Today is exactly a year since I graduated from Godolkin University.
When I graduated, I got a call from Vought Tower about a contract. They wanted me to join a new superhero team they've created called 'The Seven' with me being the second member.
I still remember how excited I was that day. I mean it wasn't even a month since I graduated but I was being drafted in a new team that had Homelander at its leader.
The only path that was available for me at that was to become a C-rank supe and slowly work my way through the rankings till I reached A-rank but because of my record or luck, I was chosen for the team.
Because I was the second member, I had the opportunity to become friends with both Homelander and Deva.
It was after I joined that I found out that Deva was technically part of the team but as support. He was the team's Tech Advisor and Vice leader.
I was pretty excited as everyone admires both of them but I was personally a huge fan of Deva.
I mean c'mon, he was handsome, rich, strong and the smartest man in the world currently.
Surprisingly , he was a pretty chill and nice guy. We instantly hit it off since according to him, he liked my personality and character.
He was also pretty nice to talk to since we could talk about basically anything without the conversation becoming stale.
All in all, we are currently good friends. And no I'm not in love with him or anything.
That's mainly because he hasn't showed any interest in me and also because I want to focus on my career first before thinking of anything like that and I'm also sure he has a girlfriend.
I'm also good friends with Homelander. He is a good guy and an extremely charismatic person making him the prime candidate for leadership.
He has been good to me, from helping me when I face troubles during crime fighting or always smiling at me even if I commit a mistake and this has brought as a lot closer.
Because of this, I'm feeling something else apart from friendship for him but it isn't strong enough for me to date him or something.
During this past year, the other five members have been chosen.
I've met some of them like my childhood hero Black Noir, the world's fastest man Mister Marathon and The Star of the Sea 'The Deep'.
Today is the day we are having our first team meeting. Currently, I'm in an elevator heading towards the ninety-nineth floor in my superhero costume.
<Ding!>
Th elevator arrived on the floor and opened.
I left the elevator and found myself inside 'The Seven' meeting room.
The Seven meeting room consists of an open circular space containing a large table in the shape of the Vought Seven logo.
On the interior walls are computer screens to monitor things of note to the Seven, across from a wall of floor to ceiling windows on the opposing sides.
It seems some of them have already arrived. I could see Homelander sitting on the leader's seat with Black Noir on his right side and The Deep on his left, with all of them in their respective costumes.
Upon seeing me, Homelander and The Deep smiled and Black Noir nodded.
I greeted and sat next to Noir who was seated quietly with his hands crossed.
I wanted to make idle conversation with him but I remembered he was mute so I shut up and waited for the rest to arrive.
Ten minutes later, the rest arrived and sat at their respective seats.
Those who just came in were Lamplighter, Mister Marathon and the pervert Translucent.
I frowned when I saw him but I quickly erased it from my face the next moment.
The meeting still didn't start as there was an empty seat at the end of the table directly facing Homelander.
"When will the meeting start?"
Unable to bear the silence in the room, Lamplighter asked Homelander.
"We are waiting for someone."
Homelander responded with a smile.
"Who is t----"
"I'm sorry for the delay guys, I got caught up with something really important."
Lamplighter was about to ask again when Deva entered the room in his superhero costume and apologized.
He is finally here, I was getting tired of waiting.
Everyone except Homelander, Noir and I were shocked at his arrival.
They didn't expect the CEO of 'V industries' to be a member of their team.
He sat down at his seat with a smile on his face as he glanced at everyone and nodded when he saw Homelander who also nodded back.
I've never really understood the dynamic between those two.
From what I've seen, they've known each other since they were children but they don't act as friends but as rivals.... at least that's how Homelander sees him.
Their relationship is based on mutual respect from what I've observed so far.
"Now that everyone is here, let's begin the meeting."
Homelander said in a deep voice that brought everyone's attention to him.
"As you guys already know, this team was created to represent Vought International and superheroes as a whole since this team comprises of the most powerful supes.
We are going to be the face of the company and superheroes in general so whatever actions we take can greatly affect this corporation.
As the leader of this team, it's my duty to safeguard my fellow colleagues and the company's interests so don't be reluctant to approach me.
After all, we are going to be a family, and as a family we need to know each other better so let's start with introductions.
I'll go first, My real name is John. I like baseball and everything American and I'm twenty-six years old."
He finished with a charismatic smile and gestured The Deep to say his own.
"Umm, my real name is Kevin. I like everything aquatic and I'm twenty-two, it's a pleasure to work with all of you."
The Deep said in his green suit and looked at Mister Marathon.
"I'm Mark and -----"
"I'm Steven a----"
"I'm Mike----"
"...."
"I'm Margaret. I just graduated from Goldokin and I aspire to become the greatest female hero the world has ever seen. I'm glad to work with you guys."
The introduction moved from Mister Marathon, Lamplighter, Translucent, Black Noir and finally reached my turn.
When they heard my introduction and my goals, they all nodded with encouragement with slight smiles on their faces with the exception of Noir who just nodded.
I half expected them to either laugh or show contempt but it seems everyone here respects each other even though we haven't know ourselves for long.
Finally, it was Deva's turn.
"My name is Virgil and I'm interested in anything science related.
I'm not technically part of this team but I'm your Tech Advisor and Part time Vice Leader.
I may not be around that much but I'm happy to have the opportunity to work with you all. Oh and I brought Gifts for everyone."
He said with a smile and the next second small cases with our superhero initials on them landed gently in front of us.
Excited, we all opened our boxes and saw a black futuristic rectangular phone with a seven logo on it's back.
"These are the personal phones I created for the team. It has a one terabyte memory space, a two hundred megapixel camera, unlimited data connection and a biometric scanner that will make the phone exclusively yours. There are a lot of features but you will discover them as you use the phone."
By the time Virgil was done explaining, everyone was shocked with their eyes wide open since based on the short summary of the phones specs, it was ahead of the world by ten years and we are the only ones privileged to use it.
"Thank God I'm on this team."
Mister Marathon muttered and we couldn't agree more.
It seems joining this team was much more than I expected.
"Since the introductions are over, I can successfully end this meeting. We will meet next week at the same time, thank you all for coming."
Homelander said with a small smile on his face as he stood up and ended the meeting.
With that the meeting ended with the guys exchanging contacts with Deva.
Shaking my head lightly, I headed towards the elevator and entered leaving the meeting room and going towards my apartment's floor.
Joining this team might be the best thing that ever happened to me and I can't wait to use this opportunity to become the greatest female superhero of all time.
