15 Black Altar

Nate stared at the place for a while.

It looked like an Inner Sanctum. Or a holy sanctuary for the gods themselves.

Nate saw the runes. It was almost like the one that he was used to seeing, but a stark difference hits the comparison.

He saw the gable roof of the sanctum which was pushed inwardly as though some forces had done the damage.

Rubbles and dirt was left piled close to an ancient black Altar.

The Altar immediately attracted his sight and he walked, tiredly to it.

Nate was already certain that he would die.

And remembering that he had asked Timothy to survive made him curse.

How on earth would he tell someone to survive when he cannot even survive his very own nightmare?

It was all stupid...

Suddenly an outburst had his head snapping to the entrance he had come in through.

It was the shadow creatures.

Of course, the creatures had expected him to die a slow death. But for him to have stood up and left told that he would be hard to get rid of which arouse the bloodlust of the creatures.

Now, their lips were opened up in a growl. They salivated at the strong scent of his blood.

Nate sighed.

He stared at the black Altar once more before climbing on it.

Blood splattered around and the next thing Nate realized was blood disappearing as soon as it touched the pristine black wooden altar.

Suddenly:

[You have sacrificed half pounds of blood to the gods...]

[The gods are dead so they cannot hear you.]

[From a lost being, you graduated to being a temple slave. You helped other slavers escape their guardians.

You defeated an Awakened Terror. You subdued the darkness.

From a temple slave, you graduated to the son of darkness. You've known the god of darkness.

And you destroyed those after your life...]

Nate blinked.

He turned towards the creatures and the next minute, they we're grabbed by these same thin threaded limbs that threatened to kill him. Then, bloody visceral dropped in a crimson pool to the altar floor.

[You have slayed three Awakened shadow creatures...]

[You have received their affinity]

Nate blinked.

[The gods stirs in their slumber...]

[They have heard you.]

[Blessings of the seven gods are now descending on you...]

[You have received your true attributes]

[Memories are rewinding...]

[Your Nightmare is over.]

Nate stiffened.

How on earth had his actions warranted his sudden victory.

Nate already believed that death was near. He believed that he would loose his life no matter what.

Plus that voice, which sounded like his has already made it clear of his inability to survive and that fact crippled him.

But now, what is this?!

His nightmare is over?

The next thing Nate realized was that, he was no longer in the cursed cave of the already dead God of darkness.

The only thing positive is that, Nate now bears the mark as the only surviving descendant of the god of darkness.

Nate was in a seamless void, endless and dark. The tapestry was rather intrinsic and modest. It was a boundless realm of both reality and dream coalescing together.

Everything seemed so ethereal and breathtaking.

[Nateai Luster, son of the gods, receive your boon!]

Then, runes describing his information hovered in the air.

Nate was staring blankly, eyes unable to decipher what he had just seen.

He started accessing the runes from the very beginning.

Yes, he was Nate... now known as Nateai Luster by the Supremos.

And of course he had attained the god of darkness's lineage by chance.

That was his fate.

[Fated] already said so much.

Then, over to his rank.

There are ranks that the Cosmic system attain.

[The Aspirants], [the Perspiring], [the attaining], [the destructive], [the devastating] and [the Fluctuating].

At first, he was an aspirant. But now, he was perspiring.

Then, in the aspect of his core.

There are seven ranks to everything in the Cosmic System.

These ranks are, in order of growing power:

Dormant, Awakened, Ascended, Transcendent, Supreme, Sacred and Divine (with the exclusion of Creatures, who were ranked as Dormant, Awakened, Fallen, Corrupted, Great, Cursed and Unholy).

Everything was falling right in place for Nate. His knowledge of the Cosmic system becoming more clearer.

Then, his class.

This particular fact applied to the very fragments.

The fragments were the very number of souls he must have absorbed from the core of creatures or humans that he would have slayed.

So the classes were:

Beast, monster, demon, devil, Terror, Tyrant, Wraiths and Mongrels.
