Whats next?

On their way out, they stopped to grab something to eat. Chris being himself treated them which sparked Connor's internal alarm. This is Chris, there has to be something behind this!

The street was filled with people, some selling and the other buying. People just walk around and others have a shady look on them.

"Connor!" Connor heard the voice of a woman calling him, she was Vanessa that just caught up.

It seems like she wasn't able to keep up with Connor teleporting around like how Chris and Kinryuu did. Her hair was a bit messy from running around.

"Yo! What happened?" Connor asked.

Vanessa got a bit angry, Kinryuu and Chris felt that and moved from beside Connor.

"The hero suddenly disappeared and you asked me what happened?" Vanessa's Claw extended.

"Listen, sorry about that it was an emergency!" Connor tried explaining himself.

Vanessa didn't waste time arguing with him, she wasn't that angry after all! Calming herself up. "Doesn't matter, next time say something before disappearing!"

"Sorry!"

"Let's go grab more chicken, I can smell it on the winds!" Chris said, pointing toward a far stall. Everyone has already caught the smell but Chris was the only one to point it out.

People seemed to be wary of Connor and his friends, nobody dare ask directly but they seem to have recognized him as the hero.

"Grilled chicken breast, four of them and something to drink!" Chris shouted to the stall owner.

"Coming right up! Want with olive oil like the ones you took this morning?" The owner responded.

"No need, just make sure they are juicy!"

As they were waiting Connor asked why chicken again? Is it just Chris liking it or something else? The reply he got was unexpected but made sense. Chickens are easy to raise, they provide a reasonable amount of meat but not too much. If they slaughter a cow for example they need to eat the whole thing or dry it! Fridges don't exist here and the demand is a little bit low, the little feathery ones are a safer choice!

"Is that all? I guess I can somewhat understand but I really wished to have something light!"

"Don't worry, there is a lot more to unpack. I did bring you here to test something! A specialty of this world you can say!"

Hahahahahah! Kinryuu started laughing, "Yeah, I remember that day, your face was priceless at that time! I wasn't even expecting that when I treated you to it!"

"What is it?" Connor asked in confusion, wondering why is Kinryuu related to whatever they were going to eat.

"Wait and you will see... It will be fun!"...." For me of course!" Said Chris under his breath.

A few minutes later the food arrived, four servings of grilled chicken.

Connor looked at the food suspiciously, It look a bit different than the chicken breasts that he is used to. A bit bigger, round, and have an overall smooth look to it. From one look he can say that it's must be juicy. Was it that this shop's food is just too good? Was this what Chris was referring to?

{Notice: Oh! This seems interesting... I wonder what you will have to say after trying it!} Ariel seems intrigued by it for some reason.

Hearing Ariel, Connor tried it. It was juicy, abnormally so! As if it was filled with meat juices it burst inside Connor's mouth. It tasted like a weird mixture between beef and chicken, the latent smell of charcoal was still hanging in it.

"Gotta admit, this is pretty good for something Chosen by you, Chris!" Connor said as he took another bit.

"What can I say, I have a... Refined taste! Now for the truth." Chris said with a smug face. "Chickens in this world are actually mammals!" With a large grin on his face, looking directly at Connor.

"Wait what?"

"Instead of laying eggs, they give live birth and have to produce milk to nourish their young! What you have eaten now was what we would call a chicken udder!"

"I literally didn't need to know that!" Connor said hardly able to swallow. " Now I can't take the image of a chicken with udders attached to it from my head!" looking kinda sick.

"They have two heads, and their beaks are filled with sharp teeth. Their wing also ends with a small claw!" Chris kept describing what these world chickens look like.

Chris after that asked the owner to bring them a live chicken, let's just say that Connor didn't like what he saw!

It took them a while to finish, as Chris was enjoying tormenting Connor. Vanessa and Kinryuu enjoyed a meal as they talked about how Roa city is doing after the fight with Xaviin. Vanessa said they are renewing Xaviins fortress to be a base of the shadow hand guild and a hideout for the hero, Kinryuu promised to find a way to help her with supplies as well giving her connection to some people in power so the guild can grow even faster. Unexpectedly Vanessa struck a really good deal as Connor was thinking about chickens with udders!

After they finished they headed toward the remaining church of Avander. There were two in the city and Alice burned one of them to help Connor.

Inside the Church, Alice was awaiting them with the head priest. Her cloth was that of a priestess as well. Noice! Connor thought as he saw her.

Unable to help it, Connor noticed the looks the nuns were giving him. Fear, hate, disgust, and admiration. Oh yeah, Alice did burn one of their churches to help me, It's pretty bad if I had to guess!

The priest signaled to the nuns to leave them alone. Facing the avander statue was only the head priest, Alice, Connor, Kinryuu, and Chris, everyone else exited the room even Vanessa.

"I thought I told you to leave!" The priest shouted looking at Kinryuu and Chris.

"Calm down grandpa, it's bad for your health! I haven't heard Avander in years so I will stay!" Chris said with a casual face.

"He is right kid, you're a thousand years early to order me around! I have serious business with your so-called god! Isn't that right AVANDER!" Kinryuu added up, anger can be felt in his voice.

"What is this audacity, you dare insult our..." The priest was interrupted by a diving voice from behind him.

"THAT ONE WAS ROGUE! YOU KNOW THAT I DIDN'T SEND HIM WITHOUT THE NEED OF ME TO SPEAK!" Avander spoke to them from the statue.

"Just wanted Confirmation, I hope you will keep them under check in the future. Remember breaking the treaty with Inferno can be disastrous!"

Seeing the confused Connor Chris explained briefly. while he was asleep an angel attacked Alice! Of course, he and Kinryuu managed to drive it off but Kinryuu was pissed they targeted Alice.

This world was under the direct protection of Inferno, outsiders like gods aren't allowed to interfere physically with the world or they will be trespassing on Inferno's territory. How could inferno keep the gods at bay, why this treaty is a thing? Chris didn't know as Inferno only to Kinryuu about it.

"So how can Inferno stop a god from intervening in this world?" Connor asked without thinking, this scared even Chris as its answer is a thing even he wasn't told.

Kinryuu looked directly at Connor as if wondering what to say.

"I CAN TALK ABOUT IT TO NOT BREAK THE TREATY, TAKE IT AS AN APOLOGY FOR MY SERVANT RUDENESS TO THE HOLY MAIDEN! ONCE WAS A GOD NAMED ALOR, A GOD OF SELF-IMPROVEMENT AND THE HUNT. FOR A REASON UNKNOWN TO ME HE PISSED OFF INFERNO SO SHE PROCEEDED TO BURN ALL HIS BELIEVERS IN THE WORLD, ERASING ALL HIS SCRIPTURE FROM THE WORLD. WITH TIME HE WAS FORGOTTEN AND STARVED TO DEATH FROM THE LACK OF FAITH IN HIM! TO A GOD, PRAYERS ARE THEIR LIFELINE, THE NUMBER OF BELIEVERS REFLECTS HIS POWER! IF HE HAS NON HE WILL VANISH SOONER OR LATER!"

Ariel summarised in a short for Connor to understand. A god needs active believers to exist. Inferno erased all of Alor's believers so he died. This might be a roundabout way of killing a god without a direct confrontation!

"Avander-sama..."The priest said.

"Avandor-sama, would you like to explain what we talked about before?" Alice said with a confident voice.

"I WILL ACCEPT THE DESTRUCTION OF MY CHURCH AS A NECESSARY SACRIFICE TO SAVE MY BELIEVERS AND WILL PURSUE IT FURTHER. RATHER I HAVE A MISSION FOR YOU THAT I BELIEVE WILL BE BENEFICIAL FOR BOTH OF US!"

As the voice echoed through the church, Connor tried to pay attention.

"What is it? I have things to do and I hope it will not belong!" Connor said, for some reason he felt comfortable speaking even though he was faced with a god. Even Alice who showed great confidence was sweating as she talked. For him to feel nothing was weird.

"TO THE FURTHEST NORTH EXIST A VILLAGE OF MY PEOPLE, THE MOONELVES ARE HAVING A CRISIS AND I WANT YOU TO HELP THEM SOLVE IT! FOR THAT EFFORT I WILL HELP YOU REVIVE THE ONE NAMED LYDIA!" Avander stated.

Connor got excited, as well as Alice. "Will you really help? This makes me even more confident!" Connor said.

"{Notice: What are the details? You surely don't expect us to go without any information, right? So-called god!}"

Kinryuu burst laughing, his mouth opened wide. his voice shook the entire building.

"This is priceless, what a sharp one! To catch on so quickly!"

"THE MOONELVES BLOOD IS A REQUIREMENT FOR MAKING ARTIFICIAL BODY. IF YOU INTEND TO REVIVE A HUMAN YOU WILL NEED THAT! HELP THEM AND THEY WILL GIVE IT TO YOU WILLINGLY!" Avander's presence disappeared after he said that as if not wanting to discuss it further.

Avander's presence returned for a moment.

"CHRIS MY CHILD, BLESSING ON YOU. SORRY FOR NOT HAVING TIME TO CHAT MORE BUT REMEMBER THAT YOU'RE ALWAYS WELCOMED IN MY CHURCH. I ALREADY REAPPLIED THE BLESSING ON YOUR MASK, IT SHOULD HOLD FOR ANOTHER DECADE! MY THE HOLY LIGHT CLEANSE YOUR PATH!" Avander's presence disappeared again.

"Hehe, I was about to ask. thank you for your generous gift!" Chris replied.

"He is a good guy, never breaks his promises even when it inconveniences him!" Kinryuu said with a gentle smile.

"I don't know if I'm dumb or what but I can't keep up!" Connor said.

The priest tried to ask what the hell was this about but was shut down by Kinryuu. This isn't a topic for a mere human like you to interfere in!

"Connor-sama! Let's head home, we can discuss this later!" Alice said as she hugged Connor's arm.

They left the priest with his mouth open, what is going on?

On the way, Ariel told Connor something in secret, without speaking out loud, directly into his mind.
