6 The supermarket Gossips

Mike reached the nearest grocery market which is 5 minutes distance from his apartment. He reached inside the shop grabbed a basket and started picking the essentials-Bread, butter, Eggs, Bacon. He then thought of picking some cakes, cookies, and dips for the breakfast. he entered the food section and saw 2 women talking to each other. He accidentally heard their conversation.

Woman 1: Did you see the latest news?

Woman 2: What news?

Woman 1: The famous A-lister actress Lucy's name has come out in a scam. Seems like for popularity her PR team used to create fake profiles on social media and used to follow her account and used to complement her via comments.

Woman 2: O gosh. These celebrities are so fame hunger people I tell you.

Woman 1: And the shocking part is that her PR team belongs to the famous XYZ company.

Woman 2: Omg. Isn't it the top media and event management company?

Woman1: It is. I have heard its CEO is retired now and has handed over his company to his son who is misusing it.

Woman 2:Even I heard the CEO's wife is a socialite who runs a charitable institution and in name of charity she use the money for her personal benefits.

Woman 1: Wow these people are so bad. I tell you. Thankfully none of my friends are associated with these companies or celebrities.

Woman 2: Same with me. Let's check the drinks section. I need some fresh orange juice. Planning to make the shepherd pie this weekend.

Woman 1: Wow that's great

Both women went to another section.

Mike sighed and took the required things. He went to the payment counter and waited for his turn.

He saw those 2 women on the counter adjacent to him. He could clearly hear their voice.

Woman 1: I have heard they pay very well to their employees.

Woman 2: Do they make so much profit?

Woman 1: I have heard they are the top event company and all major events happen via them. All big contracts go to them.

Woman 2: Do they bid so good? It's really interesting despite all competition they are always on the top.

Woman 1: I am not sure on that part but they have many contacts. There are rumors that the CEO's son is a mafia don and also a womanizer. Apparently, he is the new CEO now.

Woman 2: Really?

Woman 1: Who knows. By the way, I need to collect my dress from the dry cleaner. It's on your way home. So I will drop you.

Woman 2: Thanks. It becomes hectic otherwise to wait for a cab and carry all these groceries.

Mike's turn came. He swiped his credit card and paid the bill. He took the grocery bag and exited the supermarket.

"People really don't have any work. They are such gossipers." He thought.

Mike reached the apartment. He saw Jeff getting ready and Melissa who is adjusting his jacket.

Mike greeted them " Hi Jeff. Hi Mel." he then turned to Jeff, "I thought you are going for an audition."

Jeff then still focused on his jacket replied: "Ya I am but Mel insisted that she will help me in styling up saying I don't have fashion sense."

Melissa interrupted him in between " Because you really don't. What's up Mike? I heard you got a new job."

Mike replied proudly "Yes. I have started working for XYZ Corporates"

" Oh wow. Congrats." melissa congratulated him in a cheerful tone.

She further scanned Mike from top to bottom.

"Don't tell me this is what you wear to work?"

" Yes. I am coming from the office. And what's wrong. The clothes are so comfortable." Mike said casually

"It's not about comfort but fashion and style and XYZ is one of the glamorous companies. You cannot go like that."

"You are forgetting I am an IT guy."

" So what. It doesn't matter. You cannot go to work wearing these kinds of clothes. Let's go shopping this weekend. We really need to work on your dressing style." Melissa told him in a commanding voice.

"Am I your new project?" Mike raised his brow

"I am glad it's not me this time." Jeff laughed.

Melissa looked at both boys with an angry face and said "Jeff you should thank your stars for getting a fashion designer girlfriend and Mike you are lucky that you are Jeff's roommate and I am offering to help you."

"Sorry baby. Anyway, the treat for Mike's new job is pending so we will go mall on weekend. I am all in for free food." Jeff instantly changed the topic to free food.

"Woah...I never agreed guys." Mike intertwined

"Well you don't have much of a choice Mike," Melissa responded with a smirk.

"So how do I look mike?' Jeff asked looking in the mirror

"Are you are doubting my skills baby?" melissa said in a high-pitched tone.

"No baby just showing Mike that you can do wonders with styling." Jeff sugarcoated his sentence.

Melissa smiled "I know."

"Anyways I should get going. Mel Let me drop you on the way."

"Alright."

Melissa goes to the table and takes her sling bag.

"Bye Mike. See you on weekend." Melissa waved.

"Bye Bro." Jeff followed Melissa

"Bye"

After Melissa and Jeff left Mike went to his room, He put the office bag on the table, and crashed on his bed. He was so tired to put on the lights of the room. He closed his eyes for some time and thought about today's all-day events. He remembered the conversation with David, things about Catherine, and then the gossip he heard at the supermarket.

Unable to relax he opened his eyes and took his mobile and checked the news.

The news was flashing the headline "Top actresses followers list-fake or real"

It was showing some people who are involved in this scam including the name of actress Lucy. There was also mention of the PR manager who used to handle their work however in the case of Lucy there was the name of an individual and not XYZ company.

People spread fake news and just want to take the company name down. He thought. He then got up changed, made dinner out of the bread, eggs, and some bell pepper. After dinner, he had a relaxing shower, and finally, he retired to bed.
