10 Wasted Chance
When life gives you a chance, then you should grab it. However, that might not be the case for Kiara when the chance has already been wasted before she could grab hold of it. Or maybe not.
"I'll pick you as my partner" she heard Leona said which made her heart happy and her lips go up but as she looks at her best friend to say her answer, her heart shatters once again when the invitation was not meant for her but some guy in the class.
It's not even that hard to process knowing that Leona is still mad at her. But in that particular moment, she just wished that she was the guy and not some stupid girl who ruined everything and lost her best friend. Will seem to notice her expression as the words shocked her.
"Miss, can it be three? I promise, I won't be late again if you let me, partner up with Kiara and Leona"
The professor didn't even argue and just let Will do whatever he wants. It's not that the professor didn't care but she knows how one person can't handle the guy. At first, Kiara thought it's just a joke but then again they are now forming a circle to discuss their plans for their output.
"Is it really fine if I join you guys? I can partner up with someone else if its a bother" Kiara said looking back and forth at Will and Leona
Will didn't bother to answer Kiara and just nudge the girl beside her who keeps her head low. Leona mouthed him a what and the guy just shook his head seeing Leona's reaction. This made Kiara feel self-conscious as she didn't know if she is indeed welcome to the group or not.
"Tell her," Will said breaking the silence around them
"Tell her what?"
"That this is your idea"
"How did it became my idea. You're the one who inserted her in the first place" Leona said which she regretted right after she sees Kiara's eyes which are now filled with hurt
"Is it really mine? Your eyes tell me the opposite though"
"Let's just continue this after lunch, I still have another class to attend to," Leona said out of embarrassment and quickly leave the room leaving the two of them
"I'm sorry. Meet you after lunch" Will said and smiled at Kiara who reciprocated the gesture
Will runs out of the room, trying to catch up with Leona who seems pretty upset earlier. The guy just wanted to apologize but before he could even say the word, Leona's eyes already throw daggers at him making him shut in an instant
"I don't understand you, Leona. I know you want to talk to Kiara, your eyes tell me so. But why are you being so hard-headed and walk out of the room?"
"Of course you don't! You don't know me, you don't even know what happened between us but here you are forcing yourself into a situation you shouldn't"
Leona knows that Will is right. She knows but she just doesn't want to admit it. She doesn't even know why she walk out of that room when the chance was already spoonfed to her. All she needs to say is one word and that is "sorry" and everything will be fine but she always turns into a chicken before she could even say it
"I was just trying to help!"
"Is everything okay here?" River said as he heard the two argue.
"It's none of your business," Will said composing himself
"Don't say that to the person who saved me" Leona hissed
Will furrowed his eyebrows, confused as to why Leona calls River her savior. But then it's River, so Will didn't even have to think hard to know what was going on
"Oh really? Did he tell you to fuckin eat because you're so lightweight probably why you fainted?" Will said crossing his arms, earning a slap from the girl
Patience is not Will's forte so when he realized what just happened. He just lost it. The girl won't believe her and won't even let him help her. All Will wanted is to be close to the girl, maybe become friends with her but it's not every day that Will has his patience with him.
"You know what? Your pride won't solve what's happening between you and Kiara. And fine, I'm sorry for trying to help. I won't do it ever again so please make sure to meet us after lunch for the output. Let's at least be responsible, we don't want to retake this course once again right?"Will said clenching his jaw very hard that it almost broke
Leona wanted to be mad. Hell, she wants to punch Will this time and not just slap him. But at the same time, she couldn't bring herself to say another word or even hate him for she knows that all those words are true. She can't get rid of her pride probably the reason why she couldn't dare to say the words she wanted to say the most to Kiara.
Only did Leona realized that she's not alone when River asked her whether she's okay or not. She couldn't even answer the question because even herself doesn't know what's the right answer for that question. Is she okay? She just ruined her friendship with Kiara yesterday and now someone was genuine enough to help her get her best friend back but she fucked it up once again. So is she really okay?
"I'm fine," Leona said, smiling brightly at River so that he won't notice she's lying
Thankfully, Leona was able to convince the guy by her answer and River didn't push further the topic. The two of them bid goodbye before going to their next classes. And that's when Leona realized that she's alone again. However, dramas shouldn't be a top priority when you're taking an Accountancy course and Leona know it very well. She shouldn't let herself get affected by everything that happened yesterday and earlier, not now that the road to the qualifying exam is just two weeks from now.
