7 Raiding A Gate

It was not easy to become an A-Rank adventurer.

If Aegis saw this, she'd flip over; it took her five years to become an A-Rank adventurer, and another two to three years to become an S-Rank adventurer.

You must clear a significant number of gates as well as many other merits such as assisting with gate breakouts, subjugation of criminals, or completion of any other missions in order to gain enough fame to become an A-RANK adventure.

I have access to all gates below S-Level, as well as numerous other benefits.

When I heard Mika's voice, I came back from my thoughts.

"Congratulations on becoming the youngest A-Rank adventurer, my disciple," she remarked, a broad grin on her face.

Seeing her grin, I understood what private conversation she had with the poor Guild master.

'I pity the Guild master, whose name I don't know...,' I thought to myself.

"It's all thanks to you, master," I said, naively smiling at her.

We soon left the adventurer guild and arrived at Mika's car, where she voiced her mind as we entered.

"I have some work to accomplish, therefore I'll be leaving the floating island tomorrow," she says.

I just glanced at her with wide eyes and remained silent.

I didn't show it on my face, but I was quite pleased; not because I disliked her company, but because I was intending on clearing gates to improve my skill proficiency, and if I got harmed even little in the process.

Then I doubt there will be an Adventurers Guild on a floating island tomorrow; Mika will use them as a scapegoat to express her rage.

I don't want to recreate the situation from the novel.

'Now that I think about it, what will happen to the person that would have been her disciple?

I think I will meet him at the academy, poor bastard....or lucky bastard?'

While I was pondering to myself, oblivious to my thoughts Mika spoke again.

"Don't worry, my disciple, I will finish my task as soon as possible and return to you; I know you will miss me and I will miss you as well, so don't be sad,"

"Your Master will bring you souvenirs."

I just replied with, "hm!" And nodded my head.

But in my mind, I was thinking about the soon-to-be or not disciple, if my guess is right she would have met 'that' guy during this trip of hers...,

But I don't know now if she will take him as her disciple or not.

"I will make it up to you by accompanying you to an A-Level gate," Mika said making a bitter smile...

I don't know why she was feeling guilty and making that kind of expression, but I accepted her proposal by nodding my head.

Seeing me agreeing with her she gave me a huge bright smile and drove to where the A-Level gate was located, where she was commissioned by the Adventurer Association.

Adventurer Association is quite different from Adventurer guild, we can find many branches of adventurer guild in every kingdom and the Guild masters of every branch are quite influential figures based on their power, money, and connections anyone can create their guild but they need the approval of Adventurer Association.

And, there is only one Adventurer Association that acts as the headquarters.

After traveling for about 20 minutes we soon arrived at the gate's location.

'This will be my first gate raid in this world, and I'm not sure if it's similar to the gates in my previous world,' I thought to myself.

***

I changed into the fighting outfit Mika had prepared for me.

It was comparable to an assassin's attire, and if I had worn a mask, I would have looked like an assassin as well.

Mika sometimes seems to be fulfilling her fetishes by making me wear whatever she wants to see me in.

"...."

"It's an outfit customized to not restrict any of your movements and it is also enhanced by high-level enhancement magic," Mika spoke in her defense after I gave her a suspicious look...

In addition, Mika had given me a black Katana with a scabbard that hung on the left side of my belt.

Mika was dressed in her regular kimono with the black-and-white combo that she was wearing when we first met, as well as two katanas hanging from her left waist.

As soon as we were outfitted, we went straight inside the gate; several other adventures were guarding it, but no one stopped us; of course, they knew who Mika Amami was.

The entire landscape and temperature changed as soon as we entered the gate.

Amid a snowfall, we can only see the forest and a huge old creepy-looking fortress covered in snow which was far away from us and we have to cross the forest to reach there...

The temperature didn't bother me much because of my enhanced outfit and of course, Mika wouldn't be affected by it.

We then decided to move forward inside the forest.

To clear a gate we have two choices, one is to destroy the source of the gate which is also known as the heart of the gate or our second choice is to kill every monster present in the gate.

The second option is not that practical because the monsters will respawn every next day, so you have to kill every monster before they re-spawn.

But Of course, it's possible if you are Mika Amami or someone as strong as her.

We soon reached the depths of the forest but had yet to encounter any monsters, which is not a good sign because it means that all of the monsters are gathered in one place and must be preparing for a breakout or planning on summoning a high-rank general-type monster.

This would be quite difficult for any normal A-Rank adventurers to deal with as general-type monsters are usually S-Rank, and also because of their numbers.

But it's a treat for strong adventurers like Mika because they can deal with all of them at once.

As we progressed, we came to the end of the forest and noticed a massive fortress covered in ice not far away. I believe all of the monsters were gathered there; the fortress could house up to a couple of thousand creatures.

The gate breakout occurs when the monster exceeds the number of monsters a Gate could hold.

If you left the gate uncleared for a long period as the population of monsters increases and reached the gate's source limit then the breakout occurs.

And I don't need to say what they are doing inside that fortress now to cause a breakout, they may be trying to summon a high-level monster..... or they may be increasing their population by breeding?

I shook my head to clear my mind and started planning how to attack the fortress...

I approached Mika and inquired about her thoughts.

"Master, how should we enter the fortress?" I said, my gaze fixed on the fortress not far away.

Mika simply tilted her head, as though question marks appeared over her head.

"What do you mean, my disciple, isn't the answer obvious?" she asked, her face contorted as if she'd heard something stupid.

I squinted my eyes at her as if asking for an explanation.

"All right, let me show you," Mika said, unsheathing both of her katanas and holding one in each hand.

She moved both of her katanas forward while keeping her arms straight, making a cross sign with both of her katanas and using her element of fire.

Both katana were now engulfed in flames, then she forced her strength out of her swords and blasted towards the fortress...

The fire overlapped with each other, forming a cross, and proceeded forward at a rapid pace, obliterating everything in its path until finally destroying the fortress.

Even after demolishing the fortress, the attack went forward until it reached the massive snow-covered peak far behind the fortress.

The attack completely demolished the mountain, leaving only flames all around and only debris and aftermath fire visible through the path of the attack.

Throughout this process, I only saw the fire that was scorching everything in its route, and I couldn't move my attention even for a split second since I didn't want to miss any scene or destruction created by the attack.

Soon after, the exit gate appeared behind us, marking the gate's clearance.

With my eyes still in a shocked state, I asked Mika in a dazed voice.

"What type of monsters do you think existed in this gate, Master?"

Mika, who was still marveling at the lovely image created by her attack, responded while staring at the scene...

"Who cares,"

After saying those words, she turned around and left the gate, signaling me to follow her.

I gazed back at her as she walked away, then switched my gaze to the fortress, where the fire was still swallowing everything.

I stood there alone for a few minutes, watching the spreading flames, before turning around and leaving the gate.

'I didn't even have the chance to fight even after arming myself with high-enhanced equipment, I was simply like a mannequin for Mika to admire,' I thought to myself as I exited the gate, slightly shaking my head.
