7 Chapter 7

As we left the school I linked my arm with Jake's. He gave me a look but didn't say anything. I was really excited. I googled go carts during my last class. I was afraid we were going to be playing with shopping carts. I still would of played with shopping carts but this sounds way more fun.

I was trying to get him to run to the car but he was walking like a snail. I almost started stomping my feet. Some of his friends caught up to us with our school zone pace that Jake set.

"Let's go! !!" I finally start pulling on his arm again.

"We will get there calm down." Jake said smiling at me.

"She looked up go carts during our last class. I told her I was going to beat her at every race. " Mark states laughing.

"Ugh... You are not. Im not sitting with you next week." I tell him crossing my arms.

"We'll win and make Mark buy us icecream! " Cole breaks out. He's another one of the team. I sat with him earlier. Finally learning some of their names.

"I don't know. Maybe we should just go home and do homework. I have a huge project due monday. " Jake says looking at his car. I felt my face fall. I push it all back.

"We can do that. I can help you if you want." I tell him making sure the disappointment isn't in my voice. He grabs onto my hand.

"Really? " Mark asks.

"No. Not really. Run Mia." Jake breaks out pulling me to the car. He hurries up unlocking it pushing me thru the drivers side to climb over. He jumps in after me. My heart starts racing as I can't stop laughing. I seriously thought that we weren't going.

"This is exciting! !!" I tell him buckling up. He smiles at me and pulls out of the school parking lot.

We get to the mall and head to the go-cart track. Jake stopping for popcorn. He hands me the bag and grabs a couple bottles of water. We sign up for the track and then sit at the bleachers waiting for our friends.

We sit there eating popcorn and watching the races between people who got here earlier. For the first time in a real long time I feel like a kid.

"Jake thanks for becoming my friend." I tell him as I think about how relaxed and easy it has been to be around him.

"No problem Mia. You do know I'm still going to wipe the track with you though?"

"It wouldn't be interesting if you let me win Jake. " I tell him smiling at him.

"Okay good. I don't want you attacking me with your Barbie dolls later."

"You wish."
