4 Years Later

Winnie woke up to the feeling of the ground shaking. Knowing what was about to happen, she pulled her sheets closer to her. Even with earplugs, she could still hear the beeping that haunted her nightmare, the beeping that would wake her up in a cold sweat, screaming out the name of those she lost.

She slowly got up from her bed and sat on the floor, staring up at the face of the boy she loved so much.

*Flashback to 4 years ago*

Everyone went silent and stared, waiting for what would happen. Then there was the beep, the countdown, whatever you want to call it. It started slow, like how the theme song from Jaws started slow, then started beeping quicker. Everyone was looking around, wondering what the beeping could possibly mean, and then Winnie dropped to the floor.

The crowd turned at once to look at them. Winnie was lying on the ground wondering why she suddenly fell. Looking over at Glen, all she saw were his eyes, his gorgeous brown eyes, looking at her with so much fear and confusion. "Winnie, it hurts." He cried out to her grabbing her hand. Tears were in his eyes but didn't fall, they just stay there, stuck. "Glen, oh my god Glen, it's okay, you're okay." Winnie pulled him in her arms, while he moaned. "Winnie it's the clock." He looked right into her and grabbed her face, while tears poured onto her cheeks, leaving behind red streaks. "I never thought I'd be saying this." He yelled out in pain, Winnie pulling him even closer, rubbing circles on his hands. "Glen stop you're going to be okay, don't waste your breath."

"I promise you Winnie, a breathe used for you isn't wasted"

He shook violently as another pang of pain hit him.

"Be happy Winnie, all my life I've just wanted you to be happy, and I'm sorry I won't be able to see it."

He looked up at her and tried to wipe away her tears with shaking hands, his body slowly losing control.

"Glen please stop you can't leave me, I love you too much!"

"I love you too, always, in this world and the next, don't forget that." Glen felt his whole body shutting down, his throat closing, his head, oh God his head, the pressure was too much, too much too handle, too much pain, then there was no more pain.

Everything went silent.

"GLEN! NO! GLEN YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME!" She felt her heart being torn in pieces, still holding him, a tear finally fell from his eyes as she cried over him. Her best friend. The boy who used to bring her ice cream and flowers when she was sad. The boy who used to make her stalk guys he liked to see if they were "dateable". The boy who was there when she lost her brother and his three year old self told her that "I will be your brother and protect you for him".

He was gone.

For no good reason.

Her world blurred as they took away the body of the one person she had left, people holding her back while she cried and screamed.

That night she sat on the roof, eyes dry, mind numb.

She pulled the t-shirt she had stolen close to her face, still smelling the perfume that he insisted on wearing, even though it had initially been hers.

*End of flashback*

"I miss you"

She wrote it on her wall, like she had every day since he was cruelly taken from her.
