1 A Brief History

"In the year 3523 on the content of Babel humanity discovered the existence of magical potential in humans. Scholars across the globe banded together to research this phenomenon. It was discovered that magic was the product of equivalent exchange where the energies within the body or items with similar properties to the intended result must be sacrificed to produce such results. Meaning to conjure fire, heat and magical energy from the body would be used to create a flame that can be manipulated. However, if you prepare a fire you can control the flames with the bodies magical energy.

As scholars researched this phenomenon one thing became apparent quickly, magic was very energy inefficient. To produce a result similar to a flamethrower the body would become exhausted within seconds and the heat was body temperature at best. Meaning magic was considered merely a useful convince and not much more. Additionally, people needed an affinity to control or create these elements. Most people could only use one element which restrained the scholars from fully research this phenomena.

In 3530 breakthroughs in magic based research showed promising results, as the number of people learning how to cast magic increased the amount of people using it for everyday convinces increased as well. From lighting stoves to creating ice for drinks people were arbitrarily using magic. However, due to these magical energies, now named mana due to the popularity of this name among the general populace, being released from the human body into the atmosphere the potency of mana became stronger within humans and the amount of time a spell could be sustained increased before the element was isolated from the control of the person casting. After this breakthrough it became encouraged to learn how to use magic and use it as much as possible.

In the year 3537, animals and plants had become rich in mana as time went on and they became a field of study into as to how best process them so that they can enrich the mana within a person. This research was done by the governments of every nation keeping any information found secret as the potential of magic was now taken seriously as the war potential of making soldiers capable of creating cover or trenches in only seconds became a reality and bathing the enemies in flames was also now possible.

In 3550 wars began breaking out over the information regarding anything to do with magic. As time continued countries began to become more and more hostile to each other.

In 3553 the first spotting of a monster was spotted which caused all ongoing conflicts to cease as the presence of this creature was very intimidating due to the fact that this spotting and report was swiftly followed by a massacre of the neighboring cities and towns.

In 3555 society had collapsed due to these monsters killing indiscriminately and governments could no longer directed or control the masses due to the fact that these monsters appeared out of nowhere and with their terrifying control over mana and their hides that were tougher than steel people found struggling to be nigh impossible and humanity retreated underground to hide from the monsters and rebuild society.

In the year 3614 humanities understanding of magic and the uses had progressed to the point that struggling against the monsters wasn't pointless and with a large enough force killing one of these beasts became possible.

In 3789 humanity had become capable of strengthening their bodies with mana along with the beginning of using the monsters bodies to forge equipment. With the discovery of new metals and minerals that were highly conducive to mana humanity once again had hope.

After centuries of living underground some humans had started to change to adapt to the life of living underground their bodies were shorter but far better built along with an uncanny ability to create things while incorporating mana into these constructs. This ranged from weapons and armor to buildings and machines. They were also always born with affinities for earth element magic's along with metals and rarely fire magics. They became known as gnomes or dwarfs depending on their areas of speciality.

The humans who had been fighting against the beastly monsters above ground protecting the entrances to the underground cities had themselves started to take on traits of the beasts they fought along with this their bodies became far stronger, while the magic they could use no longer had any elemental affinity and instead it was more advanced types of body reinforcement magic which ranged from transformation magic to a type of mana cloaking which protected the bodies of the user while also increasing their attacking capabilities they called it Qi. They became known as beast folk.

Those who focused on the path of magic and unlocking all the potential it had started to become taller but at the same time frail these were the families of the scholars who instead of going underground had instead hidden in the forests and rainforests together. These people with very high mana reserves and thirst for magical knowledge became known as elf's and those who ascended the limits of the elf's had become known as fairies as time progressed these people had become smaller and smaller while their strength with nature based magic increased.

For those that hadn't developed from being human they slowly began to notice that their abilities in all aspects improved to a lesser degree than the other races but because of this they had the potential to change and improve unlike the others who had developed. additionally they could be born with any magical affinity and unlike other races this included both light and dark element magic.

During the same time new races had appeared unbeknownst to most of humanity. They were born from the more humanoid monsters kidnapping or isolating humans, before their retreat underground, to mate with. These ranged from demons to vampires who weren't inherently evil but their habits and sensibilities would lead to long term conflicts with humanity.

Monsters had even gained sentience in some cases such as dragons and phoenixes these hunted the non sentient beasts or anything that entered their territory.

In 4000 humanity came from underground to retake the surface only to find out that what their ancestors had told them was very different from reality. There was no sign of a civilisation ever being present on the surface instead it looked like what the world would have been if intelligent life never existed. After learning about this the humans could only speculate that due to the long time along with the destructive nature of the beast monsters it was reasonable that the world had regressed to a state that even the rubble of the previous society was nothing but dust.

After the humans had decided to start colonising the surface the dwarfs and gnomes decided to remain underground while the beast folk became a nomadic race or settled in forests. The elves and fairies had noticed the presence of what they could only assume was the so called 'rest of humanity' that their ancestors told them of. However, the elves that lived in their forests weren't the only ones to notice the humans the demonic races who had long wanted human partners took notice and began plotting.

In the year 4050 humanity had regained a functioning society above ground however conflicts once again arose as the need for resources began to stir humanity to invade the now founded countries of other races they had caused conflicts between other races that were only rivalries as to who was better to develop into full on race wars.

After the war continued for a few years a dragon named Rex Calidus that had reached a few hundred years of maturity had descended to direct these races and formed a council of the races letting them discuss problems concerning their people with each other and helping them get what they need from each other. This organisation came to be known as the guild as they would hand out jobs to their members so that they could perform tasks necessary for their countries and people.

After a few millennia in the year 8267 the world had become similar to what it once was and countries had spread across the continent splitting up the globe itself in a similar way it was before humanity discovered magic. These countries had a monarchy to rule them and things had stabilised. While the demonic races would still butt heads with the humans over allowing them to intermingle with each other it was less of a problem as this year had marked the founding of the all race kingdom run by the guild with cities dedicated to running each branch of the guild and the place that the yearly meeting of the nations named the conlocutio. The countries name was Ark.

In the year 8372 a great evil emerged and planned to throw the world into chaos. This evil was known as the beast king and he rallied the non intelligent monsters under his command and the stability of the nations became unstable and at the same time the dead started to walk and they caused the already problematic situation to turn dire as the beasts and the undead had allied to cause conflict and strife for all the nations in return they held a conlocutio early as to strategise so they can ensure that casualties could be kept to a minimum.

After a year of conflict, in the rural land of Ark a Corp of gifted humans were gathered they were all humans capable of reinforcement magic similar to the Qi that the beast folk had while also being capable of the extremely rare light magic. These gifted humans were later known as the twelve heavenly blades and they were the core force of the humans. In different places in Ark gathered the core forces of each race the elf's had their whistling woods who were soldiers gifted in most forms of magic. The fairies sent some of their best healers. The beast folk had sent their Samurai and Shinobi along with their beast companions. The dwarfs sent their battlesmiths known as the Hammers who would provide equipment support along with actual combat support. The gnomes sent their Metal benders and Mech unit. Finally the demons sent their best dark mages and assassin's. They were all preparing for a war against the forces of chaos.

In the year 8376 the war came to an end with the forces of chaos's leaders being killed/purified however the lands damages by the death element mana of the undead would continue to stay as a wasteland with undead roaming and the beasts couldn't ever be completely eradicated but for now there would be peace. However, on the site of the conlocutio an angel descended and warned that while there would be peace it would end soon as the gods had become restless in the past few thousand years and peace was something that bored them. The angel was called Evangeline Mundities and she was considered a renegade angel after warning humanity of their fate. After the revelation the races had decidedly become more cooperative with each other.

After a few years more and more angels that held sympathies for humanity began to descend and found themselves living in the kingdom of Ark in a city governed by Evangeline herself.

In the year 9583 humanity entered what the angels called the 'Era of struggles' and..."

After getting to the current era Flos Sapit noticed that her problem student wasn't listening and with a vein on her forehead bulging she yelled "LEVI are you sleeping in class you brat". Startled awake by his gorilla of an instructor "Hmm... Y-Yes, I-I mean No I-I would never sleep through your maths class"

As the rest of the class roared with laughter Flos was feeling like she was about to burst a blood vessel so she threw her chalk eraser at the disreputable student while shout "This is history class you buffoon maths was two lessons ago"
