2 Imprisoned

It was now Shade's turn to introduce himself. When he thought of his power, he could feel that his attribute was the dark attribute. But that doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing Shade thought. Even though his attribute wasn't exactly one that belonged to a righteousness faction, that doesn't mean he is bad as well.

"Hi, I'm Shade, 16 years old, my power is that of the darkness attribute."

Shade expected that the surrounding soldiers would be astonished as they had been the previous nine times, but that wasn't what happened at all.

Many soldiers took a step back and in their eyes appeared not admiration, but hate. Like he was the guy that had been invading their country.

Naturally, none of the ten including Shade knew what was going on, but it didn't look pleasant. Then the king spoke up.

"You're sure it is the darkness attribute that you can wield?"

"Yes, I'm sure why is something wrong?"

The king sight and then said to his guards. "Arrest him and put him in a jail cell."

When I heard that I thought he was making a joke, but seeing the guards walking towards me with very serious faces, I knew it wasn't.

But then Bob stood in front of me as if he wanted to protect me. "What is this about?"

"Please move aside."

"Not until you tell me what's going on."

Shade was relieved hearing seeing someone stand up for him, as this hadn't happened a lot in his life.

"Alright, I'll explain," the king said, "the only people who have the ability to wield the darkness attribute are demons. No human can do this, only demons can. So even though I know this guy here isn't a demon, he may very well turn into one. I just can't risk it."

"He is just a kid, can't you go easy on him?"

"Haha, you know nothing of the demons. They kill, they plunder, they rape. Yes, he is a kid now, but that doesn't matter at all. Once he gains power and becomes a true demon what then?"

Hearing this all the summoned people unconsciously took a step back, away from Shade.

"What have I done to get this. You people are the ones that summoned me, and now you want to imprison me?"

"Yes that's true." The king said very direct, not caring about it at all.

"But I'm not even like those demons you described."

"Enough, you may not be it now, but you will become it."

The guards moved in and to my surprise, the man who had been speaking up for me just moved aside.

"Please help me, I didn't do anything."

"I'm sorry kid, but if you truly become what the kings says, it's best for everyone if you comply with the guards."

Shade was truly dumbfounded now. He looked around and saw the gazes of the other nine people. They weren't filled with pity or a desire to help. No, it seemed like all of them accepted that he truly was a demon.

Shade's mood sank, knowing no-one here would lift a finger to help him, even though he did nothing wrong. His eyes lost the life in it and his body became weak.

The guards moved in and took him away from the throne-room. They moved Shade to an underground cell. Not a nice comfortable one. No, the exact opposite. They put him in a dark, smelly filled with all sorts of filth.

Shade didn't do anything to resist, knowing it wouldn't help at all. No-one trusted him or would try and help him. At first, he thought he could make friends in this new world and even have a relationship with a beautiful girl, but all of that soon went away. And in its place, he became a prisoner, most likely to be executed just because he had awakened the wrong attribute.

So Shade didn't bother anymore, why would he? He would just live out his days in this dark prison cell. And after he would die, in the prison cell or on the execution stand. But one thing was sure, no-one would try to help him escape or even survive.

It's been a few days since then. Shade had been living in the prison cell these past few days. He did nothing, but lie down on the bed made of stone. Sometimes he got some food from a guard, but usually, it was just some gross stuff.

Every guard that he saw was filled with disgust when looking at Shade. Everyone knew what demons did. And now everyone thought he was one. Shade didn't even bother trying out his newfound magic powers. Why would he? He was waiting to die anyway.

His life was truly getting sucked out of his body, as he was in the prison cell. Then suddenly while he was sleeping he could hear someone whispering.

"Shade, Shade wake up."

Shade woke up easily as sleeping deep on this kind of bed was impossible. When he opened his eyes he couldn't believe what he saw. On the other side of the bars was the princess. She truly was beautiful, even in this kind of dark setting she looked amazing.

"P- princess, what are you doing here?"

"I just couldn't stand how they treated you, so I brought you some better food than that trash you're getting now. And please call me Evelyn."

"You don't care about the fact they think I'm a demon."

"No, just because you use the dark attribute doesn't make you a bad man."

Hearing this made Shade happy. There still was someone that cared about him and it was someone this beautiful as well. This made his life-force which was slowly sapping away from his body, liven up again.

He walked towards her, ready to accept the food she brought with him. While he was almost at the bars the princess's smile changed into something else. Shade was at the bars and instead of receiving some food, all he got was something smashed in his face, after which he heard the princess talking again, only now in a despising tone, not the friendly one from before.

"HAHAHA, you truly think I care about a demon?"

As Shade heard this he could feel his nostrils burning. The thing smashed on his face wasn't something normal. She had thrown horse dung at his face.

"Haha, that's how you demons should get treated. With shit thrown in your face."

"Why, why are you doing this?" I asked with a pleading tone.

"What wasn't my father and I clear? We hate demons, we despise them. So why shouldn't I do this?"

The joy he was feeling from someone caring about him, disappeared immediately. She wasn't the nice girl caring about him. She was the opposite, the one who stepped on him to make him go down even further.

Evelyn soon left leaving Shade with the shit still on his face. Instead of feeling better from someone caring about him, he was left like this. He truly lost every single good thought he had. He thought to himself, when I get free I'll truly show them what a demon is like.

"All those people that despised me while I did nothing, I'll make sure that they pay. If they think I'm a demon, then why shouldn't I become one. I'll make every single one of them pay." Shade thought to himself.

Shade was now truly changing from the quiet guy, who wouldn't hurt anyone to someone who would get his sweet revenge. He wouldn't be a nice guy anymore. From now on he would become a demon.

And then suddenly something happened. Shade heard a voice speaking, but nobody was in the vicinity. He didn't hear anyone speaking. He heard it directly in his mind.

"Oh, you truly wish to have revenge on the humans? If you really do I can help you, all you have to do is ask."
