29 Forgive Me Father For I Have Sinned

Their son wasn't even cold in his grave and the family was already looking to rush a wedding. The cause became clear when she flipped over to Bai Ye Qing's page.

He'd bought an expensive car recently. One that cost 4 million dollars. It was a month old and the source of the money was unknown. His financial transactions showed that it was one-way, often at bars, clubs, and restaurants. There were possible signs of gambling.

And he was playing with a lot of women. Two names popped up with prominence.

The first was Jia Ai. The girl was twenty-three and a nurse at a local hospital. They had met a year ago and met very often. While the other girls had days of the week allotted to them, Jia Ai came and went as she pleased. She was a girl of humble origin but lived a pretty luxurious life under the watch of Bai Ye Qing. Her picture brought on a wave of nausea. A very familiar face. She even remembered how this woman's naked body looked. The memories were hazy, but they were still embedded in her mind.

The second person was the most frightening one of all... Mo Yize.

Who was Mo Yize? The youngest daughter of the influential Mo family. Mo Qinchen's baby sister. Yun Qian Meng's only friend from her university days. Though their friendship didn't last past that, Yun Qian Meng was flabbergasted that Yize would choose to associate with such a useless man. The frequency of their meetings showed that she was exclusively seeing him.

It was odd for her to do so, in the first place. But exclusive? Yun Qian Meng couldn't imagine.

Frustrated beyond belief, she left the office without another word and found herself at the cafe she frequented. Her phone was pressed to her ear as she spoke to Li Jun in a hushed voice.

"Are you sure about the information? Did you look up the call records and movements of Jiang Xin?" she asked, feeling sour.

"I am working on it. I need some permits and persuasion to get the whole list, so it will take me a couple more days. Just hang on and don't burn bridges," Li Jun pleaded.

"I burned all my bridges long ago. I won't do anything rash, don't worry." She huffed and hung up the phone. "And what do you think you are doing?" she asked, watching Mo Qingchen casually sip from his cup. His hand was extended towards her, the perspiration on the side showing that it was her drink.

"I didn't order," she told him. She was about to bypass him when he blocked her way.

"I've already bought your fancy drink. Have some decency and take it," he huffed. He pushed the cup towards her, leaving her with no option but to take it. Yun Qian Meng took the cup off him and strolled to her usual spot. She sat down and took a cursory sip from the cup when she saw him sit down beside her from the corner of her eye.

"What is this supposed to mean?" Yun Qian Meng groaned.

"I'm sitting. What does it look like?" He slid down the seat a fraction to get comfortable.

"Do you ever ask for permission?"

"You would think that some gratitude was necessary after I bought you that expensive customized drink," Mo Qingchen snorted. He nodded towards the drink sitting in front of her. "An act of kindness should be followed by a thank you."

The last thing she wanted to do was thank him, so she picked up her cup hoping that he had gotten the order wrong. That way, she could pick at his faults.

Of course, it was not wrong.

"Thank you," she retorted blandly, taking another sip of her drink. "How did you know I hadn't finished mine?"

"I saw you duck out of the line to answer the phone. And you didn't bring your wallet."

Indeed, she had not. But she had a tab here. "I'll pay you back," she grumbled. She started to rise. She could enjoy her drink in the comfort of her office.

Before she could get up, his hands shot out and placed themself on her arm, the heat of his touch burning through the silk and extending through the rest of her body.

"I guess dressing like a nun is good for your image." His hand lingered on the fabric of her shirt and he rubbed the smooth material between his fingers. She did dress conservatively at the office, barely showing any skin, leaving everything to the imagination. "Wouldn't want those middle-aged men lusting after your body."

She slumped back into the chair, his words flowing over her, making her immobile. "First, you've never seen my body to comment on it. Second, you would know all about middle-aged men lusting... you've joined their team." She turned to glare at him.

She pretended not to hear her. She watched as his hand slowly moved down her arm, caressing and scorching until he reached the cufflink and expertly flicked it open. His finger slid under the fabric at her wrist, slowly moving the material up to expose her skin.

As quickly as he had touched her skin, he started to fold the sleeve up. His hands were deft and Yun Qian Meng had to say that the folds didn't look too bad. "This right here does so much better. You'd have everyone eating out of the palm of your hands."

"Coming from someone who exclusively wears grey t-shirts to office, I'll have to pass on your judgment on my clothes."

The crowd around them disappeared, lost in a blur of muffled conversations and shadows that passed by without their notice. Tunnel vision was a cruel thing.

"Moreover, I am not someone you can talk about so easily." She rose up from her seat, finally snapping out of it. "A nun, you say?" she smirked. At full height, he had to look up at her. He waited steadily for her last blow.

The arm he had so tantalizingly touched darted forward and grabbed his t-shirt. She twisted it in her fist and pulled him forward. Leaning her face in as close as possible, their lips inches apart, she muttered her final words with a smirk.

"Forgive me father for I have sinned."
