10 CH9:R:Un-invited Elder

Reanna glimpse the dagger piercing the eye socket of one of the men who were on their tail. Regulus awed at the action, yelp in hope. She just stood there clutching her brother's back, looking back at the scene.

The man who got struck through the eye with the dagger which happens to pierced straight into the brain stood there shock with indignation at his death. The man collapses to the grass, he's fellow gawks at he's counterparts downfall.

The elderly man stands taller from his hunch form. He seems to be waiting for the panicky tension the other man gawking at him to lesson into calm resolve. The courtesy was not lost on him, the other man stopped his gawking and began his cautious walk to the man.

"You don't have any more of those daggers…" The worrying man says.

The hunched man dusted himself off and just waited for the cautious man to charge.

"Fuck it." 10 paces away, the man charges with an overhead sword strike. The old man pivots with his great cloak, and punch the man through the throat. The man collapses from his gurgling, dying on the grassy ground with blood spurting.

The elderly man had a bloodied dagger lodged between fingers. The man knelt near the gurgling corpse, and wipe his dagger clean on the man's black shirt.

"Sshh, kid. We all die when the time comes." The elderly man eerily says.

The pupils of the man dilate than inevitable fade into an empty gaze of the elderly man.

The elderly man stands up, he then approaches the dead man with a knife lodge into man's left eye.

Balic enters the courtyard garden with a man following behind, the man held a leather bag on his back, they both halt to the sight of the elderly man pulling out a knife of one of their fellows. Balic's sneering face turns to frustrations as he glares down at the elderly hunched man.

Reanna spots Balic's left side was trickling blood onto the grassy floor. She inhales a breathe, as the realization hits her. 'Jayce, no please Regis, no.' Reanna's puffy eyes began to ball more tears, she tries to hold her self from the idea of her beloved Jayce dead.

"Who are you old man?" Balic sneers, as he prepares himself for another fight by lifting his warhammer ready to charge.

"This generation has no manners." The elderly man stands up from the corpse with a pierced eye.

"Ah well, I've been called many names throughout the years...but you can call me Siger."

"Pft, It's past your bedtime old man, are you lost?" Balic sarcastically sneers which happen to annoy Reanna's despondent mood into fury. 'He killed my Jayce…and who knows how many.'

"Quite right. I happen to stumble upon these men chasing those kids over there, so I thought I'd offer them my assistance. Pray tell, do you happen to know the whereabouts of the lord of the manor?" Siger tiredly yet gruffly inquires.

"So you are looking for the lord of the manor?" Balic cynically sneers.

"That's right…"

"Well, he is here with us, silly old man." Balic nods to his fellow. The fellow removes his leather bag from his person, opening and pulling out a decapitated head of Rembrant. Regulus still sobbing from the death of his mother, began to scream at the reveal of his father's head.

Balic took the head out of his fellow's hands, and with a low ball throw, the head clatters and rolls, hitting Siger's feet. Siger ganders down to the dead eye of Rembrant. He sighs mightily.

"Such a waste…" Siger says in disappointment.

"I am guessing those are his children?" Siger sways his hand in their direction.

"That is none of your concern." Balic sneers, while worriedly glancing between the two corpses lying near Siger's person.

Balic's fellow man, pulls out a flintlock, pointing towards Siger's direction.

"Old man, leave this place or the last moments of your life will be smashing that bearded face in." Balic snarls.

"Thanks for answering my questions, I will be willing to take those kids off your hands out of courteous of your two dead men."

"You dare?" Balic furiously challenges.

"Fire!" Balic orders.

The man with the flintlock fires. no signs of the metal ball hitting the old man.

"Fucking useless," Balic says in disgusts.

The old man pivots and threw two daggers at the same motion with both his hands spread. The two daggers spun through the air homing to their targets. The man reloading his flintlock got struck straight into the forehead, meanwhile, Balic lifts his warhammer head to block the incoming dagger away from his face.

Cling!

"Fuck, fuck." Balic frustratingly says.

Siger ignoring Balic's situation turns his back to him and head straight to the children. Reanna glaring daggers at Balic turns her eyes towards Siger.

"Who are you?" She says.

"A friend of your father." He replies.

Regulus clutching her hand saw the exhausted expression on Siger's face. "Are you alright mister?" he worryingly ask.

"I an fine boy. Let's get to moving."

"But what about Balic?" Reanna staring at Siger's weary look.

"No time, he is probably waiting for more men to act. I know he's sort." Siger adamantly said.

Reanna and Regulus both hurriedly follow Siger as he pushes past the back gate of the courtyard leading out into the forest that is surrounding the manner. Siger glancing back at their anxious expressions sighs deeply.

"What are your constitution stats?" The elderly man asks the two of them.

Reanna pictures her noble blood in her mind's eye.

{User: Default}

{Class Rank: Soldier}

{Strength: 13}

{Constitution: 14}

{Dexterity: 15}

{Intelligence: 14}

{Perception: 14}

She sighs at her low stat ratings, but she never cared about her stats unlike the other noble children in Regalia. She knew her culture thrive on stat ratings, which noble have infinitely better stats than other, to compete on matches for their family and duels of dishonor.

"14…" Reanna embarrassingly says.

"Uhm...12," Regulus says as he downcast to his feet.

"Better than nothing I suppose." Siger sighs.

"Get on my back, boy. We are gonna run all night." Siger knelt down, exposing his back to Regulus as he prepares to take on his weight.

"Are you sure?" Reanna ask.

"There is no time, he will slow us down if we don't," Siger replies.

Regulus gingerly climbing onto Siger's back, held tight to his person. Regulus with a steady maneuver stands up with a grunt.

"Keep up girl." He says as he begins to jog towards the forest barrier.

"Where are we heading?" Reanna pants, jogging behind him.

"Not towards the town nearby, we going to hike across the mountain peaks bridging out from the forest," Siger replies as he grunted at the jostling weight of Regulus.

"Won't those men catch up with us?"

"It's dark, and that man you call Balic, won't be eager to fight at the moment. It seems he is injured."

Reanna painfully smiles at Siger's words. 'Jayce…' She sighs the memory that she recently had with him, where she was in his arms at the garden courtyard.

"I hope he dies from his wounds…" Reanna curses out.

"Know where you guys are heading?" Siger anxiously inquires. Reanna hears the tone of his voice, she somewhat stumbles on a low branch that was sticking out near their trek.

"To my brother, who is in the army." She pants out, Reanna has no time to pause and talk as they hike uphill through the forest.

"Ah okay, I'll do my best to get you, children, there."

"How do you know my father?" Regulus says on his back.

"I'll answer your question in due time, little man."

They hike through the mist covered forest all night, heading towards the Revon Mountains, the namesake of the children's eldest brother.
