21 08 - Sudden Reveal...!
Everyone was currently in a merry mood after they found the hidden room under the military ground. Although there weren't any equipments to be found, there were still other riches for them that made the trip worth it. Fang Lin was of course offered the first pick of the treasures due to the strength he displayed earlier which was of course refused. The reason Fang Lin gave was that he didn't contribute much the whole time and so the first pick was naturally given to Nie Li. This in turn made Nie Li even more grateful towards him as he could now get that Shadow Devil Lamp he wanted.
After a bit more exploration, the group found the underground palace where Emperor Kong Ming's tomb was. Sadly they found only an empty coffin and a bunch of corpse which just made the girls sad at the discovery. Not being an idiot, Fang Lin of course took this chance to pull them into his embrace so as to give them some comfort. Why not? Even Nie Li is doing the same with Huyan Lanruo on the side. Although the sight was a little funny since Nie Li was a lot shorter than Lanruo, the girl of the pair.
With nothing else to discover, the group just paid their due respect towards the dead and left for the surface once more. As they were about to have a triumphant return however, they quickly found out they were completely surrounded by figures clad in black robes! They were of course none other than Deacon Yun Hua and his cohorts of the Dark Guild. Everyone was of course scared shitless after seeing the Dark Guild members especially after knowing their leader was at least a Gold Rank expert.
Fang Lin mean while still had a nonchalant attitude as he kept scanning about for hidden members. How? Of course through the level indicators above their head! This system is such a cheat... seriously. Everyone should get one at their local convenience store.
Glancing towards Ning'er, she seemed to have gotten the message and moved closer to Ziyun while taking out her Zanpakuto intending to act as a bodyguard. "So... Dark Guild members I presume...? You can't tell how happy I am to finally meet some of you bastards." said Fang Lin in an angry dark tone. This is definitely him playing the vengeful victim to show his hatred for the 'tragedy' that was caused by the Dark Guild. He don't know about others, but Nie Li was definitely convinced now from that line alone.
Deacon Yun Hua on the other hand just completely ignored Fang Lin as he didn't even deem him as a threat, no one in that group did in fact. Oh how wrong he was... if only he knew...
"Capture the noble kids and kill the rest!" said with finality in their tone. As soon as he finished giving out the order, he disappeared and reappeared in front Fang Lin, sword already in a chopping motion with the intention of crippling him.
Ye Ziyun and Nie Li who noticed the Deacon's intention, cried in alarm, "Fang Lin!" "No!" Ning'er of course didn't join in on the fun she knew Fang Lin could handle himself... Before they even finished shouting however, Black Dao struck out with not even a blur could be seen to those nearby. With a 'plop', both of Deacon Yun's arms fell to the ground. "Wha... what happened?" Questioned Deacon Yun, as he didn't dare to believe what just happened. How could this be...? Didn't their intel say he should at most be peak Silver Rank!?
Not too soon, Deacon Yun uttered out a howl as pain finally caught up to him.
"AAAAAAH! My arms!" before he could continue however, he was interrupted by Fang Lin "Shut up, you're too noisy!" Then he proceeded to knee him in the gut knocking the air out of him. Not done yet, Fang Lin stabbed Black Dao through both of Deacon Yun's knee caps just to make sure he can't escape somehow later. Seriously, why doesn't everyone do this in animes and novels when capturing bad guys? They always seemed to escape somehow because those pussyass MCs are too dumb to disable the bad guys...
Everything that just transpired happened in the blink of an eye which left everyone reeling in shock! The Dark Guild members especially as their next strongest were only in the Silver Rank! Now panic stricken, the Dark Guild members wanted to escape from that monster child in front of them. Before they could put that thought into action however, arrows of flames, numbering close to the triple digits, covered the sky enclosing all escape routes!
Now even more scared shitless at the spectacle, one the goons tried to utter out something, "Wai-" Too bad he never got the chance to finish as the whole group became a pin cushion to fire arrows and burned alive leaving nothing but human shaped charcoals. (It seems my control over my fire magic is still subpar if I couldn't even burn them down to ashes.... also barely 10% exp? Trash mobs indeed) morbidly thought Fang Lin.
Their expedition group on the other hand just mutely watched the whole thing as if they were watching a fantastical dream. (Holy shit! What was that!?) was exactly the thought in everyone else's minds although they still spell shocked at they just witnessed so none voiced out their questions.
With a cold countenance, Fang Lin looked over to the Deacon who was about to die from the bleeding and the shock. At that pitiful sight, he just snorted and gave the Deacon some quick aid before he really does die. "Hmph, Dark Guild bastard, you and I... we're going to have a very long chat with the City Lord..." finally said in a dark tone as if he was King Yama handing down judgement. Man, his acting skills just keep getting better and better! The fact that it hadn't showed up in the system as a 'skill' yet is definitely a bug... where are those useless GMs when you need them..?

Hearing Fang Lin's words finally woke Chen Linjian up from the shock. "B-brother Lin... this whole trip... your purpose wasn't to hunt these Dark Guild members... right?" he asked unsurely. Hearing the question posed by Chen Linjian, everyone else also woke up and turned all their attention towards Fang Lin.
"...Yes... to be honest, it was only a hunch. A group of students with none not even in the Gold Rank yet going out on an expedition, which had at least 2 scions of Major families plus a few noble family youngsters sounded like a perfect targets for them. This is why I wanted to join..."
Hearing Fang Lin's answer, every one were impressed and came to admire him. It was Fang Lin after all that saved them from a fate probably worse than death earlier. Deep into their admiration, they failed to remember asking why he would bring his girlfriends to such a dangerous mission. Seeing the look of admiration in everyone's eyes, Fang Lin felt a little funny and couldn't withstand all this attention and finally said "Everyone, lets return to Glory City as quick as possible... who knows if there are any more of these bastards around? Can I get some people to secure this prisoner while I take front guard? Also make sure he doesn't try to commit suicide or something... we still need him alive after all."
Hearing Fang Lin's words finally woke them up as they realized they still might be in a perilous situations. And so everyone quickly marched out towards Glory City in a somber mood the whole journey.

After a bit over a week since their expedition, the group finally felt relieved in a long while as they made it back to Glory City... to home. Words of Nie Li's deeds quickly spread earning the ire and jealousy of Shen Yue. As for the Fang Lin's prowess... it of course spread around yet almost no one would believe it. A peak Gold Rank or early Black Gold rank 14 years old? Don't be ridiculous... if you want to spin such a wild tale at least do it in your sleep! If only they knew the truth... that Fang Lin is actually in the same league as a Legend Rank... who knew whether or not they would get a heart attack from such a shocking news...
Wasting no time at all, Fang Lin brought Deacon Yun Hua to Ye Zong in City Lord mansion all the whilst summoning noble family heads and alchemy association in the name of the 'City Lord'. Sacred Family head was of course in this list. As a safety precaution, Fang Lin sent both Xiao Bai and Ning'er to watch the entrants and hinder any Sacred Family member from entree, Shen Hong especially.
"Now then, nephew Fang Lin, why have you summoned everyone here in the City Lord's name no less? This is a serious act that can not be abused lightly..." said Ye Zong in an almost accusatory tone, while at the same time quite curious at what he was up to. Hearing what Ye Zong had said, the other family heads nodded in agreement. Seeing their current attitude, Fang Lin was unperturbed and just held out his hand, which silenced everyone in the meeting room.
"Everyone should have some knowledge of the expedition brother Chen Linjian had manned sometimes last week?" At Fang Lin's question, everyone nodded their head. Of course they would when at least 2 of the Major families' scion were in the group. That's big news no matter how stealthy they wanted to be.
"Then did you also know that on our trip, our group was ambushed by a group of Dark Guild members?" At Fang Lin's sudden declaration, every one sucked in a breath of cold air. So what those bunch of youngsters were spreading throughout the city were true! It was also then that they realized who that disabled fellow by Fang Lin's feet was. Noticing their gaze, Fang Lin just nodded and said "Yes, you are correct. This here is the leader of that Dark Guild group that I've personally captured. As I've a few tricks in getting answers out of people, I gathered as many family heads here as I can here as witness to the process."
Hearing what he said, everyone were really excited! Finally some info on the Dark Guild! These guys have been so elusive for so many years, they can finally get a lead!
"As some of you might have noticed the lack of presence of the Sacred Family head... I assure you this is not a mistake but" before Fang Lin could continue however, there seemed to be some commotions by the door which sounded suspiciously like the Sacred Family head, Shen Hong. His attempts at forcing his way in seems to be met with failures however...
"As... I was saying earlier... the reason the Sacred Family is excluded in this meeting... It is my suspicion that... the Sacred Family has betrayed Glory City, and is colluding with the Dark Guild!"
