2 The Argument

Three Year's Ago : Rachel's Place

"Oi Mia, Lily & Lucas will soon be here why don't you stay too?" Rachel asked.

Lily & Lucas are Rachel's paternal cousins. Lily is 6 years older than Lucas and is a very humble person.

"I can't. I have to help Mom with something later so, as soon as they're come I'm outta here." Mia replied.

"Well Lily told me earlier that Lucas isn't in a great mood these days so on second thought I think it's better we keep our distance."

Lucas's parents were getting divorced as a result he was really affected; Ofcourse Mia had no idea about this neither she was interested to know the reason.

"Well then that's his usual self actually 'cause he never shows traces of a relatively good mood ever", Mia said jokingly & Rachel nodded in agreement.

Little while later Lily came in through the front door and greeted Rachel then she turned around & gave a gentle hug to Mia and said, "Hey Mia... how's it going?"

"Good, everything's good", Mia smiled.

"Where's Lucas?" Rachel asked.

"He told me to go inside first I don't know what he's doing there" Lily replied.

"Well then that you're here I should probably head out otherwise I'll be late." Mia said.

"Where are you going? Hang out with us", Lily asked.

"She's to help Mrs.Johnson with something so she has to go." Rachel informed ; Lily turned to Mia & said, "In that case I can't keep you right?!"

"I promise I'll make up for it." Mia smiled and left the house.

Outside Mia came across Lucas so she casually said, "Hey Lucas, I heard about your..."

...tryouts. Did you make the team? was what Mia wanted to say but she was cut off in the middle by Lucas's voice.

"Fuck Off!"

Mia was stunned! "Excuse Me?"

"I don't want pity from someone like you alright." Lucas scoffed.

"What are you talking about?"

Hearing this Lucas turned around and sneered at Mia, "For someone like you Johnson, who doesn't even have a Father let alone a normal family, don't you dare pity me!"

PAK!

Lucas looked towards Mia, his eyes full of anger & hate but Mia was angrier than him. How dare he talk about her family with such a disgust and more importantly he mentioned her Father ; the person about whom she never likes to talk about not even with her Mom or Rachel. In the end she wasn't able to control herself as she landed a slap across Lucas's face.

Hearing the arguing voices outside Rachel & Lily appeared soon as Lily asked, "What's going on here?"

"Ask Him." Mia said glaring at Lucas and left.

As she walked away Rachel turned to Lucas, "What did you say to her?"

But they only got a look from Lucas as reply as he took off. Lily & Rachel were left there wondering what just happened.

Next Day : Mia's Bedroom

"Will you please tell me now what happened between you & Lucas? I've been asking you all day." Rachel sulked as she took a seat on the bedside couch.

"Just leave it Rach." Mia brushed her off.

"No! Just tell what did the jerk do to deserve a slap from you now.OK?" Rachel said firmly.

Seeing her not backing off Mia eventually gave in and told Rachel everything.

"I guess he thought you were going to talk about his parent's divorce that's why he reacted that way." Rachel said suggestively.

"What? Divorce? But I didn't know Rach and I obviously wasn't going to talk about it to him." Mia replied in surprise. No wonder he reacted that way totally misunderstanding her.

"Yeah I know, but he doesn't. And whatever the reason was he obviously has no right to vent his anger on you & talk trash about your family so I don't think you're at fault. Don't worry then." Rachel said calmly.

Mia stayed silent for a few seconds thinking then she said, "Maybe I went a bit far slapping him. I think I should apologize to him & try to clear his misunderstanding."

"Do you think he'll listen to you? After all we are talking about Lucas James here. Everyone knows he's a stubborn brat."

"Well, everyone deserves a chance and even then if he decides not to listen then that I can do nothing about. Let him think whatever he wants to think because I don't care."
