13 |Idle Chatter|

"Hm... What makes him so different from all the others? And how does her holiness even select these unfortunate individuals?" Liliana's voice traveled over.

"I do not know Lily and I do not recommend you go asking around either, but, knowing you..."

"What?! I am not that foolish I would not!" Lilianna playfully protested while placing her hands on her hips.

"Mhm.. as you wish to think." Ren gave a half-hearted response while pacing around the pond's parameter. She would wave her hand out towards its center periodically and chant an inaudible phrase.

Watching her chant and finish the ritual Lily said something that has been bothering her since they arrived. The announcement was made clear to all Cardinals. They had to attend the event in the massacre region, "Tsk... Why we have to attend that damned event?"

"Well, it is obviously her holiness paying respect to the Massacre region." A response traveled over between chants and strange bubbling sounds that floated up from the pool. The two seemed to be very much used to going through this process.

"I...I don't know, there are other ways of paying respect to that accursed region of sins. I get that some of our sisters were saved and inducted from there, but, just the thought of those disgusting-"

Ren interjected after finishing her last few rhythmic words, "Your curiosity and disdain towards the unknown are equally incorrect in this case. We just live different lives from those in that region, but, it does not make them all scum."

Liliana looked over to Ren and tapping her left foot impatiently. The polite suggestion seemed to have passed through one ear and exited the other. Ren, of course, noticed Liliana's movements and refusal to listen however this was her usual reaction when it came to that place. Liliana's past was something even Ren did not know very clearly and she figured Lily had an altercation with the people there, resulting in her loathing anything to do with the place.

"Fine do not listen... anyway it should be starting."Her words were followed by a small motion on the surface of the black pool. Larger bubbles began to appear, before long the whole pond appeared to be boiling.

Excruciatingly painful crackling sounds resounded from beneath the liquid as if the bones of a large creature were being ground up. Even when muffled by layers of the black substance, the room was soon clogged with the vivid and insufferable sound of every bone in someone's body shattering. Liliana shivered a little as she imagined what it would be like to be submerged in the liquid and experience such a thing.

The first time she had to watch this ritual and it was explained to her. The person at the bottom is first covered with runic stones of solid holy water, Which is it's most pure form in their cathedral. The stones will hold the body in place once poured in, while the liquid form is the result of absorbing all essence from it before beginning to break down the person's consciousness.

In this process, they would not awaken in a short time thankfully. It does not stop there however, the chants stimulate the runes on the edges, which, act as funnels for the water elemental energy in the air. The runes liquidate the energy and then pour it into the pool where it dissolves into the holy water. However, the mass of the converting energy is beyond 5 kilotons per every 1000 ounces. So, you can guess the hell a person would go through with their body at the bottom.

"A few more minutes now..." Ren's words made Liliana a little less sick.

Liliana added quickly once she regained her composure, "I'm glad this room is enchanted or we would have to use our powers to make sure this energy doesn't become unstable and take the island with it."

"Good point Lily... however we would never imagine after being promoted to our ranks we would witness this level of world-changing magic, even this room that could hold such energy is something we would never have seen in our past mortal lifetimes."
