2 New Semester

"You should always remember class; that if you have Consistency and Perseverance to Aim high then you won't have any problem at all"

These are the words that Leona remembered from her previous professor which she's mimicking right now

"I did have consistency and even have perseverance to aim high so why!!?? Just tell me why!!??"

She uttered while bawling her eyes out in front of her friends. She did everything she could but she still failed one of her major subjects. Now she needs to retake subject in order for her to proceed the other unit, the problem is; her family didn't have any money at all. She came from a family of farmers that's why she's not sure if she could still continue given also the fact that she lost her one and only scholarship because of her failing remarks.

"Maybe this is a sign that this course is not really for me" Kir, one of her friend who also need to retake the said course said

"No! Never. You can still do it Kir. This is your dream, it may seem foggy and scary right now but if you passed through it then all of this will be worth it" Leona said holding her friend's hands

"Look at you giving so much advice but bawling your eyes out because you're not sure if you can continue"

Leona stand up from her seat and look straightly into each of her friends eyes. Her eyes reflecting the eyes of a tiger, fierce and determined. She placed her right hand into her heart like she was about to sing the country's national anthem and raised her left arm in her chest level

"No! I swear to the father of Accounting and Book keeping; Luca Pacioli that I, Leona Salazar will achieve my dream on becoming a Certified Public Accountant"

"What's the use of promising something like that to a man who dies a long long time ago" Kir said

"He's a man of history so I guess that kinda works" Marcelo uttered

Leona ignored what her friends just said and starts thinking of ways on how to survive another year. Now that she lost her scholarship and would need to retake a course, she searched for some legal jobs all over the internet and even asked some of her friends as well. With her determination, she got into well paying job that would be enough to sustain her tuition fees; she also applied for another scholarship and luckily got accepted. But none of this is easy for Leona at all. Everyday she needs to maintain the balance between her job and her studies in order for her efforts not to go to waste. She needs to attend school on broad daylight and go to work when the moon starts to shine. This is also one of the reason why she's been clinging into her coffee almost everyday.

In order not to retake another course again, she look at herself in the mirror and remind her mind to get rid of her fears for it is the fear that will be a hindrance in achieving her goals in life. Everyday, like a machine that refuses to stop her mind keeps reminding her that as long as she's boldly making steps forward then it would be enough to not have any regrets in the far future.

"Oh my God! What happened to your face? Are you digging holes under you eyes?" Kir said looking at her friend who just entered the room.

"Oh please, don't greet me with an interrogation. I'm really tired" Leona answered

"Of course you are! It is written there in your face. I thought you did take some rest during the break"

"I couldn't take any rest at all. Every time I try to sleep, my mind keeps telling me that I should read my book in advance so I won't have to take this course again"

Today is the start of a new semester and also the start of retaking the course that Leona and Kir failed to pass. Soon as their professor entered the room, they immediately starts their discussion. While the class were in the middle of discussion, a creak from the door was heard causing everyone to look at the direction of the door. There, stood a man who's placing her hand at the back of his head and giving his teacher the widest grin he ever had.

"Mr. Roberts, you're late. Again." the professor uttered looking at the man

"Oh come on ma'am, it's the first day of new semester so technically speaking this is the first time I'm late in your class" the guy replied

"Just forget it! I knew things like this would happen right after I saw your name in my class list" the professor said

"Go and take a seat behind Ms. Salazar" the professor added as she motioned the empty seat behind Leona's

After the guy was settled in his seat, he immediately called the attention of the two ladies in front of him

"Hi guys, my name is Will Roberts." the guy introduced

"I'm Kir Villafuentes" Kir introduced

"How about her?" Will asked while pointing his index finger towards Leona's

"Oh is that so. Hi Leona, nice to meet you" Will said but got no response

The guy was so disappointed when he got no response from the girl but still manage to give a smile at Kir and mouthing the word thank you. After the discussion, the professor starts to conduct an activity and only then Will realized that he didn't bring anything with him when he arrived at the school. He was so late that he forgot to even buy some pen along the way. Before the professor would get some idea on what's happening, he immediately called Leona's attention

"Hey, may I borrow some pen?" he said in a very nice way and even pouted when Leona faced him. Leona gave him a snob but still get her purse to look for a pen. Once she found an extra on her purse, she immediately give it to Will

After a while of noises because of the student's bickering and endless moving, the class were now settled and prepared their selves for the activity. When the activity starts, Will called Leona's attention again

"Hey, can I have some of your paper?" he asked

"What kind of students who doesn't even bring anything with him in school" Leona responded

"Uhmm.. a kind of student who have some memory loss" he answered which made Leona let out a groan and give him a piece of paper

In the middle of the activity, Leona starts to feel something weird in her body. Her head keeps throbbing and whenever she looks at the board everything keeps on spinning. She couldn't even properly hear what Kir is saying

"Hey Leona, are you okay?" Kir mumbled

"What? I can't understand you. My head keeps on spinning"

And just like that, everything went to black. The last thing Leona remembers is her friend jolted from her seat and asked for some help.
