Chapter 58 - Elemental Elk Queen

'The Elven Siblings.' the adult elk said, however aside from the young elk the sibling was only able to roughly understand what the adult elk said.

After all, with its condition using mana to communicate its intention was impossible.

Seeing that they were spotted the siblings decided to approach the two elks after seeing no signs of distrust thrown at them.

The two concluded that the young elk must have conveyed what it experienced.

The young elk then moved in their direction weakly nudged Avery's hands with its head.

It let out a pitiful sound as it pointed towards the adult elk with its head.

'Please… help mother'

This time Avery understood the young elk clearer as it used mana to convey its intention.

"It wants to save its mother…" Yue said as she also was able to interpret what the young elk was trying to say.

"I'll try…" Avery said to the young elk.

The mother of the elk simply shook its head in an attempt to dissuade them.

However, Avery still stepped closer and inspected the condition of the gravely injured elk.

A frown slowly formed on Avery's face as he continued checking the condition of the elk.

"..." Yue and the young elk worriedly looked at what was happening.

After a while, Avery retrieved his hand and saddeningly looked back at Yue and the Elk.

"What's wrong big brother? Can we still save her?" Yue inquired as the young elk released magic asking the same question.

"I am sorry… but it's too late to save it, its mana core is way too damaged,"

Avery knew that the elk only had a few moments before it completely passed away.

He can't save it right now.

He currently lacks the means to do so.

Even if he has the method to heal the elk, he still won't be able to apply it as he lacked the necessary tools and herbs.

"I see…" Yue sadly said as she knew that her big brother would have already helped if he had the means to do so. Thus she did not doubt a single word from him.

'Mother…' The elk sadly let out a sound as it nudged its head towards its mother.

'It's alright, I knew it was coming…' The mother nudged back as it tried to comfort its offspring.

The two communicated with one another as the siblings simply looked trying to understand their conversation.

However, it was fruitless as it was more difficult if the elk did not use that spell of theirs to communicate their intentions.

After a while, the adult elk looked at the two siblings with its eyes glowing as if trying to inspect them, after a while the glow in the eyes of the adult elk disappeared.

A resolution was now portrayed on her face that even Avery and Yue understood that it had decided on something very important.

Knowing that its time was running out, the injured elk gathered all of its remaining magic to form a green crystal in the air.

The crystal slowly hovered in the air before floating on top of Avery's hand.

A system prompt appeared in front of both his and his sister's interface.

[The Queen of Elemental Elks has entrusted you the future of its race. Their fate now lies in your hands…]

[Ding. Den Key (Elemental Elk) Acquired]

After the Den Key was handed, the body of the elk started dissolving into green motes of light.

'I give you my trust…. for my daughter' it looked at the siblings as it slowly turned into motes of light.

Just before the Queen disappeared, it shifted its gaze to her daughter. 'Mother will always love you…. my princess….'

It appears that the elk used not only its mana but its life force to form the said key.

It was understandable as the elk would not have been able to accomplish such a feat with its broken mana core.

Its only alternative was to use its own life force.

The siblings did not say a word as they gazed at the elk princess who was sadly looking at the motes of light that were quietly dispersing.

After a couple of minutes, she turned her head towards the siblings and approached them.

Yue simply caressed its head in comfort.

"Sorry…" Yue said guiltily thinking that maybe it was their fault.

The elk princess simply shook its head, 'No, it's not your fault mother was going to disappear whether she gave you the key or not'

"She is right, Little Yue. If there is to blame then it should be the perpetrator behind this attack." Avery patted his sister's back to comfort her.

The elk princess nodded in agreement.

"Thanks.." Yue nodded before smiling.

The elk princess then looked at them before pointing its head in a particular direction.

"Hmm… is there something wrong?" Yue wondered.

"It may be the survivors, the spell a while ago detected multiple life signatures."

The elk princess nodded in agreement. 'Freinds… Families.'

"Alright! Let's go then!" Yue said with enthusiasm to get rid of the sad atmosphere a while ago.

"Sure." Avery smiled before nodding towards the young elk.

Understanding him the elk princess moved deeper into the dimension.

After walking for a while, the siblings and the elk arrived in a clearing.

The elk princess moved into the center of the clearing before releasing a pulse from its body.

After that, elks both young and adult started appearing behind the thick trunks of the trees.

From the looks of it, there appears to be an estimated amount of 120 elemental elks.

"Wow! There are so many of them big brother!"

"You are right, for a place that was invaded by the Nightmare Wolves. The Queen must have used all her strength to fight them."

"Right, the battlefield back there looked pretty intense," Yue recalled the scene from before.

"You're… right, from the mana I sensed from her, I can say that she was very powerful…. way too powerful perhaps. It would have taken hundreds of Nightmare Wolves to defeat it."

"It's weird that she was defeated… she must have prioritized the safety of her race at her expense" Yue said recalling the injury from most of the dead Nightmare Wolves.

"Right…" Avery's voice trailed off as he saw the scene in front of him.

The elemental elks both young and old were kneeling towards the elk princess that they accompanied.

Yue simply smiled seeing the scene in front of her.

This scene just proved that the elk that they had saved was actually the next ruler of these elemental elks.

Then one of the adult elks saw the siblings a few meters behind the elk princess, it raised its mana in preparation to attack.

The others looked at the adult elk, before looking where it was looking and saw both Avery and Yue.

Just like any elemental elk they had met so far, the rest also raised their mana in preparation to eliminate the two.

Seeing how 120 elemental elk were preparing to attack the two, Avery and Yue quickly raised their guard and went into a stance.
