10 |Loss and Purpose|

Silence enveloped the two and with no one speaking it became severely hard to even bring life to the dead atmosphere. The two Cardinals admired Alice greatly but at times like this where she was entrusted with a task, it became hard to even start a conversation truly. The two stood at the head of the table still and being unable to hold in her curiosity for too long Liliana was on the edge of bursting.

" Your Holi-"

She began but was cut short when a muffled cough resonated from the table. This was the first sign of life the two had gotten from this person since they entered the room. It was clear Alice had placed him into a long sleep in order to transport him here with 'minimal' issue. She had just now lifted her hold on him and allowed him to wake up.

--

"Fuck-"

Jian felt dazed, winded, and nauseous all at once and the mixture of feelings brought him to the edge of discomfort and close to throwing up. But, upon opening his eyes he noticed that. First, he was alive. Second, he wasn't alone.

Third, he did not know where he was! His eyeballs seemed to rotate in circles as he looked in each direction for a landmark, but could only see darkness, which was slightly lightened up from the open door.

He couldn't see beneath the horizon that was his feet, "Where!- "

"Oh, so you are alive huh?- ow!"

"Lily be quiet" Ren commanded Liliana.

"Fine elder sister"

There were two women above Jian's head, however, he could not make out their faces from how he laid on the table. He tried to move, but soon noticed he was restrained and bound by carbon black chains. They seemed to bind him with his own strength and any motion was met with equal power if not even more.

Just moving alone made his head hurt and caused the room to spin. He quickly calmed down a little and stopped trying to get out.

"Who are you people and why?- Where are my clansmen!?"

His memory began to clear up and he remembered the horrid encounter they had with the angel of death from the Sea God Cathedral. Just recalling the memory made his breathing short and heartburn with a sense agony. He saw it. Jian watched as everyone from his group was dismembered and tortured for information then killed at the hands of the Sea God troops.

They held nothing back and even the near high-rank Bishops they had could not do a thing with the angel of death watching from the sidelines. He... He had tried to help but before he could move or even think of moving he sunk into darkness, and no matter how he tried he could not awaken or move before now anyway.

"No-"

His memories made him weak and stricken with regret. The friend that had taken care of him for as long as he could remember was murdered and he could do nothing. He had not felt this way even when his clan was burned to the ground.

He could remember them training together. Having progressed as fast as Jian had, he was considered a young genius but often that meant he was excluded and alone. His only friend who had been there and even taught him a few tricks from his beginner rank to where he was now.. was dead.

Vengeance! He wanted blood. The only thought he could have was to avenge them. But, here in a region no his own... The Scorpion Clan had truly fallen and he knew that there was no way of ever returning to how things were in the massacre region. Jian's eyes shifted around looking for anyway out while shifting his body again. This more fury within his actions. However, a strong resisting force from the chains made him unable to move an inch and even made him dizzy.

"Get up"

A soft voice entered his ears and soothed his anger and sick feeling, but, that was wrong! why did he calm down so quickly? He moved his limbs again and found that his restraints were gone or they seemed to have never been there, to begin with?
