2 The Contract

Since the day of his summoning, Simon became one of the students in the magic academy despite his age. He has no choice but to comply with the professor's requests or he will face eviction. He could not freeload like he usually does but is grateful that his life finally turned into something better. To live in a different world is not that bad especially if its people does not wish you harm or dead. He was a good student in the academy but not as good enough to exceed those who excel in their arts. Simon was just not able to find his despite of the teachings of the professor.

One day Simon took a stroll outside the Magic Academy. He walks near to a river where they say was enchanted. Since everything in this world is born out of magic it would rather be typical to believe that almost everything they say is real. As he approached the river bank a voice suddenly calls his attention.

"Simon..."

"Yes?" Simon replied and looks around. The people around him looked at him oddly with his reaction and replies to something that he only hears. They think that he must be crazy or something.

"Simon..."

"WHAT!?" He shouted irritated to the voice calling him.

"There is something I wish to talk about..."

All of a sudden his surroundings turned black and a mysterious figure appeared in front of him.

"Your summoning to this world was not of any accident but of my willing. There are many things you should know before you advance into your next choice of actions..." The lady in white said.

"Lady in white, this scene? Pretty cliche ma'am! At least we could be a little bit original here!" Simon replied to her.

All of a sudden the surroundings turned pink and changed when Simon begins to open his mouth. A scene from his memory suddenly shows up in front of him. The day before he was taken and shot in the sewer from his loan shark.

"Your life in your world is supposedly over but I have something for you. I was thinking of giving you a way to redeem your former life and a choice for you. What I have here is a contract. I will give you a time to think. Several days from now you are going to leave the academy to seek yourself." The lady said to him.

Simon protested instead and shouted, "BOOOOOO!!! Very cliche indeed!"

The lady does not look very pleased with his reaction and lifts her finger. Simon feels the pain in his abdomen and blood stained his clothes.

"If you have only words to mock on me then I wish you should consider your tongue!" She said in a displeased tone.

"Urggh.... sorry, sorry! I do not know I have 1 ups left. I will comply, I will, just make this pain go away!"

"Very well..." The Lady replied and continued.

"Five hundred days from now you are going to train hard and become a hero. You will face a lot of adversaries, monsters, demons and even heroes who have dedicated their lives in one thing, fighting. I wish that you of all the people know of your purpose. There is a greater unbalance in the land of dawn that is disrupting the very fabric of its existence. Others like you have been summoned by erring beings like myself who wish to take matters in their own hands."

Before the lady could finish Simon interrupted and spoke, "Okay, okay... my brain could not process all what you have said. At least tell me of what you want? I am to become a hero correct? I have no choice but to follow so I will do so. However what of this contract you are saying and what are my choices?"

The lady answered in reply, "Your choice, become a hero of light or dark or however you see yourself fit. You are going to choose your specialty. Powers and abilities you wish to master."

"All of these are my decisions?" Simon asked.

"Yes young man." The lady replied with a smile.

"What shall I do?" Simon asked in reply.
