Chapter 14 : Blessing (2)

It was almost quite some time and Roth was still sitting there. Lexia was getting nervous as she was looking at the boy's figure worriedly.

A hand clasped her shoulder.

"He might have so many classes to choose from. You know how he trained right?" Glidal comforted Lexia.

She nodded, and stared back at Roth.

15 minutes… 20 minutes… 30 minutes…

Now, even Glidal was getting worried. Nobody they knew has spent this much time choosing a blessing.

Thankfully he stood up, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"Sorry for waiting, it's hard to choose a skill. There were countless of colors, but regrefully no epics" Roth turned around and joked while smiling as he showed his class.

Class : Cleric (White)

Rank : I

Skills: Heal (Heals wounds), Offensive blessing (Temporarily increases attack power), Defensive blessing (Temporarily increases defensive power)

"Sadly, due to the lack of my three concepts. I only gained three skills." He said nonchalantly.

Lexia and Glidal was smiling since they knew it was one of his choices.

*Tsk* Sapphine was greatly disappointed.

"Cleric?" She staggered towards the table and seated on her chair. She poured wine on her glass and started drinking.

Everyone snickered at the dejected elf.

They all got back to their previous places and started the feast again.

A rumbling noise was heard, and magical power slowly started a disturbance.

They glanced at the direction, and it was where Mr. Coachman disappeared.

The space slowly cracked and a purplish void started to expand.

"No need to be alert, that's Belial's spell." Sapphine causally said while chewing.

The void was fully expanded and people started to walk out.

Mr. Coachman was the first one to show himself and bowed again to them.

"Please welcome, His Majesty, King Vernon Loutherid, and Court Mage Belial."

The king walked out in his valiant glory. The people instinctively stood up and prepared to greet.

"At ease, no need to be so formal." The King's voice echoed in the training ground.

Everyone complied as they just bowed to him.

An old man went out using his wand as a cane went out. He wore the same black and white robe embroiled with different letterings that can only be described as runic symbols. He was smiling, but his eyes suddenly widened as he saw Roth.

His eyes went extremely sharp and serious as he dropped his wand and clasped at the air as if he was gripping something. Then he slowly moved his hands towards the center. His magic power was released in full force making the other people unable to move.

Five gold magic circles appeared surrounding Roth. Each circle suddenly shot out silver chains with a bladed tip. The one above his head circled his eyes and bound them like a blind fold then speedily gagged his mouth as the tip of the chain pointed at his throat making blood slowly drip. The other chains bound each of his limbs and stretched him on each direction denying his resistance.

After this, Belial's eyes went gold and the heavens started to dim. Dark clouds were accumulating at an alarming rate, creating a small vortex on the center while lighting could be seen gathering into it.

Lexia and Glidal wanted to shout at the unexpected situation but it was for naught, they were too weak to even move or speak!

"Stop." Vernon said calmly.

There were three people ready to end Belial at this moment. Vernon had his blade on his neck, Mr. Coachman had a dagger on his back, and Sapphine who was crouching in front of him was aiming for his heart.

The other people still couldn't believe what was happening as they were still rendered immobile.

Belial awoken from his impetuous actions and cancelled his spell. The clouds started to clear, only the bindings of Roth remained.

"Remove the spell Belial. The people here needs an explanation. We can't barge into their house and spit on them." Vernon was serious.

He understood the King, but after looking at the boy. The boy really looked like 'him'.

"Before I remove the spell, my King and Viscount Glidal, hear me out. My actions have meaning as I always do." He retracted his exuding magic power making everyone move again.

"That boy… looks exactly like the second king of Xaria."

All of the people were shocked, and inwardly questioned 'The Mad Tyrant of Xaria?'

The King was the most shook, since he was sure that they eradicated all traces of lineage from that cursed family.

"Are you sure?" The king asked in deep concern.

"Yes, he looks like the spitting image of him." He sighed as the old man started to unveil a glimpse of his past.

"I was there. I was a young scholar at the time when he was crowned the successor for the throne."

Another bombshell was revealed. Now Lexia understood why she couldn't get a read on the old monster, he was around 4,000 years old.

The King removed his blade from Belial's neck, and Mr. Coachman also backed away when he saw this. Only Sapphine was left threatening the old man.

King Vernon faced the Dawnsteel family.

"My humble apologies, but this matter is of utmost importance to the survivability of the kingdom and its people." The King said to them.

Glidal and Lexia was greatly worried but couldn't say anything. They clenched their fists and nodded hesitantly.

"Check properly, since we were sure that all bloodlines were extinguished that day." The king ordered.

"I'll use analyze." Belial complied.

The people were disgusted at the thought that even he had that skill.

Belial stared at the chained figure of Roth and took a good look.

"Impossible. A Cleric." he was stunned as most of the direct line of that family always had an insidious class that was usually an epic rarity.

Mr. Coachman winced.

"Release the chains, Belial." The King was relieved as he didn't need to deprive another innocent child's life.

"My Lord, I may be old, but I believe in my gut. That's how I survived for so long... Can you use that?" Belial asked the King.

"To satisfy your curiosity." He reached out his hand. A blade protruded slowly. Its edge was dark and menacing with fingerprints scattered that were painted in red. Even the grip was dark and creepy as a fresh hand mark can be seen.

The king went close to Roth as he used the tip of the blade to touch the blood slowly running down the boy's neck.

The sword showed no reaction.

"Is this enough Belial?" The King asked.

"Yes, your majesty." Still confused, Belial released his spell.

Sapphine withdrew her weapon and went back to her seat.

The chains released him to the ground as he was panting on all fours. His friends and family quickly went up to him and held him up.

"Are you OK?" Raymond asked.

Roth took a deep breath.

"That was scary." He said as he started to laugh nervously.

Glidal and Lexia smiled as they knew Roth was fine.

Belial went over and apologized to everyone, especially Roth.

"Sorry little one." His tone was filled with regret.

"It's fine Lord Belial, I was just surprised." He bowed as he smiled.

Belials old heart ached as he actually harmed an innocent and polite boy.

"It is not fine boy, I can't forgive myself for committing such transgressions."

"It's truly fine Lord. I can immediately test my skill" Roth placed his hand on his throat.

"Heal." The small wound closed and the slight bleeding stopped.

"As you can see, I'm fine." Roth said as he wandered his hand on his neck to check if there are any scars.

Belial was really surprised at the boy that he could easily recover from the shock he brought by assaulting him. The old man then flicked his fingers and his wand flew to him, and used it as a rest while he was standing.

"Tell you what, I'll give you anything you want. Of course, if I can." Belial smiled.

Roth thought for a moment.

"Nothing as of now." He simply stated.

"This won't do." Belial's wrinkly eyebrows creased as he thought of something.

A subspace was summoned and Belial reached through and got a book.

It was a book plainly covered in white all around.

"This will do for now. When you thought of something, just tell me." He handed the book to Roth

"From Gathia. Don't show it to any priests." The old mage continued as he laughed and made his way to the king.

Roth placed the book in his storage ring, and a hand ruffled his head.

"Are you really fine?" Glidal asked.

"Yes Lord Glidal, I was just surprised. I'm just a little bit sad that I couldn't actually see the skill used." He joked.

The family laughed at his humor.

"It was crazy. My butt was rooted on the ground." Lilian replied to him.

"Language lady." A sharp glare came from Lexia.

They laughed again.

"Raymond, Come here!" Sapphine shouted from the table.

They remembered that they needed to deal with Raymond's Hero class, that's the main reason Mr. Coachman left and called the King and Belial.

Before they went back, Roth turned to them.

"Thank you."

They all smiled as they went back to their seats.
