43 Bad Kai

Lianne was rolling about silently on her bed, causing Kai to be slightly worried because he could hear no response from her.

"Lianne?" Kai called out.

Lianne took several deep breaths, wanting to reply but found herself unable to because she was grinning away too much. She felt like the words would just get caught in her throat. Just as she was about to clear her throat, she could hear him call out again, slightly more desperately this time, "Baby? You there?"

That got Lianne into a coughing fit, "Baby?!"

Kai smiled, "No? Then Sweetheart? Darling? Angel?"

"Oh God, please no," Lianne groaned, "That's so cheesy."

"Babe?"

"No," Lianne hissed, "That makes it sound like I'm some sort of gangster wife."

Kai grinned, "Take away the gangster part and I'm game."

"Shameless," Lianne scolded him, "It's only been two hours that I agreed to be your girlfriend and suddenly, it's wife?"

"Because you're the only one for me that I want to be my wife," Kai told her straight-up, "What about wife? Wifey?"

Lianne cringed, "NO. That's worse than Baby."

Even if they were married, 'wifey' sounded so … Lianne shuddered. Maybe it's the cultural difference? Over here, that endearment is seen to be so natural but to her, it was like, calling a person by their title rather than 'the person'.

"Come on, you have to give me something," Kai said, "I'm your boyfriend. I can't be all formal and call my beloved by her name. That makes me like anyone else."

Lianne giggled to herself.

To think that such a person was so clingy was certainly an eye-opener. Yet, she didn't find it nauseating nor irritating. In fact, it made her all warm inside to know that only she, Lianne, saw this part of him.

Or to be more accurate, that she was the one that brought out that side of him.

If he was like this to everyone, or even to other women, she would hit his head. With a chair.

"Just call me by my nickname then," Lianne said softly, "It's only used by those special to me. It's Li."

Kai narrowed his eyes, "How many people call you by that nickname?"

"Just two," Lianne said, "Kyle and Zero."

Urgh.

He thought as much.

When she told him that she had these two men in her life, he didn't quite like it but he accepted it. They came with the package called 'My Angel'. Like it or not, he had to get used to it.

"No," Kai replied, pursing his lips, "I want one that only I can call you."

Calling her 'Li' like the other two did made it seem like he was the same as them and that cannot be. It's fine that he had to 'share' her heart with those two - but he wanted a place in her heart that was just him. Him and him alone. No one else. No.

A thought suddenly struck him then.

Would he feel the same about their children?

Would he be jealous of his own son and/or daughter for the love and care she would give them?

He didn't know but just the thought of having children with her made him grin again. Imagine. A girl that looked just like her. He wanted girls. Girls were cute. If boys turned out like him, he'd strangle his own son.

"To think that such a big, powerful CEO could be this childish," Lianne admonished him.

Her voice brought him out of his thoughts and he laughed. Partly because what she said seemed to really be scolding him for his daydreaming earlier.

"I may be a CEO, but I'm just a man in love, wanting to call his beloved lovingly," Kai replied unabashed, "I want to be the only one who will have the right to do so."

"You sure you're Kai Sheng, CEO of Sheng Corp? Not the CEO of some Cheese Company?" Lianne retorted.

"Anyone in love is a CEO of a Cheese Company," Kai replied, wishing he was right beside her right now.

Lianne rolled her eyes, "Fine, up to you. Any term is fine then as long as it's in private. Just not Babe, okay? In public though, it's Lianne."

Kai grinned. One would think his face should be aching right now with the fact that he hadn't stopped grinning since they started talking, "Deal. So, about lunch, I'll handle it at my end. You won't be shortchanged, so just come here for lunch, okay?"

Lianne pursed her lips, agreeing softly, "Okay."

"Great! I'll get the driver to pick you up. Your apartment?" Kai asked as he placed the phone on speaker phone. He quickly, and quietly, started typing something furiously on his laptop.

"Yeah. I'll text you the address," Lianne replied.

"Great. See you tomorrow? He'll come by around 11.30am, is that okay with you?"

"Yup,"

"The driver's name is Carl and he'll be driving a Red BMW, 5 series with the licence plate XXX 1234. I know you don't like to show off so that's one of the more low-key cars I have."

Lianne snuggled closer to Leo. Okay, so he's doing good so far. How did he know she liked to be low-key? She'd probably ask him about that later.

"Lianne, can you put the phone to your ear now? Don't have it on the speaker phone." Kai asked gently.

"Huh? Okay," Lianne said, as she took the phone and did as he asked.

Placing it upon her ear, she then asked, "Done, but why?"

"Goodnight, sayang," Kai said softly, purposefully lowering his voice.

'Sayang' was an endearment often used in Country M, which basically meant 'darling'. Kai had googled it while talking to her, furiously thinking as to what he could use. Although 'sayang' sounded weird at first to him as he wasn't used to it, the moment he said it to her, though, it just felt right.

As for Lianne … with the sudden endearing term that she was familiar with, and his voice sounding so sexily close to her ear, Lianne's face went beet red.

"Goodnight," she barely managed to croak out and hung up the phone immediately.

The man wasn't playing fair!

She screamed into Leo (the poor plushie) and rolled about on her bed.

Bad Kai. Bad bad Kai!!
