Adam reached across and took Alexander’s hand with one hand and poured the wine with the other. His hand lingered long after the bottle had been replaced on the table.

“A handsome man like you wouldn’t get much fun in a place like this.”

Alexander shook his head. “You’ve got that right. Although, your great-uncle…” He stopped himself. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t talk.”

Adam laughed. “It’s okay. We all knew he was ‘that way inclined’ as my mother puts it. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

Alexander’s eyes were riveted to Adam’s.

“There most certainly isn’t,” Alexander replied.

Adam stood up. “Come with me,” he said. “Bring your wine.”

Alexander followed Adam from the kitchen to the main bedroom, where everything was still the way he imagined Lester had left it.

Adam kicked off his shoes, removed his socks and lay down on the bed.

“Are you just going to stand there?” he asked.
