12 WardRobe Malfunction

Day of event, Saturday

Finally, the day has arrived. It was the event night. This was organized in XYZ office building as there was a huge event hall and beautiful garden area adjacent to it which is beautifully designed to organize all major events happening in the city. A wonderful idea to incorporate business. The sponsors just have to pay for the event part and not bothered about the event place and arrangements. The event hall runaway was beautiful decorated with a red carpet. All the judges and top celebrities were sitting in the VIP area. The ramp was glittering with golden themed lights,

Mike and David went backstage and saw Alandra briefing everyone. Alandra came to them and said in a commanding tone

"Hey IT guys, Make sure the event's live streaming starts on the portal and there aren't any technical glitches. Have you done the tests?"

"Yes Alandra. all set. No technical issues. We are good with the live stream. " David replied checking the portal and the video stream.

Mike and David was going towards the control room. When they saw Kelly who was wandering from here to there. She seems tense and frustrated.

Mike asked her " Hey Kelly. why are you wandering here and there? Whom you are searching for?"

"Hey. I am looking for my hairstylist. She was supposed to be here 30 mins back but she has not arrived yet. " Kelly said in a worried tone.

"Try calling her. Maybe she is stuck in traffic or something?" David said now focusing his full attention on her.

"I already did but her number is switched off. ' Kelly replied while calling her again.

Mike then assured Kelly 'I will check the lobby. Maybe she might be in the lobby. Sometimes the phone reception gets really bad in the lobby" saying so Mike left for the lobby.

David grew a bit angry and asked "Who arranged the hairstylist? Can't they arrange any professional one?"

"It's the usual lady Cassandra who always does my hairs for the events."

"You mean Frank's friend?"

"Yup."

"So maybe someone had told her not to show up."

"Damn I never thought this way. How could Frank do this to me? Let me talk to him."

"It's not the right time kells. We have to first fix your hair. "

Meanwhile, Mike reached again.

"Hey guys, I looked everywhere but can't spot any hair stylist. There were very few people from PRs and some reporters. "

"Mike this is a setup. The hairstylist will not show up. The one who was supposed to be here was Frank's friend. I know you are new but do you know anyone who can help us?"

Mike thought of Melissa. Though Melissa is a fashion designer he know her best friend Samaira is a makeup artist. He took out his phone and called Mellisa

"Hey Mel..."

"What is it mike? Is it Jeff again. Look I am in no mood..."

"Hey Mel. I need your help. We have an important event today and my friend kelly's makeup artist has not shown up. Can you and Samaira come here ASAP? It's urgent."

"umm..sure"

"Great. I will text you the location."

Mike hanged up the call and texted Melissa the location. In another 20 mins, Melissa and Samaira have come to the office. Mike was standing with David and Kelly. David was giving assurance to Kelly and calming her down.

Melissa rushed towards Mike and asked, "Where is the green room?"

Kelly looked at them and replied, " The green room is already occupied."

Samaira asked a bit confused " So where will we work and get you ready?"

Mike thought for a minute and said, "Guys follow me."

He leads the way to their IT Department

David looked at Mike and reacted "Are you stupid Mike?"

"Why? What's the problem. Only you and I sit here and no one even by mistake comes here. So they can work here and Kelly can get ready." Mike said confidently.

"Mike is right, Dave. We should make use of this room. We are already running late." Kelly said.

"Alright. I want you both to leave so that we can start our work." Samaira said looking at both of the guys.

Mike and David left and came into the control room. They checked the sound and video camera and connection to the site for the live stream. They settled down in the control room doing some testing of the live stream. They could see the runaway and the audience. They can see many top actors, actresses, producers, and high-end fashion designers present. After a few minutes, the show starts with Lucas's welcome speech with his co-anchor as none other than Catherine.

"Of course what else could have been expected? Catherine is fine with Lucas snooping around with other chicks." Mike thought. After the welcome, the fashion show started. Various models dressed in the beautiful summer collection dresses were making their way on the runway.

Finally, Kelly made her entrance dressed in a green mermaid tube sequin dress to the runway. She was looking drop-dead gorgeous. her makeup and hairstyle were perfect. Samaira has really done her job very well. After completing the ramp walk Kelly stood on the right side 1st-row position.

Once kelly's walk was completed came the showstopper Serene dressed in Crimson colored dress. Serene's makeup was way too loud in red lipstick, medium pink blush and smokey eyes. She was looking more devilish. After completing the walk on the runway it was time for the 1st-row model to step beside the showstopper.

This is when Serene purposefully put her hands on her elbow making sure the elbow hurt Kelly while Kelly is walking. Kelly lost her balance and fell on the runway. Everyone was shocked.

Kelly however, stood up immediately and completed the show.

After the show is over Kelly went back to the IT room. There was a refreshment break of 15 mins. David and mike rushed to the It department. They saw Kelly sitting on the chair with her hands over her face. She is sobbing. Melissa and Samaira were sitting beside her on other chairs trying to console her.

"Hey Kells..are you ok? We saw what happened..that bit*h Serene did it purposefully." David said sitting on her knees in front of her.

"But we are proud of you Kelly. You really handled the situation very gracefully. Don't worry. everything will be alright soon." Mike tried assuring her.

Melissa hesitated a bit and then spoke, "Actually mike there is something more."

Both Mike and David were shocked by melissa's statement.

"What do you mean?" David asked standing up.

Melissa sighed and then told "Actually I was helping Kelly with the dress and we found that the dress fitting has tampered. Kelly did a practice walk with her dress on in this room before the show and that is when we found that this dress is not as per her size and it looked like it is been tampered with. I have fixed the dress with a safety pin behind it. See?"

Melissa pointed to kelly's back and they can see the safety pin head tucked to adjust the dress.

"That means If you wouldn't have been here and fixed it then..." Mike is shocked and sat on the chair.

Samaira added. "Yes then there would have been massive wardrobe malfunction on the runway and I believe that was someone's intention."

"And when that plan failed Serene pushed her." Mike said thoughtfully

"Exactly," Both Melissa and Samaira said in unison.

"I will not leave that bastard Frank..." David said closing his fist.

David's blood was boiling in anger.

"Dave please wait.' Kelly held his hands.

"No Kells..that guy really needs a lesson."

"David I am already shattered. My career is ruined. No one will take me to their events now. Plus I am not alone. I have another mouth with me to feed." Kelly said sobbing.

"Kelly are you out of your mind? You have a whole life in front of you. "

David cupped her face in his hands.

"David is right, Kelly. You should get rid of the baby?" Mike spoke standing from his chair and looking at Kelly.

Kelly looked at Mike "how do you know?'

Mike realized what he just spoke.

"When I came for the interview I was sitting in the reception area and I overheard your and Frank's conversation." Mike confessed.

Kelly sighed

"So you knew the whole time.: Kelly asked. Her eyes were blood red. Stating emotions of anger, emptiness, and betrayal.

David looked at Kelly and took her hands into his " Kelly that is not the point. The point is you have to be strong."

"I don't want to talk about it now. I just want to go home. Dave, can you please drive me home?"

David looked at Mike. He assured him stating that he will take care of the event and David needs to drive Kelly home. David nodded.

David and Kelly left.

Mike thanked Melissa and Samaira and they took a leave as well. Mike made his way to the control room again.
