“Will it work for other things? Bigger things?” he asked.

Christian nodded. “Of course it will. All it takes is practise. And discipline. If you want something badly enough, you’ll get it. I think everyone knows that.”

They laughed again.

“Want to come in for another swim?” asked Christian.

“I’ll race you,” said Alexander, and both men ran splashing into the water.

The very next night, after he’d finished work, had some dinner and showered, Alexander was back at Christian’s. Still on a high from the success of the previous evening, Alexander wanted to go further, to push himself. He wanted to see if he could create more than a single beautiful butterfly. Christian had said anything was possible, that he had a gift.

“Make yourself as comfortable as possible,” said Christian, who had twisted his legs into the Lotus position.

Alexander lay down on the beach blanket.

“You’re not going to fall asleep are you?” asked Christian.

“Don’t know.”
