25 12 - End of the Yearly Examination
After that whole debacle with Shen Fei, everyone except Nie Li's group now gave Fang Lin and his girls a wide berth and moved away, especially when they noticed Xiao Bai staring at them. This was fine as well since they would get the space all to themselves. Looking around a bit, Fang Lin immediately took out a comfy 3 person couch along with table from his Spatial Ring, placing them on the martial ground.
With all 3 seated, naturally with Fang Lin in the middle and Xiao Bai jumping onto the table, Fang Lin even started taking out what looked to be tea and breakfast and just... started eating! Everyone else that were still paying attention to their group immediately sweatdrop at the scene. The heck!? Aren't they all here for the yearly examination? Where's the nervousness? The excitement? Why do you look you're on a picnic instead of taking a test?!
Upon noticing Nie Li and his group walking over, Fang Lin took out even chairs for them around the table. The table Fang Lin brought out before was actually big enough for the whole group as if he was already expecting this. As a special service, he even gave Nie Li and Lanruo their own 2-seater which earned him a grateful and a bashful nod from each of them respectively. Everyone else also understood the unsaid invitation and also sat down and started enjoying the food.
"Oh my god! This! Why does this taste so good!?" soon after they took the first bite though, they couldn't help but exclaimed out loud... even asking for they got the food from. "Ah, we didn't get these food anywhere. It was Lin that made them" replied Ziyun when she heard their questions. At that unexpected reply though, everyone's eyes, the crowd lurking nearby included, bulged out comically O_O while in their head, they thought (Pfft! What the fuck!? Unexpectedly, it was Fang Lin that made all these!?) At that moment, the image of the aloof genius they saw Fang Lin as crumbled to dirt as they pictured him wearing an apron and humming a tune while carefully preparing the dishes.
After that little reveal, they just enjoyed the food and chatted normally until examination started. Fang Lin on the other hand was completely enjoying himself to the fullest as he was being fed by the totally red faces of Ning'er and Ziyun while he had both his arms wrapped around waist. Seeing such scene, all the single males on the martial ground were totally furious at Fang Lin and cursing all 9 generations of family.
Very soon, group names were being called up for their respective testing while Fang Lin's group stayed seated and watched in interest, completely relaxed as well. "Hm... the average level seem to be a lot higher than the previous years. Is it because of the new elixirs that the Alchemy Association released...?" pondered Fang Lin out loud. Hearing what he said, Nie Li twitched a little as he started to again remember there was an unknown 'expert' hiding in the background and providing all these benefits to Glory City.
While Nie Li was stuck in his grand delusion of a totally imaginary expert in hiding, their Apprentice Fighter class group finally got called up. Shen Yue who went up first was tested to be 1-star bronze as expected, just sneered at their whole group the whole time and especially at Nie Li. He completely believes that none of the Nie Li's friend, especially Nie Li himself wouldn't be able to reach 1-star bronze as he was just a red soul realm trash. Not to mention he was just a poor noble which wouldn't be able to afford the new elixirs circulating around.
"Hmph, I hope you're prepared to drop out of the institute, Nie Li!" said Shen Yue in total contempt. Soon, Nie Li's friends finally had their turn and their results shocked everyone as expected. Every single one of them were at the minimum in 2-Star Bronze rank! Lu Piao who was revealed to have been slacking off the whole time was actually in the mid 3-Star Bronze rank demon spiritualist! Every one that heard that piece of information nearly fainted from spitting up too much blood due to shock.
Finally, it was Du Ze's turn to go up. The moment he punched the strength testing machine, the crowd was completely amazed. 500 strength! That meant he had the strength of a 5-Star Bronze rank fighter! Just when they thought he didn't have anymore surprise in store, Du Ze went on to exploding the primary soul system! The crowd of course went into a frenzy at this, the VIP areas included. They even started fighting on who will will become his 'Master' as expected.
Seeing such results from Nie Li's followers, Shen Xiu paled in fright. If even they had such a result, then what about Nie Li himself? Fang Lin who noticed her expression smirked a bit. Hmm... judging by her expression, guess that little gift he left for her that time he went to the Apprentice Fight Class hadn't activated yet... That must means she hadn't climbed up the ladder in the Sacred Family as of yet. When she does however... that's when he could finally deal a serious blow to Shen Hong and the rest!
"Hehe... look at how surprised they look. Wait til my Yun'er and Ning'er get up there... let's see their reactions then" said Fang Lin as he gave a light peck on Nin'er and Ziyun's cheek which earned her a big blush. "M-mou,.... don't do that... everyone's looking...!" stammered out ZIyun. Seeing her reaction, both Fang Lin and Ning'er just chuckled. What a cute reaction... still so innocent! (Wonder what her reaction will be like when I finally 'pushed' her down...) thought Fang Lin wickedly.
Needless to say both the girls result made the crowd go wild even more so since they were both beauties in their right! Fang Lin of course wasn't at all about ZIyun's result when looking at the [Lv39] on top of her head. Just a bit more and she can break through into the Gold Rank! Maybe it's about time he took the girls into the Heavenly Border and find that Thunder God Meteorite Sword? Yes... let's do that after this test.
As for Ning'er result... with her current strength, she can easily take on any Legend Rank expert and be in advantageous position let alone this silly low rank test. She of course didn't go all out and kept her strength at around Ziyun's level. As for Fang Lin himself... well he actually wasn't here for the test at all and only were here for both his girls. Good he did too since he was able to take this chance to cancel Ning'er engagement with the Sacred Family.
According to the original story, at most Shen Fei would have only challenged them to a tournament that the Sacred Family will be holding sometimes later. Too bad though, the existence of Xiao Bai provoked that guy into an almost frenzied state and he challenged them right then and there. The fact that Fang Lin secretly was using his hypnosis definitely helped in that regard as well...
Finally it was Nie Li's turn to go up and the whole he just grinned at Shen Xiu inp provocation. "Hehe... looking at their interactions... maybe I should set her up with Nie Li? That sounded like an interesting couple..." whispered Fang Lin to himself with a mischievous smirk. Xiao Bai who noticed his looks just sweat dropped. (Uh oh... is he planning to prank someone? That better not be me...) she thought.

The results were obvious from the very start with Nie Li winning the bet and Shen Xiu withdrawing from the Institute while everyone in their group were accepted into the Genius Class. As he and girls were just hanging around in his room, he suddenly said "Hm... let's take a trip into the Heavenly Border and take this chance for Yun'er to advance into the Gold Rank. Before that though... we'll be going somewhere else first. I heard there will be some auction happening so we might as well go look since we might find some good stuff there."
The auction he's talking about is of course the one that's going to be held by the Hong Yue family. Fang Lin's goal naturally was the 'Nightmare Demon Pot' (heh.. pot...). Although he hasn't decided whether or not to buy it or letting Nie Li taking it. Well, he'll decide once he's at the auction. "Ah... I already asked her earlier and sis Yang Xin said she would be coming with us as well" suddenly added Fang Lin.
At the name Yang Xin, the girls had a slight reaction which Fang Lin completely missed. Yang Xin... the girls were of course familiar with this name as she would also sometimes come over to hang out with them. Most of the time, she would just bother Fang Lin though with the excuse of 'talking about alchemy'. Most important of all... it was also Yang Xin that gave Ning'er and Ziyun the 'advice' of 'visiting' Fang Lin at night... not that he realized that though... Glancing at each other, the girls had their own little conversation through just eye contacts alone then after seemingly coming to a conclusion, they nodded at each other and asked Fang Lin when they would be leaving.
"Hm... we'll go after the school semester is officially over as for the traveling method... it seems sis Yang Xin will be the one to cover that. Said she's bringing some guards with her as well... only at Gold Rank at most though... and probably 1 Black Gold" said Fang Lin as he noticed the moon hanging hide in the sky. "Well.. it's late, let's just turn in for the night and we'll figure things out more tomorrow." added Fang Lin as he just headed for the bed. Ning'er and Ziyun also followed suit and walked towards the bed, with the latter blushing a little. Right, a few days ago Ziyun had also been sleeping here. Of course Fang Lin hadn't been able to play the 'Pa Pa Pa' game with Ning'er since Ziyun as well as Xiao Bai were there as well. Oh well... he'll find the chances for that some other time... for now, let's just sleep.
