6 Intruders

Marienburg was a posh little coastal city. We had undone our transformation and mounts as to not attract any attention and sneaked into the city with ease. Yellow had found a service terminal and was currently taking control of the cities security systems.

"I'm in. I can create a virtual bank account for us and fill it with some money but we'll need a corresponding card or a phone to spend the money."

"Get me the blueprint and materials and I can make one."

Creating a credit card wouldn't be too hard for me. It couldn't be more difficult than creating a grade nine weapon.

"Oh? The ultra-deluxe VIP card is made out of structon. Here, catch."

Yellow threw a block of structon at me while simultaneously sending a blueprint directly into my mind. But really, who in their right mind uses a material that is amongst the strongest and most precious in existence to make a credit card?

Sure, I am doing that at the moment but our little group has an unlimited supply of structon. While I was rambling on in my mind my hands quickly shaped the block of structon into the desired card shape and I added the relevant enchantments.

"One structon credit card. So, who are you going to steal our money from?"

"Let me see it. Everything seems in order. Also, I'm not going to steal any money. These cards are given to members who paid enough money that the bank believes they cannot spend it all. Thus, this little card has no corresponding account balance and can pay unlimited amounts."

"Seems like it could easily mess with the system."

"It could but since all the money is digital and the criteria to receive such a card is exceedingly strict nothing of the sort happened so far."

Not willing to engage in further small talk with me Yellow handed the card to her majesty. Aurelia had gone to find us a hotel to stay in and returned soon after.

"I asked around and found a nice hotel. Their suite takes up two entire stories. Man, people are so nice here, four guys offered to buy me a drink."

"They tried to ask you out?"

"Yes, they probably wanted a one night stand with this sister here."

"Do you have to refer to yourself in such a manner?"

"Oh, your vicious words hurt this big sister deeply. Sniff, sniff."

"Be hurt later. Let's get to the hotel and then buy me a computer. If I don't get my daily dose of strategy games today I will bloody murder someone."

Our adorable little banter was interrupted by her Majesty's urging to get going. Her withdrawal symptoms started to show, she must be so bored without anything to multitask.

We more or less successfully checked into the suite of the hotel. The bit of mind magic I used to make the receptionist lady calm down didn't count as difficult, did it?

Aurelia and Yellow left to buy some phones and other technical appliances for the group to use while the rest of us held a strategy meeting.

"They will be coming after us, won't they?"

Her Majesty tried her best to make her voice seem worried but she failed to hide the wide grin that spread across her face. She loved strategy meetings of this sort and insisted on us holding them despite our ability to just transfer our thought.

"According to one of Yellow's drones planted on the warden, they have started a giant search in every coastal city. They are likely to find us by the end of today but we'll only be facing a standard team. I'd be very surprised if there was a single archmage among them."

The usually taciturn Red was very well informed. Of all of us, he was the person Yellow spent the most time with and they held a constant mental bridge between each other.

"What should we do if they find us?"

Someone had to ask the question. As usual, this duty fell onto me since this discussion would last for hours if I didn't.

"We have committed no crime and we were on that island of our own volition. Should they come after us with force then we will respond in kind. Armed units that attempt to make contact will be directly eliminated unless we are in public."

Her Majesty's eyes were like two blazing stars. I pitied those who came after us, their fate had been decided at this moment.

"Red, what's the standard unit composition we will likely face this time?"

"We can't be sure of that your Majesty. Every city has a small number of units for situations like these. Every team has varying strengths that have been purposely kept off their network. However, the default composition is made up of 4 combat robots, a few mages using body strengthening and battle techniques also known as combat mages, and at least two mages controlling multiple steel golems."

"In other words, have the robots turn on them while one of us takes care of the golem controllers and they are done for."

"That is if we get a default unit. But from their network we know that they have customized nearly every team by adding one or two variables."

"So it would be best if we took care of the variables before they can take action, agreed?"

After we had finalized the details of how we would deal with any undesirables Aurelia and Yellow returned. Then we each did our own thing as we busied ourselves on the internet.

Her Majesty downloaded her favorite strategy games, Yellow hacked herself into the high council's systems, Aurelia watched some make-up tutorials online, Red searching for inspiration, Rose was tapping furiously in some idle garden game and I was reading web novels as any sensible person would.

A few hours passed while I was immersed in delightful stories of people who didn't exist or were perhaps just very far away. Despite my good mood, I couldn't help but curse internally when I detected the intruders.

They had entered the reception area and scared the living crap out of the receptionist. They then proceeded towards the elevator, not one of them went for the stairs. Now the only room that cannot be left using the stairs was our suite on the highest floor of the hotel. Thus, I deduced that they were here for us.

"We've got company."
