12 12 - Everybody Gets an Upgrade!
At their current realm, it didn't even take them an hour to reach their old campsite. For some reason, Fang Lin felt strangely attached to this place and always seemed to gravitate towards here. Xiao Bai who still couldn't fly yet, had to be carried by Fang Lin in her kitten form, but that's nothing new.
On the first day, they allowed Xiao Bai to fight every low level mobs they could find. This was to allow her to get used her form and new reach distance then slowly increased the Level of the magical beasts. They found out that Xiao Bai in human form did not lose any of her physical prowess she possessed in kitten form. Even better is she can partially transform her fingernails into terrifyingly sharp claws to use as weapon.
Seeing as Xiao Bai prefer to use brawling style of fighting mixed with her 'Lightning Manipulation' ability, Fang Lin wanted to improve that even further. With that in mind, he bought Xiao Bai the [B-rank: Lightning Dragon Slayer Lacrima - 150,000] to become a Lightning Dragon Slayer. The downside is the fact that she wouldn't have a dragon teacher to guide her and would have to figure things out by herself. While he was at it, he also bought a 'Spatial Ring' for her as well.
On the second day, what they tested was the limits of Fang Lin's 'immortality' and his regenerative capabilities. From being slashed, getting stabbed, or even being pulverised under the onslaught of Xiao Bai's fists. They avoided aiming for the head and heart though because they didn't want to risk Fang Lin actually dying for real. Get smashed, literally, by Xiao Bai, Fang Lin barely felt any pain thanks to his 'Pain Tolerance' trait however, the wounds inflicted by Ning Er are another stories.
Ning Er's sword strikes were as if they aimed directly at his soul. He had a feeling that he would definitely die for real were she to get a clean hit with her Zanpakuto so he had Ning Er switch to regular weapon during their spar. After sparring against both girls, he noticed that unlike Xiao Bai who had the highest physical ability, and Fang Lin now with his Phenex body, Ning Er's had neither strong defense nor regenerative ability. With that he bought her the [A-rank: Avalon - 350,000] with no hesitation.
Unlike Shirou from the 'Fate' series, this 'Avalon' was bought through the system so Ning Er truly and completely have full ownership. After 'Avalon' was conceptualized into her body, Ning Er could instantly feel something lodged into her heart, yet not truly there either. From that moment forth, unless one doesn't exceed the 'Mortal' Tier, there is no attack that can go through 'Avalon's' defense as long as Ning Er had enough energy to feed into it. Even if she does get injured, as long as she's not killed instantly, her wounds would definitely regenerate eventually.
Even if she had the highest physical level among them, that doesn't mean there aren't others surpassing Xiao Bai. With that in mind, Fang Lin bought her 2x [C-rank: Senzu Beans - 50,000] just in case shit hit the fan. When Fang Lin found those magical beans in the 'Item' lists, he just quietly went to nearest tree and introduced his face to it. What an idiot! How can he forget such a miraculous item in one of the most popular series ever... all these times!? They're even this cheap as well considering their powerful healing effect which means... so long as he had enough IP, he and his summons would be practically semi-immortals.
On their 3rd day, Xiao Bai and Ning Er continued sparring/hunting mobs to get used to their new ability and equipment while Fang Lin was trying to create techniques with his 'devil magic'. He wanted to get 3 magic specifically; wide area annihilation attack magic, weapon enchantment magic, and teleportation. The first two were the easiest as he figured out the tricks after an hour each. Teleportation however took him until the end of the day to figure out because he didn't exactly understand that concept. Just how in the hell is this thing a 'beginner' magic in the DxD universe?
On the 4th day of their impromptu training session, it was time to start training in the D.G.A arts. According to the manual in his head, there are only 5 stages in total. The first 4 are only the preparatory phase, the foundation building stages so to speak. It seems that during stages 1-4, the cultivator would experience extreme amount of pain. Those with weak will or low resistance to pain can forget about cultivating this art. The 4th stage in particular is the most dangerous of them all as one wrong move could lead to instant organ failure and the best case scenario is death... Since Fang Lin now has a Phenex body, he became unsure of how this will affect cultivating the D.G.A art.
The first 4 stages are: bone, muscles, skin, then organ strengthening. First, the bones strengthening stage is to grind down everything and reconstruct them into dragon bones. Those new bones, especially the marrows will begin to produce dragon's blood and converting old ones. The 2nd-4th stages are pretty much the same in that the old cells are completely destroyed while creating newer ones that's capable handling extreme amount of 'Origin Energy' without imploding internally. Right! Cultivating the D.G.A arts is actually a process of turning yourself into a dragon! Hence, it is called the 'Dragon God Ascension'! There is even a technique included in the manual to take on a dragon form once one is in the 5th stage. The form, shape and size, is different for everyone and completely dependant on the cultivator though.
After succeeding the most difficult parts of this cultivation technique, stages 1-4, comes the easiest part. The 5th stage itself is actually a 3 in 1 looped process where the cultivator draws in 'Origin Energy', condense it, then spread all the energy to the entire body filling up every cells. As the 'origin energy' is stored in the cells, they get nourished to become more resilient and able to handle more energy thus the process can be repeated ad-infinitum. The closest comparison of gathering and condensing the 'origin energy' would be the process of carbon turning to diamond under extreme heat and pressure.
Now the reason why the 5th stage is easiest is because the looping process would run itself once the cultivator can complete the 1st loop. This means that, as long as Fang Lin doesn't die, once he reached the 5th stage and completed 1 full loop, he would continue to infinitely grow stronger as time passes. In fact, the way the cell gathers, condense, and store energy works almost like the dantian of the battle qi cultivators in this world possess. Wouldn't this mean he can have millions upon millions of 'dantian' vs their measly 1? No wonder there's the word 'God' in this manual... how crazy.
With excitement in his heart, Fang Lin decided to cultivate right away. He just couldn't help but thought of how he'll become, as what some Earthlings would call, SO OP! PLZ NEVER NERF!
