3 First Day First show

Third Person's POV

The next day Mike is dressed in formal attire and left for the office in the morning at 9 am.

Thankfully yesterday I had ample time after the interview to iron my outfit, polish the shoes, and organize my office bag. He thought.

He left for the office. While he was in the cab he received a call from his mother.

"Hey, Mom."

"Hey, my baby. How are you? It's been a month and we haven't heard from you. Are you alright?"

"Yes, Mom I am fine. Today is my first day at the job."

"Oh great. But you have not grown so big a young man that you will not inform me about the great things in your life. I was expecting a call from your end." His mother told with a frown face.

Mike replied in an affectionate manner " I know Mom. I am sorry. Actually, I thought maybe I should settle down a bit in the job and then will inform you."

"Ok. By the way, did you had your breakfast? I hope you are not skipping it anymore."

"Mom...please"

"Ok, Baby... I will not ask again. Now I know about your job. So tell me where are you working?"

"Mom, it's a media company. XYZ Multinational. They deal with media coverage, report, and organize events."

"And what are you going to do there?' she asked curiously

"I am a part of their technical team who will be looking and developing their sites and managing their event's site customization."

"Well, best of luck baby and just try to be only professional. Don't get too personal." His mother says in a worried tone.

"Mom they are good people and plus they are giving me a big fat salary."

"I am warning you. Be careful of them."

"Ok, Mom. Anyways I have reached the office. I will talk to you later."

"Bye Son love you."

"Love you too Mom."

Mike reached the office. As he entered the building in the lobby he saw Catherine sitting with a guy smiling and laughing sipping her coffee. She was dressed in a red bodycon dress. Her hairs were left open and she has worn a rose shade of lipstick. Damn, she looked gorgeous. Catherine noticed him and both exchanges smile. Meanwhile, the lift arrived and he went to the 8th floor.

He wore his id, swiped his card, and went near Alandra's cabin. He knocked on the door.

"Come in."

He entered. As soon she saw him she smiled and asked him to sit. He took the chair in front of her. She was wearing formal pants, a shirt, and a blazer and was going through some notes.

"So I guess you are still lost?" Alandra asked looking at her laptop screen

"Yeah," Mike replied nervously

"Well, your department is across the passage on another side. You need to go and meet David. He is a senior IT consultant. I have mailed you and him the requirements. Basically, our site contents are outdated so you will need to upload the new videos. You can take them from Shirin. Shirin is the media head co-ordinator who keeps data of all interviews and events. Upload the video and then below the video I need to see the view count. I can see the likes, dislikes, and comments.. and yes I need you to hide the dislike." Alandra instructed him all the tasks in a single breath

"Ok for that I will need the codebase for the app. So how do you guys store it? On a private cloud or something?" Mike asked a bit confused

Alandra glared at him.

"Do I look like an Einstein to you? Just go to the IT department and talk to David and collect your laptop. Let me know once you have done the changes. These changes need to be done by End of the day today." Alandra said in a serious tone

"End of the day? But I need to check and study the code." Mike replied a bit annoyed

"We have an event coming up next month. We have to start promotions so I can give you time till tomorrow morning. No later than that."

"Oh ok."

He moved from her cabin and came across the passage to a small room. There was a board on it which say IT Helpdesk.

"What the hell I am a developer. Not helpdesk" He thought. He entered the room

Mike saw a healthy guy with chubby cheeks dressed in causal tees and loose jeans with his headphones on and was working on his laptop. He had placed a packet of potato chips and coffee placed in front of him on the desk.

"Hey buddy" Mike greeted him

David put his headphone down and looked at him.

"So you are the new guy?... I hope you have good coding knowledge." David asked giving him the benefit of the doubt looks.

" I am an IT engineer. You are offending me." Mike replied greeting his teeth.

"Well this place is full of dumbass and I wouldn't be surprised if they hired another dumb man. I think you know what I am talking about. " David replied casually

"I think I know. I asked Alandra about the codebase and she glared at me like I am asking if aliens exist " Mike replied with a smile.

"Haha. So now you know about the kind of stupid creatures are residing in this office."

David stood up and then went to the drawer on another corner and took out a laptop bag. He handed over the bag to Mike and said

"Here take your laptop. I have configured it and currently setup the default password. I have synced the data with the virtual private cloud. Just configure your outlook and then let's get started."

Mike thanked him.

After half an hour of configuration, Mike opened the code base and went through the existing code. He opened the visual studio code and started debugging the code. After 2 hours of brainstorming, he made the changes to the code.

"Hey, David. What's is the test site URL? I need to do system testing."

"Where do you think you are Mike? This is a media company. Everything goes live on a real site. There is no System Testing or User acceptance testing." David said in a humorous tone.

"Oh. And what if the code deployment fails?"

"Then Alandra will kill you." David laughed.

"Relax. Let me have a look." David said facing Mike's laptop

He had a look at his code and after an hour he made some minor changes.

"Perfect it's ready now. Let's deploy it on the site and then we can take a break till it gets finished."

David took the code and entered it for the deployment job.

He is really good at his work. I have a good colleague who can help me. Mike thought and felt happy.

David then checked.

"Great the build and deployment are done. Let's go for a smoking break." David said.

"Aren't we going to mail Alandra?"

"Trust me. You do not want to sit here uploading 100s of videos now. So let's chill for a while and then we will mail her."

"Ok" Mike replied
