18 Is He Your Boyfriend?

"Hey"

"Oh hey!"

"Can we talk?"

Lucas was a little confused by Rachel's sudden appearance in such a serious manner.

"Okay."

Rachel had so many thoughts that were clouding her mind from the last two days since what happened in school. So, she came to talk to Lucas.

As it was weekend Mia was not here so she can easily talk to him. Lucas brought her to his room.

"What is it?"

"It's about Mia."

"What about her? Did something happen again?" Concern was evident in his voice.

Rachel sighed, "No, nothing happened. There's something else I want to talk about."

"What?" Lucas had his full attention on her.

"Lucas you know right that Me & Mia we are just like You & Mark. We've been with each other for all of our life. Every single day."

"Rachel, what are you trying to say?"

Lucas grew a little impatient as he was not able to understand what she wanted to say.

"Lucas, for all these years I've never seen her cry. Not even once! Even when her mom died she kept her emotions checked.

But, for the first time in my life I saw her crying. And infront of you at that. Do you know what this means?"

"No. What does it mean?"

Before Lucas could ask, Mark who just came to room and heard most of the conversation asked.

Lucas looked at Rachel waiting for her to continue.

"It means she trusts you completely. Maybe it's because of what happened and that time you were there for her.

And I really hate to say this but I think she trusts you even more than she trusts Me or Mark." Rachel sighed and plopped down on a chair next to the bed.

Lucas fell silent for a minute then he said, "I think you are overthinking a bit Rachel. There's no way she'll trust a guy whom she hated for years over her own bestfriend."

"Really, Lucas? Then what about her break-down that day in the office. None of us were able to calm her but the moment you stepped in she let her guard down." Rachel argued.

"Maybe..." He was cut off by Mark this time.

"I think you are right, Rachel. And this is not the first time Mia cried infront of you, is it?"

Lucas: "Yeah but..."

Mark: "There's no but buddy! It's evident that she trusts you."

Lucas fell silent again. He had no idea what to say. At this moment Rachel came and sat infront of him. She looked straight into his eyes and said,

"Lucas, will you promise me one thing?"

"What?"

"Promise me that you will never break her trust."

Lucas frowned, "Do you think I'll do something like that?"

Rachel held his hand and said, "I'm not doubting you Lucas. I trust you. And I know you would not do anything to hurt her. But I just am being cautious.

She's been hurt way too many times and in so many ways. I just don't want her to get hurt again."

Lucas relaxed as he understood Rachel's concern. He then squeezed her hand in his and assured her.

"I promise, Rach. I will never break her trust or hurt her. I will never be the reason she gets hurt."

Rachel smiled and hugged him as she said, "Thank you, brother."

Mark who was getting ignored by this loving pair of cousins whined in a cute voice,

"Hey! I want a hug too!"

Lucas & Rachel laughed at him then Rachel pulled him in and it turned in a group hug.

"Is he your boyfriend?"

"What! Who!?"

It was her first session after that day. Ms. Kelly who witnessed Mia's reaction when she was with Lucas wanted to know about their relationship.

So, that if possible she can ask him to help her out with Mia's exposure therapy in future. But Mia obviously got confused by this question.

Ms. Kelly: "Lucas James. He came to you that day."

Mia didn't know she should laugh or cry. Ms. Kelly actually thought that Lucas is her boyfriend! How in the world she came to this conclusion!

"No, Ms. Kelly. Lucas is not my boyfriend. He is just my friend." Mia then explained to her how Lucas helped her and everything.

Ms. Kelly: "Oh, I am so sorry for my mistake, Mia."

"It's alright, Ma'am. No problem." Mia smiled thinking about Rachel's reaction when she'll listen about this...
