24 11 - It's Time to D-D-Duel!
In the morning of the Holy Orchid Institute, Fighter Apprentice class's yearly examination, 3 figures +1 cat could be seen walking on the streets of Glory City, hand in hand. Those figures are of course Fang Lin, Xiao Ning'er and Ye Ziyun along with Xiao Bai currently hanging off of Fang Lin's shoulder lazily. The sight of Fang Lin in between two beauties while holding both their hands and happily chatting as they walked, naturally drew the attention of everyone. The women were envious of the two 'lucky girls' while the men were sending glares filled jealous hate for scoring with beauties. Not that the group cared though as they simply ignored all the gazes directed at them...
Ever since Ziyun and Ning'er made up with each other, her interactions with Fang Lin continued to increase on daily basis although they were still on the level 'friend of a friend'. When Ning'er left her family and stayed over with her, all 3 grew even closer and became close friends. The fact that Ziyun now know Fang Lin's, Ning'er's, and even Xiao Bai's real strength is proof of this. As a bonus, she even found out that Xiao Bai actually has human level intellect and also having a Human form although she had not assumed it since messing with Shen Hong a month ago.
It was only last week, after the uh... 'intense' exercise he had with Ning'er that she became even closer to Fang Lin. In fact, she was now fine even with physical contacts such as hand holding and even hugs however, there still no kisses yet. What brought that change on... well Fang Lin is unsure however he guessed that both Ning'er and Ziyun had some sort of agreement with each other. Fang Lin don't know why, but everytime he saw the two girls whispering with each other then looking at him... it send chills down his spine. Almost as if his future was being decided on for him without his consent...
Speaking of 'that' night though... yeah... apparently the walls in his room were preeeetty thin why Fang Lin and Ning'er were kind of --cough-- loud... That morning after, when both he and Ning'er showed up at their usual spot for breakfast, what they found was a bloodshot eyes Ziyun with bags under them. Noticing her condition, both were of course worried at first... that is until Ziyun looked over at them... blushed with steam practically exploding out of her head.
It was at this moment that Fang Lin remembered that his courtyard and Ziyun's were practically next to each other! Judging by the blush Ning'er is now sporting, it seems she's realized that their night exercise was most likely heard... Looking over to see Xiao Bai giving a confused look at the trio's state, Fang Lin heaved a sigh of relief since it was likely the case that she slept through everything. Wanting to salvage this situation even a little bit, Fang Lin opened his mouth to say something but before he could, Ziyun dragged Ning'er by the hand and walked back to Ziyun's room.
After their 'girls talk', Ziyun could be seen always blushing and unable to look at his face whenever they happened to look at each others direction for that whole day. It was only the day after that Ziyun became... more intimate? Clingy?... Fang Lin wasn't sure which adjective to use... When he asked her about her recent behavior, the answer he received was "isn't fine...? I... I am your fiance after all... and we'll.. soon..---!" then before she finished her answer, she blushed hard and promptly ran away. Hearing that answer and seeing her action, Fang Lin's lower jaw almost dropped to the ground from shock! Wot!? What kind of talk did she talk with Ning'er?! Wasn't she supposed to be upset that he and Ning'er....? Not being able to figure out anything, Fang Lin just left that situation as is and wait for everything to playout by itself.

Before they knew it, the group made it to the martial field of the institute where the examination was to be taking place. Instantly, the whole field quieted down almost as if they were shocked from just being told a universal secret. As if not noticing, or perhaps uncaring of everyone's reaction, the group just continued on their without much fanfare.
Seeing their uncaring attitude, everyone in the field started whispering with each other while stealing glances at Fang Lin's group. Their great reaction was of course not due to Fang Lin being intimate with the girls. As everyone of Fang Lin's engagement status with Ye Ziyun, they didn't really care about that about. Their surprise was due to Xiao Ning'er of the WInged Dragon Family being one of those girls!
Just as he and Ye Ziyun's engagement status was clear to everyone... but so was Xiao Ning'er to Shen Fei of the Sacred Family! So what was going with this scene they were seeing? Even Ye Zong who was seated in the VIP/judging area was confused at this as he eyed Fang Lin a bit. Looking at how his daughter was fine with this situation though, he relented after a moment and decided to let Fang Lin deal with this situation by himself...
Shen Fei upon this seeing this scene was of course more than furious! So much so that his anger had leaked to his surroundings causing the nearby people back away from him lest they risk all that anger directed towards them. Not being able to stand it any longer, he marched towards Fang Lin's group, eyes on fire due to rage and looked determine as if he was about to murder an entire village. Shen Yue on the side was sneering at Fang Lin the whole time... as if knowing he was about to get thrashed by his big bro.
"Halt!" shouted Shen Fei as he got near them. Hearing a voice suddenly directed at them of course they stopped on reflex. Not because they were afraid or anything... just curious on who this person that shouted at them was and what the hell does he want? While this was happening, everyone else on the martial field was eagerly watching a play about to happen. Nie Li, his now girlfriend, Huyan Lanruo, plus all of his friends who were already at the field were also spectating. Ready to jump in case things get too heated since they were friends. Well everyone except Nie Li was worried since he already knew a rough estimate of Fang Lin's strength.
"Hmph... you are Fang Lin? To have such gall... release your hand from MY fiance immediately!" growled out Shen Fei, looking as if he's ready pounce anytime soon. Hearing such nonsense so early in the morning, Fang Lin just slightly raised one of brow a little while looking at Shen Fei as if he an idiot. Seeing such a reaction of course further enraged Shen Fei as he charged in, intending to break Fang Lin's hand that was holding Ning'er's.
Before he could take a 2nd step in his charge though, the sharp tip of a Katana pushed right against his throat completely halting him in place. If that sword moved even a little bit more, he might not be able to keep his life today...! Suddenly a cold voice resounded throughout the field "Shen Fei... I, Xiao Ning'er, had never once recognized the engagement the Sacred Family had forced on me. Hm, this is a good chance... Today, I, Xiao Ning'er shall challenge you to duel. The winner get to decide on what to do with this engagement status!"
Before either party could say anything however, a hand came from behind Ning'er and over her torso, pulling her into Fang Lin's bosom. "Maa maa~ For something like this... there's no need for MY Ning'er to be personally involved... Hm, that duel is still a pretty good idea though... I got it! We'll have the duel with the same winning condition, but... you, Shen Fei, the one you'll be facing is this little kitten right here." said Fang Lin in a somewhat jesting tone while pointing at Xiao Bai that was still lazily lounging on his shoulder.
Hearing what Ning'er's words, Shen Fei's face reddened due to shame and anger. When he then heard what Fang Lin said, he couldn't it in anymore and erupted! "YOU! You DARE to mock me!? Shen Fei, of the Sacred Family!? Who do you think you are!?" Watching Shen Fei erupting didn't even phase Fang Lin a little as he said "So you accept then? Xiao Bai, as long as he's not crippled, critically injured, or killed, anything goes. Have fun~" as he rubbed Xiao Bai's head a little to get her attention.
Seeing as Fang Lin still continues to 'mock' him, unaware that he was completely serious with everything he just said, Shen Fei growled and charged, intending to smash his face into oblivion. "RAAAAAAWR!" Just as he got near though, a scene so mythical that it wouldn't even be told as a fairy tale happened in front of everyone's eyes. It was the scene of a kitten leaping off of Fang Lin's toward the chargin Shen Fei... before smacking him in the face with her little paw... which immediately sent him smashing towards the ground.
Ye Zong who was in the VIP seat, still sipping his tea as he watched this spectacle, promptly spat everything out. Pfft! The hell did my old eyes just see? But for some reason... this scene looked a little familiar...? Everyone else on the field also turned mute at such a scene, and for a couple of seconds, it was so quiet you can hear the sound of a pin dropping. That is until everyone started bursting their guts laughing at Shen Fei.
"Pfft Bwahahaha! I say... as expected of the Sacred Family's young master Shen Fei! I didn't know he was practicing to be a comedian!" loudly jeered a random mob while the others near him added onto the jabbing. Seeing such a scene as expected, Fang Lin didn't even look a bit perturbed as he said "I guess it's our win then? From today on, MY Ning'er is no longer your fiance" as he added salt into Shen Fei's wounded pride.
After a bit of a struggle, Shen Fei stood back up while trembling. No one knew whether the trembling was due to shame or the injury he sustained from being hit by Xiao Bai. "Y-you! To use such a shameless trick on me! Die for me!" shouted Shen Fei as he merged with his Scarlet Black Tiger demon spirit and charged in once again. This time his momentum looked heroic and unstoppable... until the little kitten jumped and proceeded to smacking Shen Fei in the face again.
*CRACK!*
This time, Shen Fei was sent flying for a couple of meters while puking up blood along with the sounds of bones being broken. The field immediately went silent again, but no one laughed this time as they clearly what happened this time. Almost everyone here were aware of Shen Fei's strength as a 1-Star Gold Rank demon spiritualist. But the scene of him being easily taken care of by this little kitten...! What the heck kind of cat is that!? Sure the first time they can take it Shen Fei not being on his guard, but the 2nd time he was clearly ready and even merged with his demon spirit!
Fang Lin didn't even bat an eyelash seeing the now unconscious Shen Fei sightly twitching occasionally on the ground. "Looks like it's our win then... I thank everyone here for bearing witness to Xiao Ning'er of the Winged Dragon Family breaking off the engagement to Shen Fei of the Sacred Family" said Fang Lin he lightly smile while patting the head of Xiao Bai who was back on his shoulder. Not caring anymore about the surrounding people, Fang Lin once again unreservedly took both girls hands and started to once again continue walking to their spot.
