Chapter 25 — Embassy Attack

In the Mildror Kingdom, a tall and menacing embassy of the Third Reich stood in the middle of the capital city. It occupied a large plot of land and was built more like a small fortress. It consisted of a strongly defended concrete embassy standing in the middle, and it was surrounded by dozens of metres of flat and minefield-covered land that would act as a killing zone for any attackers. Dozens of machine guns poked out of gaps in the concrete fortress. A secure bunker was built under the embassy as well, with enough food, water, and ammunition to live in it safely for months.

Such an extravagant use of land was unheard of in the centre of the capital, where the prices were measured by the square inch. Countless nobles and wealthy merchants had tried to get a plot of land in the most influential district, but the Mildror Kingdom had just donated it to the Third Reich as a show of friendship.

The embassy would be where the government could communicate with the Third Reich, but they had obviously gone overboard with their defences. It was more like a war fortress than an embassy! Despite this, the government was deterred by their country's strength and profitable trade products, so it didn't comment. However, this was about to change.

Today, Ichino Mochuzuki was hiding in a building near the embassy with his harem and a group of powerful adventurers and soldiers from his alliance. A small Mildror army was also ready nearby to attack. After escaping the Clyven Kingdom, he had somehow used his charm to convince multiple Kingdoms to unite against the Third Reich. If Konrad was there to witness it, he would have commented that the Kingdoms had been affected by the "Protagonist's Halo", otherwise they would never have agreed to this suicidal act.

But now, Ichino was in wait, ready to ambush the embassy. There were 20 cannons in the house, ready to blast a hole into the fortress. Ichino had chosen to attack with a small, elite force because he knew that numbers no longer mattered in front of modern firearms. Once they obtained the weapons of the embassy, they could copy them and fight back against the Third Reich! In the fortress, embassy guards on shift were chatting with each other to pass the time, unbeknownst to the incoming danger.

[I really hope we can finish off the Elsass Empire, but the country doesn't show any signs of mobilizing]

[Maybe this is just a deception, and we are going to surprise attack!]

[Well, I hope so… it's sure good to be here. We get so much free time and the slave market's pretty good]

[Oh, they have some real fine goods there!]

[Yeah, I actually bought some more demi-human slaves the other day after my previous ones broke. Apparently, the girls are the last survivors of their tribe. The merchant was trying to sell them at an extremely high price, but I just pulled out my Third Reich soldier identification, and he got so scared! Haha!]

[Not even the strongest Empires want to provoke the Third Reich, let alone this backwards Kingdom!]

Meanwhile, the attacking force had finished their preparation. The powerful warriors tensed their legs, ready to launch into action. The strength of the gun was its range, so if they could get close enough, they would win. Ichigo took the lead and burst out of the house and used all his strength to slash his sword downwards. A blast of air cut through the minefield, gouging a trench and clearing a safe path.

[Charge!]

The attackers jumped after him and quickly closed the distance. The guards hurriedly reacted and triggered the alarm. Soldiers in elevated machine nests opened fire and the rest started making their way over to the side being attacked. The group was quickly under a tight web of firepower.

Ichigo started shedding tears as he saw his fellow brothers fall around him, but he didn't hesitate to keep charging. He had left his harem in the house; he was not willing to risk their lives. The powerful warriors couldn't dodge a bullet, but they could rapidly move, making it hard to hit them.

A powerful adventurer who had known Ichigo since the start was running in zigzags to dodge the bullets. His sense of danger which he had trained over his decades of putting his life on the line hunting monsters allowed him to predict the trajectory of the bullets. However, he was so focused that he forgot about the threat of landmines. Too late, he looked down and realised he had stepped on one. The explosion removed his foot and he fell over onto the ground. Unable to move, dozens of bullets ripped through his body as he died in a pool of his own blood.

With a roar, the 20 cannons lying in wait opened fire at the same section of the wall. The reinforced concrete cracked and dented, but it held strong. At this moment, the attackers had made it all the way up to the wall. Using their strongest attacks, the wall was finally breached, exposing the fragile soldiers inside.

[How dare you attack the sovereign land of the Third Reich! Do you dare to declare war?]

The soldiers turned their assault rifles to the attackers, but the superhuman warriors proved their superiority in close-quarters combat. A soldier continuously fired at an adventurer while behind sandbags, but the adventurer kept dodging the trajectory of the bullets. A wind blade tore through the sandbags and sliced the soldier into two. Assassins zoomed around the enclosed space of the embassy, accurately slicing the vital arteries of soldiers with their daggers.

An assassin saw a soldier enter and point a gun at him. He predicted the trajectory of the gun and dodged to the side. However, the gun wasn't any ordinary gun, it was a shotgun. Shotguns were the perfect counter to warriors with high mobility. No matter where the warrior dodged, they would still get hit by the spray of metal bullets! Despite dodging the trajectory, the metal balls still shredded through the assassin's thin armour. Before he had time to feel happy about his kill, a transparent arrow sped over and easily pierced his metal helmet, sending his brain matter splattering against the walls.

Even with hot weapons, the unprepared defenders were unable to defeat the force consisting of the alliance's strongest adventurers and soldiers. As the regular Mildror army entered the battle, their ending was set.

In the bunker of the embassy, the ambassador was desperately sending signals to High Command.

[We are being attacked! Multiple powerful warriors and cannons have breached the embassy! I'm in the bunker right now with 20 embassy guards and have sealed the blast door, but I don't expect the soldiers outside to survive for much longer! The Mildror Kingdom has declared war!]
