his body. She heard that a fangborn is rare, even more when there's twins. Giving him this keris only served as a protector plus the embedded gemstone also served as a charm. She forced her husband to give Aone the Golden Labradorite though but different than Bai Ruoyan, the gemstone got embedded on a rapier.

"You should go on journey... go find adventurer guild... I will follow behind," Kristina said. She trust her son well for unlike her, he has an unusual instincts of finding a good companion that won't harm him. She worry that someone will stab him in the back though which is why she prepared those weapons for her children. Luckily it seems he's not really that interested in fighting head on. If not, she definitely would worry a lot.

"Fine, fine~ I'll find a good one," he said. Really, this mother of his really trusts him so much. FInding a good guild? Sure thing! One thing to note is that while he got good instinct over some people's intentions, it seems that he's still half blind. While it is guaranteed that theres no bad people doesn't mean that the place is as lively. It means that the place is oh so deserted that he was the only one yelling inside while doing quests. But then for the sake of his mama he will join one. First guild means acquiring more experiences. While he's a bit worried, he's sure that he will find a good one in the future.

Walking outside the street, he hummed a bit. District 31 is really nice. There's some people who are a bit reclusive but then there's also some that's as loud as him. While it's the first time he actually went out to meet newer people in his own district, he hoped that they're as fun as him. After all, the usual thing that he always did was running around at the barn while chasing after the chickens. Good lord, its true that those devilish fiend must be related from the now extinct ancient dinosour species. Even dragons still retain some elegance!

First thing before he went to find a guild is to go to a potion shop. Meaning he's planning to buy some ingredients. he found out that with the quality of his keris, he's pretty sure that making some poison with paralyzing effect will surely reduce the need for him to move. His body is frail after all. The elven blood of his really makes it harder for him to gain some muscle strength although at least he's faster than any normal human. Since his father is an high elf, his mana really was a lot but then he felt that his ability was wasted. After all, no matter how many spells he tried to cast, it seems that he cannot even make any. Even a simple burning spell. Maybe that's why he's introverted though. At least he still got his brain. Even after reading those many books. Well... he gotta admit his mind became more muddled AFTER he read lots of those books. Hentai? An entire library of them. Yaoi?! Hidden underneath the floorboard. Yuri? Sitting in his couch at home.

Now, now. Let's admit it. He can now admit that he knew where babies came from and he's now 100% sure that the twin his mom kept on saying is a lie. He refused to believe that sort of logic! He's someone with common sense. Surely there's no way he's born 4 years after his, let's say, elder sister. He's betting on his pointy ears here!

That doesn't mean that he has no talent. Wrong! In fact, it seems that those spells he tried to make doesn't fit his nature at all. At least he still have his racial nature wind magic but even that was limited. One time he tried light magic but it only burned him. Gosh! He will never touch that one ever again.

When entering a shop, he immediately rushed towards the ingredients. Some of them are fresh while older one got preserved. Some of the herbs though are the best when dry rather than fresh. He looked at them one by one before buying the ingredients that he needed. After paying oh so painfully, he managed to walked out of the shop while thinking about how to coat the poison. Doing so wasn't a simple matter.. Luckily his keris has a scabbard. If not he would've abandon the poison plan.

The poison that he makes is not really that lethal but its also dangerous in battle. One careless mistake was all he needed after all. That, and the keris looks like it will be painful when stabbed. Imagine piercing the ribs! That would make any grown men shudder. The seemingly jagged blade feels like a torture if being stabbed by one. Maybe healing from such wounds will be an arduous process after all.

"Yo old man, I need some help with coating!" Bai Ruoyan barged into a smithy. What good place to poison your weapon other than the good ol' smithy? Learning may be a difficult process but he can endure. This is for his safety after all.

"EROS! GO HELP THAT BRAT!!!" A shout can be heard in the basement. At the backdoor, Bai Ruoyan could hear the screeching of metal painfully stopping and footsteps walking towards his way. There, he saw a man with delicate yet sharp feature walking towards him. Bai Ruoyan have to say though, he looks seductive. The shape of his horn determines that he's from a demon race and looking at his tail is enough for him to know that he's an incubus. He's pretty surprised actually. Finding an incubus in some smithy is rarity enough, he's even more surprised that the old man let him inside.

"How may I help you?" the male asked. From the way he speaks, it seems he was used to managing the counter already. It's pretty weird for Bai Ruoyan for he read that incubus usually flirt, yet this one seems aloof for one. That must have something to do with their tastes though usually they would build a harem already.

Taking out the scabbard from around his waist, Bai Ruoyan put the dagger on the counter. "How do you coat some poison with dagger of this quality? I'm curious about maintaining the sharpness also," he asked. The male took out the keris from its scabbard and observed the weapon.

"Not bad," he commented. Bai Ruoyan noted that his tail whisked around rather playfully unlike the emotionless expression on his face. He had to say, that was rather weird of him but he's not gonna complaint. "The metal of this dagger is of high quality so there should be no worry over rusting. However, I suggest that you should bring it here from time to time because I heard that such a thin dagger like this makes it easier broke in the middle of a battle," the other male said.

He knew it! He cannnot make it as his main weapon after all. He sighed as he contemplated about what other alternative shall he use. He then noticed the other male suddenly smiled his way. Hmm, suspicious~

"How about a crossbow as your main weapon? There's no need to put such a long face, you know?" he said catching Bai Ruoyan by surprise. Does it show on his face that much? He thought that his eyes would look fiercer for he knew just how much scarier it was when he used those big eyes of his to glare at others. Well, maybe that's the reason why he noticed. "Sorry for saying that suddenly,' the guy apologized all of sudden. Maybe it's because he saw the suprised expression on his face. Maybe he just realized his rudeness. Maybe its both.

"It's okay, really!" Bai Ruoyan said, not intending to make things as awkward as it was already. This guy before him really was different from his initial thought. At least he knew that he's not antisocial. Maybe a bit solitary or introverted, "How about teach me on how to coat? I'll consider giving crossbow a try," he said.

The seemingly aloof man in front of him suddenly smiled brightly it blinded him despite the man being a demon. "I'm Eros. I'll be happy to help you in any way I can." The smile on his face is genuine. Bai Ruoyan grinned.

"Let me introduce myself properly. Tis I is named Bai Ruoyan!"
