Contract

As a kid I used to dream about graduating college and getting a job at my favorite clothes company but I never though that this dream would come true. Years later here I am heading to my dream job at XOX.

XOX is a really famous clothes company that has been number 1 for almost 30 years now. It used to be run by Paulina Forrest but she retired after running it for almost 30 years and gave the company to her oldest son, Adam. Not a lot of positive news about her son Adam. The news reports say that he is a playboy and also that he isn't the right fit for the famous company. Many are judging and watching from a close eye to see if he will step up or continue with his ways. Even after hearing what my new boss is like, I should never judge a person based on what other people say. Who knows he might be the opposite of what the tabloids say.

I still can't believe that I got a job at XOX, it feels like a dream. I was so exited that I wasn't able to go to sleep. I stayed up all night and drank coffee this morning so that I wouldn't fall asleep when working. Wouldn't want to make the wrong first impression. First impressions are everything and I need to make a great first impression to my new boss. I got up early to take the bus and walked for 30 minutes. I didn't have time to drink but I would just drink it later. Even though I got up early and everything I was still about to be late. I started dashing towards the building like there was no tomorrow and to make things worse the elevator was packed and I needed to go to the fifth floor. I had to take the stairs because I couldn't stand there waiting for the next elevator to come when I was already late. I entered the office and to my surprise it was empty. Did I get the time wrong? I'm pretty sure the email said to get to work by 9:00. Maybe everyone else is also late. I went to take a seat and wait for the rest of my co-workers. As I sat down, I heard chatter from the hallways, employees started coming in and were shocked to see me. I got up from the chair I was sitting in and said hello. They didn't say a word to me and looked at me with concerning faces.

After standing just like that for a few minutes, a co-worker came up to m and whispered, "we just came from a meeting and the boss is right behind us. He wasn't really happy with the new girl being late. So be prepared." What she had said made me anxious. I didn't want to be late. Will he kick me out for being late on my first day? I hope not. Right as the employee had said that, he walked in. When he saw my face he didn't look happy. He started walking towards me. This made me feel nervous. I have never felt this nervous before. He walked up to me and stared at me for a while. I thought he as gonna say something but he just walked into his office. I thought I was off the hook, this made me feel at ease.

My new co-worker showed me to the desk I was assigned to. I sat down and the phone rang. I was so excited, my first call yayy. I picked up the phone and said "This is Bella from XOX, how can I help you?" "Come to my office NOW." I was taken back, I turned my head towards the office and saw Adam holding the phone and pointing to me to come. I got up for my seat and walked slowly to his office. I opened the door and he said "Close it and take a seat." I closed the door and sat down. He said with a calm voice "Get your thing off the desk and leave." I asked him what he meant. He said "You are dismissed. Now please get your things and leave my company." I asked him why. He said " He needed reliable people and being late on the first day does not prove me to be reliable and he has no time for that ." I told him that I didn't want to be late and that the bus was delayed because of an accident on the road and that made me late. I promised him that I wouldn't be late anymore and that i am a very reliable person. He decided to give me another chance but if I were to be late ever again he would fire me without hearing anything about it. As punishment for being late today, he gave me more work than anybody else in the office and most of them required me to go up and down the building to the copy room. I will do anything to keep my job here at XOX, this workload is nothing. Bring it on.

And now my new life was starting. Off to a rocky start but that can always change. Let the journey begin.
