8 The Chaos

As Mike moved from Catherine Desk towards my cabin he thought of using the restroom before the start of work. As he went to the restroom he heard 2 guys entering the restroom. Since he was inside one of the rooms they were unaware of his presence. Mike could hear their voices crystal clear.

Guy 1: So did you hear? The actress Lucy's news is all out.

Guy 2: I know. I am wondering who was that stupid PR who was so careless to handle this in an unprofessional manner. How can she just use the main connection and not the proxy to browse and login to profiles?

Guy 1: Do you really want to know who is it?

Guy 2: What you mean? Do you know?

Guy 1: Of course. Everyone knows that it's none other than Lucas sweetheart.

Guy2: Catherine?

Guy1: Yup

Guy 2: Are they seriously dating?

Guy 1: Not about the seriousness but how do you think she has survived for 3 years in this company with all these mistakes and mess up.

Guy2: Right. So Lucas really covers her shits.

Guy1: Yup...By the way, there is a new coffee shop downstairs. So want to grab a coffee?

Guy 2: Sure

Mike can hear their voices going away. He came out of the restroom, washed his hands, and adjusted the clothes. All this time his mind was wandering on one thing: "So Catherine is the PR involved and also she is dating Lucas the CEO of the company. No doubt she managed to cover it all."

He got out of the restroom and moved towards his department. As soon as he opened the door he saw David.

Mike greeted him " Hey David. Good morning."

David was yawning and stretching his body. "Hey Mike...Morning."

Mike looked at him carefully. David was looking terrible with red baggy eyes, messed up hairs, and a tired face.

Mike asked him "Hey didn't you take a good sleep yesterday? You look like shit?"

David looked at him angrily and replied " Bro you can't get sleep when CEO girlfriend fuck up big time and all you have to do is clean her shit all night."

Mike was a bit shocked. His eyes were open wide now. "You mean you were up all night?" Mike asked.

David's face grew red with anger. "What does it look like to you?"

"Is it true then? The fake profile news for the actress and our PR team been involved?" Mike asked to confirm his suspicion.

"Of course it is true but I have managed to clear all traces so we don't have to worry about it.' David told sheepishly

"No wonder Catherine asked me to set up the proxy," Mike informed David while opening his laptop

"You meet Catherine and set up a proxy on her system?"

"Yeah. I kind of ran into her in the cafeteria and then she asked me for some help with her system. When we reached her desk she showed her laptop where different social media windows were opened logged in from different accounts. I have set up proxy and have cleared the browsing history a few mins back."

"Thanks, Man. I didn't want to go to her desk after yesterday's shitty night clearing her mess."

"So it's true?"

"what?"

"Catherine and Lucas...Are they dating?"

"Well my friend here the relationship survives until you expect anything serious from another person and Catherine is one such girl who enjoys her casual relationship with Lucas and in return gets a fat salary, bonuses, promotions every year. She is the one who always works with A list actress.

By the way, I am starving. Let's go to the cafeteria." David suddenly diverted from the topic as his stomach growls.

"I actually had my breakfast. But I will accompany you."

David raised his brows and asked, "With Catherine?"

"Yeah, kind of."

"Mike listen to my advice. Try staying away from her. She is nothing but trouble. Provided you don't want to mess with Lucas."

"Ya I got your point. Don't worry she is just a friend."

Little did Mike know back then...

They went to the cafeteria and then to the smoking zone. As they were discussing random things, they saw Kelly. She saw them and waved. she came near them.

"Hey Dave, Hi Mike. Do you guys have extra lights?"

"I don't think you should smoke kells." David told her in a soft and caring manner.

"I am really frustrated, Dave. I need to cool down." Kelly told anxiously.

Kelly was looking really tense. Her hairs were tied in a messy bun and she had nude makeup, unlike other days. It seemed that she is constantly worried about something and is unable to focus.

"Hey take this."

Mike handed his untouched coffee mug to her.

"And what about you?" Kelly asked him

"I will get another one."

Mike went to the pantry and got another cup of coffee. He moved towards the smoking zone and joined David and Kelly. He can sense the tense and irritating atmosphere.

Kelly took the sip of coffee and closed her eyes for a minute inhaling the caffeine. David and Mike were silent. Suddenly kelly broke the silence.

"Can you believe for the upcoming event I am not selected for being the showstopper? Do you think there are any bimbo's here better than me? What do They think of themselves?"

"Calm down Kells. Maybe next show they will..." David assured her

"Cut the crap, Dave. You know how it works here. Frank says I have put on weight and I won't be fit for the showstopper. And now the stupid bit*h Serene is selected to be the showstopper. Have you seen her ramp walk? she even can't walk properly."

"I think you should take a break Kell from all this?" David told thinking about something.

"And lose my position? I am the top model Dave. I can't afford the break and moreover, I can't leave Frank with Serene. Anyway, I need to go and see what that bitch is up to."

"Ok kells. Be careful." David told in a concerned tone.

"I will...You know you are the sweetheart."

She pulled David's cheeks.

So David was friend-zoned AGAIN. Though he considered kells a good friend but his genuine concern for her depicts a very loving side of him which made Mike wonder if she likes her.
